The Navy qb burned every ou defensive player! when you really think about that you know we are in deep ship!!! BV may coach his last ou games in 2025! i hope he can turn it around
@@gonzostrangelove6107 i said the same. #8 and #27 run right into the defensive players even when there is space to cut back or extend the run to the outside. x robinson was the only one that gets yards after contact and dm does not play the man!
I’m tired of BV making bad decision after bad decision after bad decision. The two point conversion was the wrong call. The offense had crapped the bed all year the strength has been the defense. Why rely on this awful offense to win the game rather than take the xp and play on.
@@geraldpage4401 they didn’t convert so clearly it was not the correct call. The defense could have held Navy or turned them over. You don’t know. We never will. But going for two when your offense has been historically bad was not the correct call to make.
@@lanegilstrap2456 You don't know that the defense could have held them in 0T or that the Sooners would have scored in OT. If your so dang smart you should be out there coaching!
6-7 10-3 6-7 = 45 million with extension. No bowl wins and ranked 14 in the SEC. The OU brand is now the joke of the day. The world is mocking Brent Venables.
On the bus ride to the airport, Pull over and kick Joe John Finley off. A complete waste of a coaching position. He can't recruit, Can't develop, and is damn sure no play caller.
The BV era has just been gross. Unless Bob comes back, I don't want another defensive head coach. I'd rather go back to Riley with no defense than a good defense with an incompetent offense. Just gross.
Don't want Bob back. He was making bad decisions toward the end of his coaching tenure at OU - see the OSU game where we punted twice to the fastest man on the field. The first time we got a touchback but we got a penalty on OSU so Bob tries to get them even deeper in their own territory by accepting the penalty and re punting the ball. Well that doesn't turn out well as their ace punt returner fields the ball and returns it for a touchdown. We go to OT and OU loses. Just one example of many blunders he made in his later years both in coaching and in coaching hires (Mike Stoops return, the hiring of BV over Dan Lanning, ...).
The play call on the 2 point conversion attempt was awful. You have a mobile quarterback, roll him out and make Navy have to guard against him running it in. That being said, if the receivers hadn't all dipped their hands in butter before the game, OU would have won easily. Every single drop, I could hear the voice of my late father in my head saying "It hit the receiver in a bad spot -- right in the hands."
That true but if a field goal ties up the game and you don't have a 2 point conversion play that's been practiced as many times as the kicker has practiced field goal tries then you kick the extra point and go to overtime.
My overall rating and observations for OU this season are as follows: Offensive production = Poor. (D+) Kicking game = Poor. (C+) Punting game = Good. (B) Receiving game = Poor. (D) Line play = (D) QB = (D+) Running Backs = (C) Receivers = (D-) TE = (D-) Coaching = (D+) Defense production = Above Average. (B+) Line play = (A-) Linebackers = (B+) Secondary = (C+) Third Down Stops = (B+) Turnovers = (B) Punt coverage = (A) Kickoff coverage = (A-) Coaching = (B+) The team's Offense: The offensive side appeared to take a giant step backward by hiring Seth Littrell. The overall Offense underperformed all season, and this game was no exception. Much like the O-line play, the quarterback play was abysmal, with Michal Hawkins being the only bright spot. The best one could call the O-Line, and quarterback play this season is bad! Both seemed to lack development. Most were shocked when we discovered that the QBs had no dedicated coach for most of the season, which, once discovered, caused the in-season promotion of Kevin Johns. This was shocking to most people. How could Brent Venables overlook such a basic yet important position on the coaching staff? The tight ends were largely absent or underperformed throughout the year. The receivers OU had available could not get open or catch a ball, especially in critical situations. The receivers should return to catching 200 tennis balls daily, which seemed to work in the past. The running back play had moments but lacked anything like the past OU teams. The running backs lack dynamic players in the backfield, which hurt OU's overall performance. Demarco Murray has failed to develop the running backs. Since removing Cale Gundy, OU hasn't had a dynamic running back. The kicking game improved over last year, but last year was an all-time low compared to previous Oklahoma Sooner teams. Overall, the Sooner's Offense is sub-par, and I don't see any light on the horizon unless the new offensive coordinator, Ben Arbuckle, can make a massive change somehow. Right now, the offensive side of the ball lacks talent, confidence, and a willingness to win. The team's Defense: The D-line play was solid, with several great players. Highlighting players like R. Mason Thomas, Trace Ford, Ethan Downs, Gracen Halton, Damonic Williams, Jayden Jackson, and Caiden Woulllard. This is an excellent group of players and coaching. The Linebackers are another bright spot for OU, Danny Stutsman, Kobie McKinzie, and Kip Lewis. They have an excellent group of players and coaching. The Defensive Backs were also solid, and Billy Bowman, Gentry Williams, Kendel Dolby, Payton Bowen, and Eli Bowen made some fantastic plays. The Special Teams: The special teams were better than last season but lacked a dynamic returner. Kicking improved overall, but too many makeable field goals were missed. Punting and kickoffs were improved. To me, the team lacks a championship mentality. They coast when ahead and seem to find a way to lose. Once behind, they appear to melt down as the game continues, and the opposition's mental resolve to win strengthens. The mental errors have been abundant, while the big plays or key plays have mainly been absent all season. The coaching has been less than impressive, often making odd calls, which clearly hurt the team's chances of winning.
Joe C is allowing this to continue. Joe C has to go along with the entire coaching staff. Defense was awful. Board of regents has got to step in, teas it down and start over.
This team does not play with the same effort and energy as it's opponents. We did 1 game and that was Alabama but besides that this team never looks hyped up or motivated and get outwork by inferior talent.
Brent is fixated on seniority as a basis for who "deserves" to play, Murray apparently determines the RB rotation by spinning a wheel, and the offensive play sheet this season looked like it could be printed on a single 4x6 index card. Despite undeniable improvement on defense from the Riley era, the secondary remains a liability. These are just some of the problems we've seen all three years of Venables' tenure; there's no sign they will improve; there's no indication anyone in Norman is learning from their mistakes (the old saying about the definition of insanity ...). The program's leadership appears to lack a championship mentality/vision. There seems to be a cheapness, a miserliness, regarding staff hires/retention and NIL/recruiting spending and portal strategy. Retaining the current offensive staff would be, IMO, a crucial mistake, one that could get OU in a Nebraska-like hole. For the first time since the '90s, I can't see a silver lining. This is bad. _Bust_ is the standard.
This is a low IQ football staff. Replace the AD, the HC, and the entire staff. Don't let Bob Stoops play a role in who we hire. Hire a well respected AD who knows what to do and clean house.
First off teams break or make records against us. If a team is pinned deep or 3rd and long expect the opposing team to make a big play. Demarco let's his personal feelings dictate his decisions. Mateer has no worries winning the starting job next year. the play calling made you go wtf is he doing and lastly our secondary folded like a lawnchair AGAIN.

I complain about Stoops & how he struggled in bowls, & he did (he was 10-9), but on Football Feedback on 98.1 the Sports Animal after the game, I heard an interesting statistic. OU has won 2 bowl games since Stoops retired. One of those was the 2021 Alamo Bowl, after Riley jumped ship. Stoops was the interim coach. The other? 2020 Cotton Bowl, by Riley.
