You are awesome , have walked in the wilderness for 61 years and the stories and things I've seen could fill a good book.Number 60 is the largest I believe and I have spent about 50 years in 82.Keep up the course I'm still learning.
I've hiked and mountain biked on #141 many times to Buzzard's Point and Tank Hollow from the Behren's Road parking area. I was also on game lands Mountain Road and Bake Oven Knob area. I want to go back and walk in further on the road. Last time I ran out of light! Good luck with the new series!!
Good choice! I hadn't given the State Game Lands any thought. I would like to see you continue the trail came placements, also. It's interesting to see all the animals going about their daily and nightly lives. Thanks for all the great videos. Charlie..
Hi, I enjoy your channel. Looking forward to the new series I know and I’m pretty sure there is Portzline’s family cemetery on I think it is 194 State game lands. It is in Perry Township Snyder County. You can Google it to find some information on the cemetery I think the cemetery was given over to the game commission in 1942 my wife’s maiden name is Portzline
A significant portion of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania passes through State game lands. My only comment other than the beautiful views and trail is to mention that wearing "hunter orange" whenever on these lands is probably a good idea and in fact legally required during hunting seasons. You might consider "the General" on game lands 211, or game lands 110 above Port Clinton
Years ago, in either January or February, while reading a forum on a fishing site, one of the members mentioned that he was out hunting in a SHL 314 near Erie. He came across large human footprints in the snow! He questioned why anyone would be crazy enough to walk barefoot in the snow! Only Bigfoot right?😊
Gamelands #12 and #36 up here in Bradford County are large and close together. The area is rich in coal mining and timber ghost town history. In the town of Leroy there is a museum depicting this history put together and maintained by the Barclay Mountain Historical Society.
The game land numbers jump around. Unless you film all the ones in one area, then air them in order, you will be driving back and forth around the state. Maybe you can film the covered bridges you still need to get while you're in those areas. There are 10 covered bridges in Somerset and maybe 5 game lands. Make sure you wear orange.
This would be an interesting series. Never given much thought to the game lands, even though I live near at least 2, but I think more, in northern Beaver County. Plus the North Country Trail that runs through some.
Sgl 42 has a few overlooks near the Northern Terminus of the Laurel Highlands Trail. There's some iron furnaces on and near 42. The West Penn and Ghost Town Trails go through sgl and other public lands with ruins. Good luck.
State game lands number 285 is abandoned clay mine called the White Mine that closed in 1920's. They used steam shovels that was used during the Panama Canal. There's a abandoned railroad tracks, plus a iron railroad bridge that survived in the middle of the woods, somehow,
So, when you get to 056 here in upper bucks co. This SGL is divided into scattered parts. The southern part is around Widcat Lake. Take Wildcat road to the end and park in the lot there. From there, you can walk down the rest of the remains of Widcat Road to the dam and a beautiful lake. Walk over the dam and into the woods again and you will find the remains of old wildcat road which you can follow for a bit. About 50-100 yards past the dam are some old farmhouse or barn ruins. Definitely a great place to check out and explore.
Sgl 64 near Galeton is where I use to hunt. Sounds like a great idea for a new series.that’s gonna be a lot of windshield time. I’ll be watching. Thanks. Wayne in Ohio.
