I'd say 2, at least...they had a ton of hits from mid 80's to late 90's. I was in middle school(13)when this song came out. Which means the kids in high school loved them. Which means the people who were buying concert tickets were 20-30 years old. In the 90's. I went to high school with went to see Bon Jovi. Aerosmith was the same way, music for 70's teens, 80's teens and then 90-2000's with the Armageddon soundtrack.
Bon Jovi is an American rock band formed in 1983. They had a lot of great songs such as "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "You Give Love A Bad Name", "Bad Medicine", "I'll Be There For You", "Always", "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", "Who Says You Can't Go Home", "Born To Be My Baby", "Lay Your Hands On Me", "Bed Of Roses" "Something For The Pain", "Lie To Me", "These Days", "Blaze Of Glory" & many more.
Hey Dagmar!! I could understand the apathy SalvoG expressed. I found Bon Jovi to be too commercial for my taste. I could skip the whole "hair band" genre & not feel bad about it. They were/are wildly popular & spawned RATT & Poison bands, among others, but each seemed to be all frosting & no cake. I want cake with quality frosting. Hope you are well!
The guitarist in this video is Richie Sambora, who was the co writer of most of the songs with Jon. He was in the band until 2013 and was a huge factor in their success as well as a fantastic singer in his own right.
Seen them 7 times in concert. They are just as good live. Best group. Must hear "WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE" and "BAD MEDICINE" "YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME". Enjoy!
When they first hit the scene, Jon's voice was unmatched. He could easily hit the high notes, and he still had the "grit' in his voice to go along with it. As he's aged, he's had to alter how he sings some of his songs, as he's lost the ability to hit those high notes (Richie Sambora, the long-time guitarist, took over the high stuff), and in recent years Jon's voice has really failed him. But I mean, he's been doing it now for over 40 years, so let's give the guy a break. On another note, you'd think he'd be the ultimate lady's man with his looks and rock-star status, but he's been happily married to his wife Dorothea - who was his high school girlfriend - since 1989 (34 years) and has 4 children with her. He's also a big-time philanthropist with 3 soup kitchens that he opened in Jersey, where people can come in for a meal and pay what they can, or help in the kitchen to pay for it. It's been said that you can catch Jon in the kitchen doing dishes or helping prep the food on his downtime. He's also worked with Habitat for Humanity to build houses in Jersey, and his video for "Who Says You Can't Go Home" (with Jennifer Nettles) shows some of that. In other words, he's just an all-around great rocker and even better human being.
Jon had vocal cord surgery a couple years ago but has since recovered. I heard him singing a new song on a top 40 radio station while driving a couple weeks ago. The minute I heard his voice, I turned to my husband and asked him if that was Jon. His name then popped up on the display. I was completely shocked.
I wasn't a fan as a kid, but when you really listen to the song (which I couldn't do until I was an adult, I can admit it), it's actually very musical and well-produced. The BASS is what really drives this song. One of the main bass lines I wanted to learn when I first started learning to play.
Besides the obvious talent, Jon Bonjovi is a great guy. He has some restaurants that are pay-as-you-can, meaning they serve a lot of people experiencing food scarcity for free. He and his wife, his high school sweetheart, do a lot of great stuff.
Lead singer is Jon Bon Jovi! The band goes by Bon Jovi! I remember exactly where I was when I first heard them! The song was "Runaway" and to this day it is still my favorite! Never heard a man sing that high (spoiler alert)! I have their albums, CDs and wait for it... a VHS tape of 6 of their videos!!! I remember crying when he cut his hair! I'm 65 now, so enjoy this new rabbit hole! Love from Texas 🤠🤠🤠
Seen them on this concert tour when I was 14 years old. I thought when he went flying over the audience that it was the coolest thing I ever seen. Please do more of them. They have lots of awesome songs. Great reaction!! 🙂
It’s impossible to listen to this song and not wanting to rock out and sing aloud to it! It’s iconic. I was a teenager in 90’s and Bon Jovi was my second favourite band. They’re impossible not to like in my opinion.
I watched a documentary that said that this song was SO popular because the notes go up during the oh-oh and that gives it a tinge of youthful hopefulness that brings the energy out more
I'm still reeling from the fact you have never heard that song, even just in passing!!! My favorite song of his is Bed of Roses, and a great showcase of how beautiful his voice is. A friend of mine from college (who looked and sounded just like Jon Bon Jovi) sang it once, and I sang the high harmony with him. Wish I still had that recording. That's my recommendation for your next Bon Jovi reaction.
