    for me it was just a tiny sharp pain and then nothing. was infected the next day. my fault tho for not speaking up when she told me to stay at the front and sign papers while she went to the back to prepare. I should have watched her do it. always watch your piercer/tattoo artist prepare and take out fresh needles and gloves or you will regret it!!

    • @threedogsinatrenchcoat6336
      @threedogsinatrenchcoat6336 ปีที่แล้ว +81

      Even with fresh needles belly buttons are full of bacteria, and the shape of the piercing holds bacteria easier than other piercings, It's the most common type of piercing to get an infection.

      They could’ve used fresh everything anyways. Belly buttons are closed, dark, warm, moist spaces. The perfect breeding ground for bacteria. Couple that with an open wound and the irritation of a fresh piercing, and it’s basically the perfect „recipe“ for an infection.
      The best thing to do is clean it well beforehand, wear loose fitting cool clothing, and stay on top of proper aftercare with saline spray, making sure you don’t agitate it as much as possible.

    • @Ldawg42069
      @Ldawg42069 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      This is so important to anyone who hasn’t had any body (or ear) piercings before. Always watch your piercer get new, clean items before working on you. The place I’ve gotten all my piercings requires this for all piercings. Single use needles and rubbing alcohol are your best friends

  • @Nothinggirl
    @Nothinggirl ปีที่แล้ว +122

    Also, people should make sure they have the right anatomy for a belly button piercing, not everyone can have the traditional one. I had to get a floating belly button piercing but when it heals you can wear the same jewelry as the normal one, it just makes sure it doesn’t reject.

    • @SSEdroid2707
      @SSEdroid2707 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      How do you even know if your body rejects it? 🤔

    • @Nothinggirl
      @Nothinggirl ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@SSEdroid2707 there’s a lot of symptoms but basically your body will treat it as a foreign substance/object, and it will lead to infection. Also as your body views it as a foreign object, it will try to push the jewelry out, so the piercing will come to the surface of the skin over time until the skin can rip.
      If you google it you can also see examples. But basically, you’ll know bc the piercing will become messed up lol.

    • @JacquelineUnderwood
      @JacquelineUnderwood ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SSEdroid2707one of the biggest indicators is whether it’s infected or not, as infections don’t necessarily mean rejection but they can cause it. As for a body slowly rejecting it (my biggest fear) you’ll notice the piercing hole(s) having a lot more room in them (typically they’re right around the piercing without much, if any, room extra) and the skin will start to thin in front of the piercing as well (you’ll start to see and feel the bar more). Through and throughs like lobe (traditional ear piercings, one through the soft outer bit of your ear) piercings are less likely to reject than ones like nose bridge and belly button piercings. If you notice a piercing potentially rejecting, go to your piercer and they can evaluate it. You might be overthinking it (I did that a lot) but if you aren’t, the piercer can advise you on whether the piercing should be removed (helps avoid weird healing marks from where it was fully rejected, and helps prevent even more scar tissue which means it might be okay to retry once it’s healed fully) or if there is a potential way to save it.

    mine was just kind of uncomfortable to get done 🤷🏻‍♀️ i didnt get any infections, only normal discomfort you’d expect from a new piercing and it healed with no problems. Some would say im one of the lucky ones but i think a good part of why mine went so well was that i wore loose clothing and gave it time and space to heal instead of immediately styling it, which i see a lot of people doing.
    If you’re going to get your belly button pierced, of course make sure youre going to a reputable piercer but also, be gentle and thoughtful with your choice of clothes because at the end of the day your body is trying to heal a new wound and having fluff and bacteria all up in it definitely wont make it heal any better!!

  • @bethanywood5564
    @bethanywood5564 ปีที่แล้ว +13

    Yes it hurts, and your anatomy has a lot to do with it, if you're too thin it hurts from tightness but if your belly folds it adds constant pressure to it (it will heal just slower and with more care)

    i have a very low pain tolerance and i said that to the girl who pierced me, she was very nice and patient with me. what we did (worked for me, may not work for all) was that she wouldn’t tell me when she would pierce it, she just told to me to breathe in and out and did it on one of my intakes of breath (if the makes sense) it hurt but the worst part was the week after, i couldn’t sit down or stand up like normally and had to be very careful with how i moved, but after the first week i was fine.

    It depends on how your nerves are in that area, how good the piercer is, and what your natural pain resistance (not like how much you can tolerate but how strongly you feel it) as to how much it will hurt 🤷🏻‍♀️ but the good news about piercings is even if the piercer wants to fix the placement (like it’s not quite right to how it should look or they’d like it to look) it still doesn’t take long. Maybe a couple seconds of sharp pain if they get it the first try, a couple seconds then about thirty seconds of adjustment and repierce if it needs to be fixed. Anyone can manage that, I believe in you. Do it for the aesthetic you want

    I kept my eyes open and the pain made my vision go white and I felt so incredibly hot, like a cold sweat. After the jewelry went in I took a minute to come to and managed to stand up though I was a little shaky.

    I did It once and It was probably one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. The guy told me to breath in and out and bla bla bla but I probably will never get It again. I think this depends on your belly button shape and the quantity of fat on the area. If you have a small belly button with small fat It'll be easier to pinch on the skin

I had been squeezing out the cheesy smell gunk and one day I was like “I should stop doing that” so I stopped and 2 days later it hurt really bad and I had to release all of that gunk buildup, even blood came out and it squirted everywhere it was gross and smelly LMAO

    I literally didn’t feel it at all 😂 I was so surprised 😂 but even getting my seconds didn’t hurt, so it definitely depends on the person 😊

    I swear getting my nipples pierced hurt less then my belly button!
    The healing process was pretty bad for the nips but that belly ring got caught on EVERYTHING!

    The worst part of ANY piercing is the aftercare 😂 I didn’t feel most of my piercings when they happened, but I felt them for the 3-6 weeks it takes to fully heal.

    Personally it was over pretty quick for me honestly the clams hurt more than the actual piercing cuz the piercer was really quick and warned me beforehand to make sure i was prepared

    my friend pierced mine & usually i think i have a pretty high pain tolerance to piercings, but honestly my belly button hurt more than my septum. to the point that i literally passed out in my friends bathtub 😭 but then again i honestly think it was just nerves idk

    I’m 13 and haven’t got a belly piercing (yet) maybe when I’m fifteen, but I got a lip piercing. It didn’t hurt while getting it done but the after pain is horrible! Especially with things being more complicated then they used to be, like accidentally chewing the bar of my piercing while eating and feeling my skin rip, but you wont even notice it theres after a month or so. I’d say worth it for the cute piercings I get to were with them though

    Frehsman year I was skipping class in the bathroom and a group of girls pierced their belly buttons in the next stall over. A group of 4 walked into the handicapped stall, then I heard a "this won't hurt" right before another one screamed lmao.

    it didn’t really hurt for me all that much, it was just really awkward and felt REALLY weird. like i think i was too distracted by having someone stick their finger in my belly button than the actual needle going through it lmao

Or the hpv vaccine, like it hurt but not in a way were it made me do anything more than a little wince and I'm thirteen, so u guys should be fine, honestly it's basically over before you even have time to prepare yourself, so you'll notice but it's si quick the pain won't even matter

    Mine hurt a bit like 6/10 some others might hurt more or less but it was soooo worth it it's so pretty and summers coming up too sooo but if anyone's having second thoughts it's really worth it! You might have pain for a day or 2 but that's alright so worth it might be the best choice in my life