If I'm not mistaken, some of the state game lands are broken up. Different parcels of land not connected, but part of the same game lands. Several near me, (north central-western Pa) have tectonic caves, most of which are very interesting for sure.
Thats going to take quite a while as hunting goes on for different things practically all year. I thought there was going to be a Revolutionary War series.
No one is going to mind if Cliff hikes the game-lands during hunting season. Just wear the prescribed amount of blaze orange and be aware of where people are hunting. There's plenty of room to share.
Cliff, go for it! Wopsononock Overlook near Altoona, and Raystown Dam Overlook should be on the list. Also, Conemaugh Gorge and Johnstown incline plane overlook would be nice too.
Hi Cliff! Happy New Year! I'm local to you over here in Middletown. SGL 246 is a nice small one just across the Swattie that I'd love to meet up and collaborate with a short hike. There are two parking areas and a road that connects them for a great afternoon hike and a high point that has a great view. Let me know if you are interested and bring your twisted walking stick!
Two suggestions - Pennsylvania Natural Areas (58) and Pennsylvania Historical Marker Program (2600). That should give you content for some time! Thanks for what you have done so far.
Game lands are a bit of a quirk. The state administers them but doesn't own them. They're owned by PA hunters and held in trust by the state. Governor Rendell found that out the hard way when he tried to sell a few. He could sell them, but the proceeds would need to go to purchasing other game lands, not spent on Rendell pet projects. He soon abandoned the idea.
OG tarik from Philly salute WANDERING WOODSMAN PENNSYLVANIA IS IN THE BUILDING 🏢 HEY FAM MAYBE YOU COULD COME TO PHILLY BECAUSE ITS A LOT OF ABANDONED BUILDINGS. SOME GIANT COMPANIES AT ONE PARTICULAR TIME SMASH THE LIKE BUTTON PEOPLE 👑💯👍🏿💪🏿✌🏿🙏🏿💰📸👾👻🧛🧞♀️👽🛸🛸
@tarik.... Ed from ridley. Yo whatever happened to the idea to giving all the dirtbikers a legal place to ride by the river... lots of room near allegheny..... Haven't heard anything more about it ?
@edwardluke4920 Cheryl Parker mentioned something to that effect. They can be very agitating riding through city streets popping Willie's and all that crazy s***. That's a good idea you have it's toned down a lot I didn't hear nowhere near that much 4 wheelers through Philly streets thank God 💯👑👍🏿✌🏿🙏🏿💪🏿💰❄️🥶🥞👾👻🛸👽
Is there something like tracing Civil War campsites that were just before or just after the ones we know about? A lot happened in Pennsylvania and area just south. You've done wars already.
Do it yes please probably alot of structures there, well we can only hope. Love it yes great stuff coming I know. Ty Steve On To The Next YES PLEASE much needed
Ok Cliff I know you have good intentions to do them in numerical order, however, with the cost of gas i honestly would recommend doing like a few maybe nearby to each other. Trying to knock a fee out in the same trip. Obviously, this is just my thoughts. I really enjoy seeing all these places through your eyes. You don't pretend to know everything and admit when you don't. That's what I love about your channel.
I would love to see some videos on all the wonderful overlooks in Pennsylvania.
SGL 36 , boarders number 12. Has the old ghost towns of Barclay( which has a cemetery you can visit) and laquin. Love the area !
You are awesome , have walked in the wilderness for 61 years and the stories and things I've seen could fill a good book.Number 60 is the largest I believe and I have spent about 50 years in 82.Keep up the course I'm still learning.
Lots of video possibility but really ambitious to consider covering so many locations. Good luck on your new adventure!
I would love to know about the mills in so many towns. They were sometimes a major employer and affected the lives of so many people.