Raise your hand if you’re Gen X and you’ve seen this video 1 million times🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️ ah MTV when it was actually music television Also, concerts were so much more fun back then so much more fun
Ooooooh them 80’s‼️ What a cool time to be a young adult! Damn we had some great times! And u can’t find any music better than what came out of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and oook the early 90’s! No auto tune just pure talent.✌🏻😎
I was extremely excited when I saw you were reviewing Bon Jovi a few minutes ago. I was hooked first time I heard them and they are my hands down my favorite band. I've never have seen them and if they play here in Iowa again I'm going. Please listen to more of theirs you won't be disappointed. Keep the videos coming 🎧
Soundtrack of my life... I wore out at least three cassette tapes of 'Slippery'... Try 'Have A Nice Day'... I have a tattoo of the happy face! Now my anthem is 'Just Older'
My favourite is “You Give Love a Bad Name.” “Bad Medicine” is a second. “Wanted Dead or Alive” and “I’ll Be there For You” are great showcases of his voice…among many others.
They're great, we had fun in the 80s! Official videos for Wanted Dead or Alive, Runaway, Bad Medicine, You Give Love a Bad Name etc are all incredible. We used to pre-party to this stuff in college.
I was 15 when they hit it big and I worshiped these guys. Definitely can't have great 80's Rock without Bon Jovi. Sad to hear Richie Sambora is no longer with the band. Be sure to check out Wanted: Dead or Alive next, then this album and New Jersey.
Back in the day he was one of the biggest rock heartthrobs of my generation. He is amazing live, I’ve seen Bon Jovi three times back when Richie was with him. It was a shame when they had a falling out. Jon married his high school sweetheart and they are still married.
I saw them in 1985,opening for Ratt ,She''s a Little Runaway was the only song well known that they had at the time.Slippery When Wet came out in 86,and they were instantly successful.
This band puts on an amazing show. . The ability to sing so well wow while running all over the stage and jumping, flying through the air, and interacting with the audience is i enough to qualify this band for greatness. My two favorite songs are Wanted Dead or Alive and I'll be there for you. And I was conflicted about narrowing it down to those choices because of my love for all of their songs on music. And I really can't say that about a lot of other bands. If you're ever on a road trip they are perfect to listen to
You loved it on the radio, you bought the cassette and when you went to the concert it was even better. The energy and fun was amazing. Touring nonstop for months and had to be grueling but they brought the music to you.
Holy smokes this album was everywhere when it came out. It is easy to dismiss them as just another hair band at first but their music stands the test of time.
Not a huge Bon Jovi fan but they had a few songs-definitely anthems for me. Plus, lead singer so gorgeous so loved to watch them (shallow but true). Saw them in concert twice and they were great.
Jon is even more gorgeous in person. Very fair, taller than me (I am tall) and absolutely beautiful. I encountered him on the sidewalk in my old neighbourhood in the 90s...he was able to just walk down the sidewalk without being chased by fans in Toronto, which was really interesting...I didn't even clue in that it was him until he'd walked past me!
Jon has a very compelling charisma that he can turn on and off like a light switch - something that most successful entertainers can do - and on both their Slippery When Wet tour and their Bad Medicine tour the whole band gave me my money's worth of a great time. I love their music and the fact that they stood by Ritchie Sambora through multiple stints in rehab until he refused to quit his addictions, but what I love the most is Jon's emphasis on family (shown through his 30+ year marriage) and humanitarianism (shown through many things including his pay-or-help kitchens).
i was in 8th grade 1986, boys basketball game, we sucked, our record was 5 and 5....we had just lost a home game, in the locker room showering, and this was blaring on a boom box....everyone was singing along haha....80s were so great
I love how you research the artists and tracks that you react to. Thank you for taking the time. I've been listening to this band for 40 years and still love them. They had so many brilliant songs. Always, Lie To Me, This Ain't A Love Song, I'll Be There For You, Bed of Roses. Jon's solo effort, the Young Guns II soundtrack is awesome too. Not a bad track on it.
A real Jersey boy, he opened restaurants along the Jersey shore towns - JBJ Soul Kitchen - in order to feed people good food who otherwise would go hungry. Be like Jon Bon Jovi. Be a good human.
