As an European i really think the Brits have a great sense of Humor and social skills in general, they just have that positive and playfull vibe that is really enjoyable
For the most part everyone in the UK understands each other’s accents unless it’s especially thick. Though the best part of love island is that everyone is from different areas so everywhere is represented at some point
I think it’s just British culture in general you’re brought up with people taking the piss out of each other like family, family friends and then you’re friends do the same. Plus I think British people are less offended by things than what Americans or people from other cultures. Like my parents and my siblings would always take the piss out of each other even at a young age.
@@iamtheboneofmysword607it’s strange because when you meet someone you can’t joke with, there’s almost like this weird energy where you’re trying to be nice but both people know it’s wrong to not say something
The more Love Island UK that you binge, the more sense that they'll eventually start to make and you'll find that you start to pick up some of the slang as well.
Anthony if you're reading this, I love you and wish you could set me up on a blind date. I will literally fly out to you in the middle of this panorama. Huge fan of you and your work! (P.S. if you are ever in need of an assistant I am a film student, with a psychology minor and good vibes, that will work for you for free)
Hey the next show you should do is Peaky Blinders and the interactions specifically with Grace and Tommy :) after watching Outer Banks and being obsessed with that I have now moved on to another obsession lol
tbh I think the way casting works is way better in the UK like they tend to cast more relatable everyday ppl whereas in the US it's more about casting the ppl who will make the most drama and are kinda fake usually.
I might actually need to watch this show now, they are so much more relaxed and natural it’s refreshing! The US people are trying so hard to appear attractive they just end up awkward and dull
As someone from the UK, I find it really hard to understand what people say sometimes on tv and film- that's why I ALWAYS watch things with subtitles on.
It's funny how you said the cast had real personalities. For the first two weeks of this year's LI everyone was disappointed because the cast was dry 😅 I'd be scared to watch the American version after this comparison.
There’s this show called naked and afraid and they just made a dating show spin off called “Naked and Afraid of Love” it’s just as absurd as it sounds! I want to see you react to it so bad 🤣
As a Brit, your English accent isn't the worst. I mean, it's not great but I've heard plenty worse American attempts. You will get brownie points next time if you call it an English accent tho. Coz the Scots and Welsh object to yanks calling a Southern English accent "British" as if Britain is just England.
I think in general the Brits don’t care about this whole male/ female thing that much. I have friends who are married to British guys. Also, a British guy told me once that he really doesn’t like the whole toxic masculinity in the States. He goes to the US for work a lot.
Literally the hottest thing is when someone kind of teases me. I love when a fella makes fun of me a little bit. It definitely brings out a comfort with someone, because only people who are close to you tease you that way. It’s interesting to think about. .. 🧐
What you said about Hugo makes a lot of sense as he was very unlikeable to a lot of people. As the show went on, the viewers found him cringey and wanted him out. It’s because he was only showing a certain facade
I think your British (well, South East English-ish really - Scottish and Welsh accents are very different, and accents from other places in England different too... I have a Yorkshire accent and I don't sound like this 😅) accent isn't awful! I've heard way way worse, but it did wander a bit and start to go Australian at times 🤣
Also I think taking the piss out of each other is just an integral part to British culture, and I'd say we're very jokey and playful generally? I wonder if part of the reason we're more relaxed is that we go out and socialise with new people from a younger age because the drinking age is 18 🤔. And I think out dating culture is more chill and casual too - idk when USians start to date properly but I started going on "proper" dates at 17 and deliberately went on a LOT of dates after my big breakup aged 23 which seems more socially acceptable here, and easier with better public transport and living close to lots of fun stuff? I did struggle with people who were too uptight and serious but had a fun time with easy and open people. I've chatted to American guys from dating apps in the past and they were nice and all but kinda hard to flirt with in the way I normally do, 🤔. Like, it was hard work talking to them at times and it was quite matter of fact and the cheeky teasing often went over their heads and could upset them 🙃
We are not offended by your awful British accent because we are British and do not offend easily! Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins and Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow have a lot to answer for, as most Americans sound like them when doing English impressions! It is probably the same as us trying to do an American accent and always sounding like Forrest Gump! FYI though the 'having a crack' (craic) saying is Irish and not something that English people use, so maybe drop that ;) Can't wait to watch the next episodes!
I’m from the UK (England, London) and have lived here my whole life and have never said “having a crack” 😂🥴. I’ve heard it on a few rare occasions but ewww, so cringe lol. Also, some cities have a stronger accent in the UK but others don’t have much of an accent at all. Like the capital London for example, we speak pretty clearly here haha
I'm not happy with america in a lot of ways, but I'm pretty sure everyone is afraid to admit how much of asian culture is mean, judgmental, cruel to women. I'm glad I'm not somewhere even like Japan, which I love a lot, but I like more touchy-lovey relationship. I don't like "saving" I love you for just a "special" time, because otherwise it "takes away". I was really surprised learning that was a thing. They think uk + Americans are too showy. But maybe it depends on what you find charming. 🤷♀️ There's not technically a right way.

AAAAAH I’m soooo excited for weekly love island uk!!! This show is such a guilty pleasure of mine.
The best part is Anthony giving us serious dating and relationship insight, while wearing the heavy white blanket... priceless🤣🤣
only for you chandler!
I laugh when you shit on the American version I couldn’t get pass the first season. I love the UK version though so 😌
The first us season was awful, but the other two since then are pretty good!
It's having "the" craic or "it was good craic", which is Irish slang😂
I’m excited and will watch these, I feel like some episode could be boring but most episodes are gonna be so fun to watch😂😂

I sometimes turn on the captions to understand them 😂 season 4 and season 5 of UK are my favorites! The US simply does not compare!!
I feel so dumb that I cant understand their English but I get the vibe , the banter is just the next level "cheeky "
Some of the more northern accents were a bit hard (Brad's accent) but you get better at it the more you hear of it

I love the word snog! It's a fun way to talk about kissing, in my opinion, kind of like the word "shagging" being a fun way to talk about sex.

Emma mackey and Asa Butterfield, or Maeve and Otis!!
