- Welp, I surprisingly didn't get a stress ulcer but these past few months were times of uncertainty. The entire CaRMS (the Canadian residency matching service) experience was intense to say the least. I hope you enjoy this vlog detailing my experience with the application, interviews and match day. My name is Kian (23), I have a quirky sense of humour, and my favourite organ is the kidney (who makes regular appearances in my videos).
Should all things go according to plan I will be graduating with my MD come 2022! My goal with this channel is to share the RAW and REALISTIC parts of being a medical student through my personal experience to better inform people who are interested in medical school...or at least make you smile
I'm still learning how to make videos and I look forward to seeing how this channel IMPROVES and EVOLVES. Constructive feedback always welcome!

I am so emotional watching this. I’m so happy for you and so so proud of you. I’ve watched you from day one and your growth was phenomenal. Hearing you worry about going unmatched because you’re the “bottom of the barrel” and have no real attributes compared to your classmates almost made me cry. That’s not true, you’re seriously so amazing and talented and thoughtful. But at the same time, hearing you talk about yourself that way reminded me of how I talk to myself too, so I get where you’re coming from. As a co-applicant to the same programs as you this year, I can relate a lot with everything you went through! It is true that we don't necessarily talk about the application process, but rather focus on the match, which quite frankly should not be used as a success indicator. Thank you for sharing your experience, and congratulations on your match!
Kian you're doing and have done great things for Canadian (and international) medical students and pre-meds. Your videos are so genuine showing the ups and downs of school and navigating the entirely new world of clinical life post pre-clerkship. I really enjoyed how you put in that piece about it being sad to leave your friends and life behind in a new residency program, not a lot of people describe that aspect of things. As someone else mentioned I really wasn't surprised you chose vascular surgery after seeing your experience in that rotation! Your passion was incredibly evident and it doesn't surprise me in the least that the adcoms saw that as well. Keep it up and we all look forward to follow along with everything you do.