I became a fan of Bon Jovi because of my aunts. I remember being at my grandparents' house one day when I was probably 4/5 years old, so this was 1984/85. My aunts were in their early 20s then and still lived at home at my grandparents' house. They were watching Mtv and this music video came on and they were sitting on the living room floor being thirsty as hell over Jon Bon Jovi and singing along to this song. I looked up to my young aunts and thought they were cool. So, of course they influenced me and my interest in Bon Jovi. They still love Bon Jovi to this day and they are in their late 50s/early 60s.
Oh yes! I was in middle school when they really took off with this song and album! Speaking of the bass, the guy playing is Alec John Such and he passed away last year. He was in the band from 1983 through 1994 and Hugh McDonald replaced him. When they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Oh so many great songs that they've done and many that I would have recommended have been mentioned by many already! Must do more!!!
More Bon Jovi please! They have so many amazing songs! Wanted Dead or Alive, I'll Be There For You, You Give Love a Bad Name, This Ain't A Love Song. There's a LONG list to choose from! Guitarist Richie Sambora is also amazing, as a guitarist and vocalist. He and Jon Bon Jovi co-wrote most of their songs. Incredible pair!
I was born in 86. I love BJs with all my heart and body. I am so SAD that the band comes to Italy…NOT so often, only 2 times since I was 18 and free to go to concert. And I WAS THERE. Thanks for reaction, ❤❤❤
I loved Bon Jovi!! He is still singing! Still dreamy, even without the long hair! ❤ First concert I went to! I bought shirt, it was a baseball type shirt with a pic of him from the shoulders up and I remember my dad asking me who the girl was on my shirt!😂😂 They have sooo many awesome songs, you should definitely do more! I am so glad you enjoyed this one!❤❤
That man was the subject of many of my early teenage dreams 😂 they were heavily influenced by their fellow New Jersey native, Bruce Springsteen. It's good, energetic, wholesome with a smidge of naughtiness, arena rock. Lots of anthems, which lent itself to the opportunity for a lot of audience participation, made their shows so much fun. I got to see them on the "New Jersey" tour (I recommend 'Lay Your Hands On Me'). Jon just wrote about ordinary everyday, working man things, but with such heart and conviction, they were all very relatable. You missed some good stuff, G 😉
My aunt bought me an original "New Jersey" CD back in 2010. Anytime i put it on in my car, im just vibbin for 40 minutes straigt! That album is the Masterpiece!
THIS is Jersey, not Springsteen. Jon is still making new music, and he also runs Soul Kitchen, a restaurant that feeds people for what they can afford to pay (or for free). He can can sometimes be found doing dishes in the kitchen. THAT"s a rock star. Now do Wanted Dead Or Alive.
My fav Bon Jovi songs are: Bed of Roses, Always, Blaze of Glory and Runaway. But there's so many great songs! :) ooh I forgot about Who Says You Can't Go Home -- I listen to this all the time when I drive back home.
Salvo you mentioned Van Halen & Def Leopard , well most of the bands from the 80's , including Bon Jovi all put on high energy kick ass shows. Always entertaining & a good time for all.
The keyboardist took over the high notes after 1988 when Jon couldn't hit them after hurting his vocal cords. He hasn't been able to do them since; not that he still wasn't a fantastic frontman. Sambora, the guitarist, was great, also. I saw them play live several times.
I saw them on this tour they are great live. You have to check out the music video of Bad Medicine. It has a the late great comedian Sam Kinison in the music video.
Slippery was one of many GREAT albums. A key member of the band was Richie Sambora (talk box) who cowrote the amazing songs with Jon Bon Jovi and who sang beautifully with Jon (Richie joined the band because Jon was an obvious STAR). Richie is an amazing guitarist. You have to try their unplugged stuff with Jon and Richie...Wanted Dead or Aive, Living on a Prayer a very different version. A FAVOURITE band for me along with INXS. What is UNIQUE about the band is that all of the contracts are with Jon Bon Jovi himself and the rest of the band are technically his employees. That put a lot of responsibiities on very young shoulders (Jon was in his early 20s at the time) and Jon has done an incredible job and is now their manager.
My wife and I both love Bon Jovi. We would go every time they played in SLC. One night in our cab on the way to the concert, the cabbie told us that Bon Jovi was by far the most popular band to come every year.
Teen in 80s,started listening to them cause hot girls dig bon jovi😂 found a great band with catchy, fun songs.their concerts were some of best times in my life.checkout you give love a bad name. Or wanted dead or alive.great reaction, much more 80s🤟🤟
Bon Jovi was literally the sound of an entire generation ❤
Yeah, you really can’t overstate how big this whole album was. When this video came out it was the heyday of MTV and it was SO HUGE! 🥰❤️
My geberation. Richie and I are the same age and Jon a couple of years younger.
