My son dated a girl who would order a lot of food at McDonald's. Two sandwiches, large fries, one of the more expensive drinks, and dessert. I didn't mind, but then she would eat a few bites of each sandwich, a few of the fries, a few sips of the drink, and ignore the dessert. After the second time she did it, I never bought fast food again. She could eat what I had at the house, or not. Another time we went out to a nice restaurant with my friend, her husband, daughter, and the daughter's friends. The teen girls ordered appetizers, substituted sides, ordered extra sides, and desserts. They ate a few bites of each thing, and the rest was trashed. They didn't even ask for doggie bags, not the girls or the parents. My friend and her husband didn't even raise an eyebrow. My husband and I were shocked, and thought they were ill-mannered. I was surprised that anybody would think that is normal behavior, especially when somebody else is paying. That is disgusting behavior to me, a waste of money and of food. Thankfully, we had separate checks, because there was no way I was going to contribute to that. When SIL's children grow up, they are going to be excluded when their friends go out to eat. Especially when they are splitting the check. She'd better start teaching them some manners and respect.

It absolutely is her responsibility and her teaching niece that if she doesn't get her way she's allowed to break things. What's she gonna do if her daughter does this to someone else with something that doesn't belong to her and she ends up getting sued.? Tell the judge "it's not my job to watch the kids. They should have just let her do it and this wouldn't have happened" .?

Probably not even do the child support. Using his family to mentally abuse her (picked his family over her). OP is a major AH. And even try to down play the AHness of the father.
