It's amazing that the filter element is the same size as something you'd find on the engine of a large car or truck. With the sheer size of that engine, I'd have expected the oil filter element to be the size of a pool filter cartridge!

Well think about it, its a dry sump system and the only things that need oil in a turbine are the bearings for the shafts so in general they dont need huge amounts of oil - just shit tons of jet fuel

Hi Mike Masters, how to differentiate o-rings,preformed packings and gasket seals. As all of them looks similar.

For best performance after replacing filter element, remember to add fresh oil to engine. Or don't.

an engineer must decide what get safety wire and what doesnt? seems like an item that can not fail 🤔

If lock wire is needed or not it's something that is clearly mentioned in the AMM(Aircraft Maintenance Manual).

Holey crap. Separate bolts AND nuts?? Talk about an easy to lose part on a dark cold ramp. Why not just thread the holes in the body to accept the bolts?? And why not just design the damn thing from the git-go so that it CANNOT be assembled incorrectly?? The aviation group must have some guys they brought over from the old nuclear side of the company. I had a license to operate a BWR-6.....and I was in Machinery Division on a boomer. I know of what I speak.