I'd say 2, at least...they had a ton of hits from mid 80's to late 90's. I was in middle school(13)when this song came out. Which means the kids in high school loved them. This is a great list of songs
A Rock and Roll Anthem for sure!!!!!!
The guitarist in this video is Richie Sambora, who was the co writer of most of the songs with Jon. He was in the band until 2013 and was a huge factor in their success as well as a fantastic singer in his own right.
Yes! I think it is a tribute to Richie that he was ok playing 2nd fiddle because he knew that Jon was a star.
Sambora is more "bonjovi" than Jon. Thats just a fact.
Bed of Roses is a lovely ballad
Seen them 7 times in concert. They are just as good live. Best group. Must hear "WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE" and "BAD MEDICINE" "YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME". Enjoy!

Well said!
He also did a *lot* of fundraising after Hurricane Sandy hit Jersey too to help with rebuilding efforts.
❤

Growing up in a blue-collar home in the Northeast, this is just comfort music.
This song single handedly describes what the music of the 80's was all about.
The best part about 80s rock is the pure joy, excitement, and energy from so many of the bands.
I wasn't a fan as a kid, but when you really listen to the song (which I couldn't do until I was an adult, I can admit it), it's actually very musical and well-produced. The BASS is what really drives this song. One of the main bass lines I wanted to learn when I first started learning to play.
If you want to hear more of a showcase for Jon Bon Jovi's voice, try one of his ballads like "I'll Be There for You" or "Always".
Watching all these reaction videos has made me realize, I grew up in an amazing time in music. Loved it then but really appreciate it now.
They are one of the greatest bands. I grew up in the 80's. I have always said that was the best time for music.
Besides the obvious talent, Jon Bonjovi is a great guy. He has some restaurants that are pay-as-you-can, meaning they serve a lot of people experiencing food scarcity for free. He and his wife, his high school sweetheart, do a lot of great stuff.
my step mom is obsessed with bon jovi and i'm so thankful she raised me listening to them, their music is incredible
Just a bit of Bonjovi history. He was the only one to sign the contract with the label. He signed, and the guys in the band worked for him.
This song is addictive! Once it starts, doesn’t matter where you are you are singing out loud with all the sound you can push thru your vocal cords!
I seriously thought the world stopped rotating for a moment when that haircut occurred! 😀
@@racing2cat It did stop rotating! LOL
Seen them on this concert tour when I was 14 years old. I thought when he went flying over the audience that it was the coolest thing I ever seen. Please do more of them. They have lots of awesome songs. Great reaction!! 🙂
You can’t help but sing along with this song.
It’s impossible to listen to this song and not wanting to rock out and sing aloud to it! It’s iconic. I was a teenager in 90’s and Bon Jovi was my second favourite band. They’re impossible not to like in my opinion.

Also, concerts were so much more fun back then so much more fun
I saw Bon Jovi in 1988, Skid Row opened for them. We had nosebleed seats but when the skywalk lowered, Jon was right in front of us!!! Pretty sweet.
Ooooooh them 80’s‼️ What a cool time to be a young adult! Damn we had some great times! And u can’t find any music better than what came out of the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and oook the early 90’s! No auto tune just pure talent.✌🏻😎

"Wanted dead or alive" is one to listen to.
Wanted Dead or Alive and I'll Be There for You are 2 of my favorite Bon Jovi songs
Your manner is as calming as Bob Ross the painter.
Bon jovi ruled the 80s music decade. They are legendary
"You live for the fight when that's all that you've got"!
💃😍💃
Best songs? All of them!
Keep The Faith

Saw them on that same tour, then a little less than 2 years later and they were the headliners, with Cinderella as their opener :)
It amazes me that it took the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame till 2018 to put these guys in. My favorite song is "Runaway" on their debut album
This band puts on an amazing show. . The ability to sing so well wow while running all over the stage and jumping, flying through the air, and interacting with the audience is i enough to qualify this band for greatness. You loved it on the radio, you bought the cassette and when you went to the concert it was even better. The energy and fun was amazing. Touring nonstop for months and had to be grueling but they brought the music to you.
"Wanted Dead or Alive"!! a MUST!