I love the idea for this series. While the game commission is not perfect it does keeps relatively large swathe of land free from development.
Really looking forwards to new series. Please take care

Looking forward to it, great idea!
That will be a great series. Looking forward to it.
Wow!!! Excited for this series...

Happy New Year Cliff!
I was there in the summer. Game lands 328 , west penn trail access tunnelton road. Short hike to see unique tunnel.
The closest game lands to me is #211. I didn't know how big it is and all the history in it until I started watching TH-cam.
Sgl 42 has a few overlooks near the Northern Terminus of the Laurel Highlands Trail. There's some iron furnaces on and near 42. The West Penn and Ghost Town Trails go through sgl and other public lands with ruins. Good luck.
The A.T. goes through some PA Game Lands. At least it did in 1999/2000.
This might take years! Good luck.

Beams rocks in linn run state park
Thank you for all the hard work you do❤ very appreciated ❤
Have you thought about Mills,Gristmills, old ones with water wheels, maybe those still in operation? Like your videos, keep going.
I really enjoy your videos. Great stuff.
Thanks Cliff.
Sgl 64 near Galeton is where I use to hunt. Sounds like a great idea for a new series.that’s gonna be a lot of windshield time. I’ll be watching. Thanks. Wayne in Ohio.
Sounds like a good plN . lOOKING FORWARD TO THAT!!
I think it would be interesting to go to all the blue historical markers.
good luck, the only game lands I'm familiar with is only accessible by one very rough road. again, good luck.
sounds like a plan, hope you can get to SGL 296 Fayette county the old alliance iron furnace is located there
Sounds good.
Can’t wait
Sounds like a good idea. That place you're hiking in would be a great place to film a horror film.👻
Can you recommend some hiking areas in Columbia and Lycoming counties for kids. Myself, daughter and granddaughters love to explore
Looking forward to the new series! Historic churches and houses of worship would be an interesting series. New Year’s Blessings!

Thats going to take quite a while as hunting goes on for different things practically all year. I thought there was going to be a Revolutionary War series.
Revolutionary war, please. I would like to see more history.
There will be a series for the Rev. War. He often has several series going at the same time, simply for logistical issues and also to vary content.
No one is going to mind if Cliff hikes the game-lands during hunting season. Just wear the prescribed amount of blaze orange and be aware of where people are hunting. There's plenty of room to share.
@leoashrae4199 I wasnt referring to anyone minding. I was just saying. I know he will be respectful of the hunters.
@@nancymann5351 The hunters don't mind in the least. Anyone who behaves in a civil, sensible, manner is welcome to the Pennsylvania State Game Lands.
Be kinda hard to give a specific cool spot to check out in our SGL here in Cameron County haha. We only have one but it covers a lot of ground. SGL 14
Cliff, go for it! Wopsononock Overlook near Altoona, and Raystown Dam Overlook should be on the list. Also, Conemaugh Gorge and Johnstown incline plane overlook would be nice too.
Hi Cliff! I sent you an email back on 11/23/24 about possibly checking out all the state game lands because they are so varied!
Try setting up trail cams in each game preserve before hiking, hey, not bad huh !
Looking forward to a new series!
I think I saw Bigfoot behind you! Happy New Year!

Yeah,I thought he had started a natural area. Haven't seen much.
I've already started a series on PA's natural areas.
Game lands are a bit of a quirk. The state administers them but doesn't own them. They're owned by PA hunters and held in trust by the state. Imagine how much land the state owns!!!!😮
When you get to 141, hit me up. It's right around the corner from my house and I would love to go on a hike with you!
That will be cool
Love and miss you Cliff💛
I’ve wanted to do all town war memorials but too big of a project for me right now. Anyone else interested?
SGL #33 in Centre County is the place to go. You could get lost for days in there.
Greetings earthling..
Sounds like a great series. Have you ever considered doing a series on the canal along the Juanita River?

Have you ever done a series on the many Falls in Pennsylvania?
Is there something like tracing Civil War campsites that were just before or just after the ones we know about? A lot happened in Pennsylvania and area just south. You've done wars already.
Why don't you and some other TH-camrs camp where there is alot of Bigfoot sightings
There are Bigfoot sightings; there are no Bigfoot sightings of actual Bigfeet.
Where are the Bigfoot sightings are in Pennsylvania ????
We don't want him to get eaten!!!
Do it yes please probably alot of structures there, well we can only hope. Love it yes great stuff coming I know. Ty Steve On To The Next YES PLEASE much needed
I see a you have a few Gettysburg videos. Ever think you might go back?
Visit the state game lands closest to you. It is more cost effective.
Are you going to make a series out of those books I sent you?
3:10
"like the saying goes we'll cover those bridges when we get there"
Cliff has done to many covered bridges videos. 😂

Agree.
Cliff should rethink doing them in numerical order.
Definitely, especially knowing that several are within a short drive of each other
You have traveled far in pa.How about the places and things that stand out in your mind.
The game lands by Maple Grove can be first!
