I felt like I did not belong and maybe this isn’t for me or I will possibly not do as great as I hoped. God has proven me wrong. Girl my story is exactly the same , luckily I applied abroad and got accepted there so I rejected the other offers ngaPakisha imthwalo yam but I still do wish I was in SA
China ,babes Im currently doing my 4th year there. There are many medical schools to choose from in China but make sure it is recognized by the HPCSA if you do plan on going abroad to China
The problem is China has been on lockdown since 28 March 2020 because of the pandemic not allowing international students and most foreigners in since then. Its 2022 and still no news on when they will allow students back who went home for holiday that time. Although online learning has been a thing and they still accepting international students I dont think you would feel comfortable starting your medical degree online because we really dont know when China will open its borders
Hey Dr Mothapo. When doing Biomedical Sciences, do they select you for medicine using the final third year results? Or the entire results from all the three years (1st year to 3rd year) you have been doing the degree for?
Hi there🌻 should you meet the prerequisites mentioned on the wits website then you can. Please check out my video on the GEMP application process for more info🌻🌻
With GEMP you have to complete your degree then apply. It is a graduate entry medical programme meaning that to get into GEMP you have to be a graduate
Yohhh, I have 7 days top accept my BHSc at wits and I don't know what to do cause I want to take it and study medicine but I have so much fear and I'm worried about the funding of me doing 3 years in biomedical sciences and then another 6 in medicine. How did you get funding for all those years???
Hey hey, I am self funded however have been receiving funding in certain years. Funding is defs a hassle. Please check out my video on different funding opportunities available to you 🙏
Hey girl. Thank you for your informative video.🙏🏽 I just wanted to ask about what you said at 8:10 , will you only be exempted from writing the WAPT test with 60% aggregate if you are from Wits only? .. as in what happens if you not from Wits but you're a Health Sciences student with exam exemption (above 60 for all your modules) ?
Dr, can you kindly advise me on what to do i have completed my bsc degree and i didn't make it to honours neither Gemp is doing a pgce a good plan to do and apply using it results to gemp to the 6 year program Or will i have to start another 4year degree
Thank you so Much for sharing your life experiences is so inspiring. I just wanna ask for someone like me, if I could make it to medical school. I'm 23 and I've been an average student all my life and now I'm a qualified teacher. But the thing is I can not see myself doing anything rather than medicine. I'm in a point where I'm just confused, a bit stressed not knowing what should I do, should I accept myself as a teacher or go back to high school and upgrade my grades try again and hope to make it.
Hey there🌻 if medicine is something you wanna do then definitely explore your options. You can check the university requirements for medicine and if you dont meet them then perhaps consider doing the required courses/ upgrading your Marks part time via different institutions. You're still really young and I'm one who believes in doing something they're passionate about, so I'd defs encourage you to go for it if you're passionate about it.
Heyyy. Does Wits accept foreign students to study medicine? I'm currently doing my A levels in Zimbabwe. I'm afraid I won't be selected to study medicine in the first year. Apart from biomedical sciences what are the othere degrees I can apply for that can help me get a better chance of getting into medicine. Thank you for the inspiration 🙏 ❤.
Hey there, yes Wits does take foreign students😊 you can get into medicine with any degree provided that you meet the prerequisites. Please check out my video on GEMP and WAPT explained for more info
PLEASE HELP ME!!! I'm so stressed out. I need to know whether you are eligible for getting into the gemp program if u complete a bsc in clinical medical practice
Hi there🌻 I have made a video about the different entry requirements to get into GEMP as well as sites to check out to see if you will be eligible. I am not sure where you're doing your Bsc and the courses yall are doing. My best advice would be to check out that video and the wits website about GEMP
@@becomingdrmothapo154 Thank you for responding. I'm currently in matric and I received provisional acceptance into A Bsc for clinical medical practice and I need to make a choice before tomorrow and I have no idea what to do. :(

hi i am currently a first year wits student studying towards astronomy and astrophysics i would like your advice on something.....firstly thank you for the video it really gave me hope as i plan to study medicine somewhere in the not so distant future i realized really late what i actually wanted to study hence i did not apply for medicine at all ....So my question is do you think i should finish this degree which i am studying towards now and then apply for GEMP or should i change to a pre med degree like biomedical science or biological science in second year and start all over as a first year. i know with astrophysics i only meet the prerequisite for first year physics but not chemistry and biology i read up on part time GEMP courses i could take for those but studying for the wapt test and actually passing it would be extra hard and thatv would be pretty expensive.......any thoughts on this will be highly appreciated thanks in advance

hey. where did you apply?
China ,babes Im currently doing my 4th year there. There are many medical schools to choose from in China but make sure it is recognized by the HPCSA if you do plan on going abroad to China
@@siphokazisosibo1132 wow. please hook me up if you dont mind. a link or something about that university
Hey @siphokazi sosibo. May I ask when are the applications for medicine in China closing?
Hey Dr Mothapo. When doing Biomedical Sciences, do they select you for medicine using the final third year results? Or the entire results from all the three years (1st year to 3rd year) you have been doing the degree for?
Hey there, they look at your average for the last two years🌻
your story is very similar to mine! thoroughly enjoyed this, thank you Dr
It's a pleasure 🙏🌻
Hi, is it possible to get into medicine through nursing?
Hi there🌻 should you meet the prerequisites mentioned on the wits website then you can. Please check out my video on the GEMP application process for more info🌻🌻
They said I'm not eligible for this year... What does that mean?? I'm currently doing my Physio first year??
With GEMP you have to complete your degree then apply. It is a graduate entry medical programme meaning that to get into GEMP you have to be a graduate
@@becomingdrmothapo154 meaning I can only apply in my 4th year? 😢Atleast. Thank you
HEY DOCTOR HOW DO I BECOME A RADIOLOGIST OR GYNECOLOGY

Hey there, this was the rule when I was in BHSc however things have changed since then. And yes, it only applied to BHSc students.
Thank you for the motivation 🙏
Mem! Please tell me what did you get?
Physics
Maths
Life science
English
Dr, can you kindly advise me on what to do i have completed my bsc degree and i didn't make it to honours neither Gemp is doing a pgce a good plan to do and apply using it results to gemp to the 6 year program
Or will i have to start another 4year degree
@@becomingdrmothapo154 thank you so much Dr Mothapo. I'll explore my options.
Hey maothapo , can I apply for Gemp at wits and at the same time for postgraduate
@@becomingdrmothapo154 Thank you 💞😊

@@scoovadia9452 oh I see, please do abit of research around the subjects/courses you would be covering in that field and if the courses you'll be doing will allow you to do GEMP afterwards 🌻🌻
@@becomingdrmothapo154 please could u tell me what a general bsc entails? Can u choose your own courses like chemistry and physics, thereby meeting the requirements for gemp?
Are matric results considered when selecting candidates to qualify for the gemp program?
They look at your average for the last two years of your prior degree. Please check out my video on how the GEMP and WAPT work for more info
hi i am currently a first year wits student studying towards astronomy and astrophysics i would like your advice on something.....firstly thank you for the video it really gave me hope as i plan to study medicine somewhere in the not so distant future i realized really late what i actually wanted to study hence i did not apply for medicine at all ....So my question is do you think i should finish this degree which i am studying towards now and then apply for GEMP or should i change to a pre med degree like biomedical science or biological science in second year and start all over as a first year. i know with astrophysics i only meet the prerequisite for first year physics but not chemistry and biology i read up on part time GEMP courses i could take for those but studying for the wapt test and actually passing it would be extra hard and thatv would be pretty expensive.......any thoughts on this will be highly appreciated thanks in advance