I grew up in the 60’s & 70’s and love the 80’s big hair bands. definitely my favorite, listen to them every day.❤
Holy smokes this album was everywhere when it came out. It is easy to dismiss them as just another hair band at first but their music stands the test of time.

i was in 8th grade 1986, boys basketball game, we sucked, our record was 5 and 5....we had just lost a home game, in the locker room showering, and this was blaring on a boom box....everyone was singing along haha....80s were so great
Saw them twice live in Australia. So many great songs
Ow you know why they were popular, to the point they are still in rotation on the radio.
I love your energy so much! When this song was played on MTV I recorded it on my VHS and watched it so many times I broke the tape 😂
They were inducted in the Rock n Roll of fame
I still listen to the first 2 abums Bon Jovi and 7800 all the time. So many awesome songs!
Wanted dead or alive is an amazing song but you can never go wrong with Bon Jovi. All the songs from 80’s and 90’s are pretty awesome.
Love this band. They were awesome in concert.
The prettiest of the hair bands
I love how you research the artists and tracks that you react to. Thank you for taking the time. I've been listening to this band for 40 years and still love them. They had so many brilliant songs. Always, Lie To Me, This Ain't A Love Song, I'll Be There For You, Bed of Roses. Jon's solo effort, the Young Guns II soundtrack is awesome too. Not a bad track on it.
This is my favorite Bon Jovi song. I have the Slippery album.

My Jersey boys ❤❤❤
Amazing Bon Jovi❤❤❤❤❤😂 South Africa 🇿🇦
Oh this is a deep rabbit hole Salvo! Please put their song Dead or Alive on your list. It’s a total vibe & one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs. 🔥
Bon jovi🎉 the total gold package from day one
"WANTED, DEAD OR ALIVE" !!!
Bon Jovi used to work as a janitor in a studio. From janitor to recording artist...nice arc.
Another great 80s 'Hair Band'. Glad you liked it Salvo!
I cried when Jon Bon cut his hair!!!
@donnamoskowitz4978 yeah I felt betrayed for a minute there lol
Wanted Dead or Alive from sane album is a must listen.
finally you have 80s vibe in this vibe, no phones, having a good time, saw them live aswell and they were awesome
Though straight forward and simple it has an infectious sound that draws everyone into it!
Saw them when they started out in early 80’s….. they opened for Journey. You could tell they had it all.Yes,a talk box.
My aunt bought me an original "New Jersey" CD back in 2010. Anytime i put it on in my car, im just vibbin for 40 minutes straigt! That album is the Masterpiece!
My favorite Bon Jovi song is " Bed of Roses ".
Grew up in 80’s, this was a great song at the roller skating rink too
Salvo you mentioned Van Halen & Def Leopard , well most of the bands from the 80's , including Bon Jovi all put on high energy kick ass shows.
Bon Jovi and Bruce Springsteen, the rock heroes of New Jersey.
Songwriter Desmond Child has written tons of hits for bands, including this song and also “You Give Love A Bad Name” for Bon Jovi.
Bon Jovi has so many good songs on multiple albums
I was in my mid 20s when this came out and I felt the same as you lol I definitely appreciate them now😅
Hi you will love their song wanted dead or alive just as good as this one or maybe a little better.
I saw them on this tour they are great live. You have to check out the music video of Bad Medicine. It has a the late great comedian Sam Kinison in the music video.
@SalvoG your shout out is eerily similar to the shoutout I make to my younger self for Queen! Thank you for another great reaction❣💯
My big claim to fame is running into Jon on the sidewalk in Yorkville (downtown Toronto)
React to Wanted Dead or Alive, or Young Guns. Good movie too.
Such a great song. I actually like Blaze of Glory which is kind of a companion to it.
The only hair band I cared for.
My wife and I both love Bon Jovi. We would go every time they played in SLC. One night in our cab on the way to the concert, the cabbie told us that Bon Jovi was by far the most popular band to come every year.
Absolutely fantastic live, saw them live twice in the eighties"wanted dead or alive"is one of my favorites 😊
Teen in 80s,started listening to them cause hot girls dig bon jovi😂 found a great band with catchy, fun songs.their concerts were some of best times in my life.checkout you give love a bad name. Or wanted dead or alive.great reaction, much more 80s🤟🤟
The Pride of NJ
Richie Sambora has such an incredible voice too. He also put out a solo album that was really good.
“Bed of Roses” is a great example of Jons’ incredibly powerful voice.
Take a look at Dry County, extended version. Richie's solo is crazy
