Can you give me some advice. I recently turned a purple heart bowl and finished with CA glue. Its generally a beautiful finish but i've got some grey streaks in places. Have i sanded too much or do i need to sand further? Grit wise i've done 400, 800, 1200, 1500, 2500 and then buffing compounds. Its a shame because its otherwise a mirror finish.
Great piece of wood. I’ve made a few of these and one thing I do is to drill a small hole in the bottom to allow moisture to escape. I have an Etsy shop where I was selling these and I used “Koozie” in my description. Guess what? I was notified by a law firm that the word “Koozie” is copyrighted and if I did remove the word they would file a copyright suit against me.
Thank you Joe. I didn't use activator on pieces this big. I know Zac and Heath use buffing wheels to polish not Micro mesh, but I haven't fingered it out yet.
This is just a suggestion but you could use less carbide tools and more traditional tools. It's just a though but I know alot of pepole out there love carbide. Just my opinion.
Symposium was great fun. Enjoyed talking with you.
Your an inspiration to us beginning turners.
Thank you very much Jeff
The wood and the finished product is really beautiful! Love the colors and the depth of the wood grain.

Thank you Krista!
Pop can...sure. Gorgeous work as always.

Nice job Carl. I agree with you about a piece being too glossy as it tends to make it look like plastic.
Thanks buddy

Thank you Tomas!
Put a Peltier cell in the bottom to keep the beverage cold. Will need to also add a battery compartment as well.

Carl Jacobson I am
Really nice! Can you share where you purchased your face shield/headlamp combo?
Thank you Daniel! It's a little deceiving... The light is mounted on the ceiling not my face-shield.

Thank you Greg! Man I didn't know it was copyrighted.

Hey Carl....you mentioned that you would be in Seattle somewhere....... I dont see the link for that..... could you let me know brother? :)
Are you going to be up here? pratt.org/
I like this one a lot!
2 questions:
Did you use a CA activator?
Is it necessary to micro sand the final coat?
Thank you Joe. I didn't use activator on pieces this big. I know Zac and Heath use buffing wheels to polish not Micro mesh, but I haven't fingered it out yet.
cute !
LOVE YOUR VIDEOS .....! GREAT MAPLES PROJECT ....!!!
Thank you!
Can I use CA finish for doorstep? How durable and flexible CA finish is? Thank you in advance.
Yes it would be a good finish.
Where did you get the light that was on your face shield?
I got it from Woodturnerswonders.com
Went to their website and couldn't find it. Left a message with them. Thanks
that is a cool one!!!
Thank you Marla!
Can I get that powder coated with my logo engraved in it?
We should talk to Chad :)
what kind of chuck is this? you changed the jaws so quickly without even taking it off the lathe
It's a Easy Wood Chuck www.easywoodtools.com/
Thanks Carl
Ciao Carl ho notato che hai lavorato l'acero con una sgorbia a quadrotto, come fai a fare il
filo all'inserto. ciao Grazie
È una fresa in metallo duro quadrata Easy Wood.
The CA glue made it look like it was made of glass.
Wow that amount of CA would be 60 bucks in france
is CA super glue?
It's kind of like it, but formulated different for things like this.
Thank you
carl, you should have put a can in the inser before gluing it in
I did a test fit, but I didn't want to glue the can in :)
👍👍👍👍👍🇬🇧🇺🇸...
Can we please just call it a beer coozie?
HAHAHA...OK
Cool BEER
This is just a suggestion but you could use less carbide tools and more traditional tools. It's just a though but I know alot of pepole out there love carbide. Just my opinion.
Hey Carl..... just so you know brother...... I wasnt one of the 'thumbs down' people :P :P :P hahahahahahaha
HAHAHA
Great piece. The grain in the wood is really nice, almost too nice to pour paint on it. Almost.
Hahaha....Thanks :)
