Tchaikovsky Valse, op. 39, no. 8 from The Children's Album

Here is a charming little waltz, suitable for many ballet class exercises. I did not lengthen the introduction from what was in the original piano score, so students will need to be ready to dance after only two counts, in true Russian style!
This Valse has a tempo indication of Allegro Assai, or Fast Enough, which leaves plenty of room for interpretation.
Tchaikovsky had an odd sense of humor in assembling this Children's Album. Pieces Six and Seven are "The Sick Doll" and "The Doll's Funeral". Next comes the waltz heard here, followed by "The New Doll". Your philosophical thoughts about this programming would be appreciated!
