Looks like cool little rig. Looking forward to future adventures.
Thank you! We are too!
Not bad for the first camp, hope you get a better dump station attendant next time...:)
I hope so too!
I'm kind of excited to find you- I have an '84 Nissan Lakeview model motorhome in Wash State. I wasn't sure there were any others out there. Your transmission troubles were with an automatic, I assume? I've got the sorta rare 5spd.- 5th speed is only used over 45mph [80kph] and on flat road. I had a Toyota MH in the past, and I think I like the Nissan better. My dinette is in the rear, with wrap-around seating, and wrap-around windows. Nice, bright, and open during the day- cold and "spooky" at night. It's time for some Reflectix window covers. I've heard that Nissan never had the rear axle failures that plagued some Toyotas. Have you heard that? What are you doing to "fix" yours? Thanks
Hey! Always glad to meet others with a Nissan motorhome. Our transmission is a 5 speed. We had it fail because we were using 5th gear going against the wind on flat ground. After doing a lot of research my advice to people with the original transmission is to never use 5th. The camper is just too hard on it. I did modifications to put in the upgraded D21 hardbody transmission. For the axle, no, Nissan doesn’t have troubles like the Toyotas. They have had a free floating axle right from the start. An improvement that Toyota made once their bearings started failing on their fake dually idea. We did put in new leaf springs and put on some air bags to help with the load.
We have done a lot to improve turtle 🐢 and have most of our upgrades posted on Instagram. The truth is these are small trucks are carrying a lot of weight.
Check us out on Instagram you will see we love Turtle 🐢 and enjoy meeting and helping others with the mini motorhomes. If you have any questions we will try and help.
Keep Cruzin’ 🐢
