A virtuous pursuit to establish new boundaries of dhrupad, no longer confined by traditionalist and patriarchal notions.

Veena is played by Saraswati and was widely practiced since ancient times by women. Idk where tf you got a "patriarchal notions" why cant you just admire her talent and virtuosity rather than always trying to be "revolutionary" there are many other contemporary female rudra veena players too. But no we gotta make a sensational sh!t show to get attention. Ugh.

@@iamyouu First of all, what is the purpose of this kind of negativity if I genuinely enjoyed this performance? Secondly, have you ever spoken to any women and heard about their experiences in the Indian Classical Music community? Maybe you should consider that you do not, in fact, know what you're talking about and are embodying precisely the attitude I'm talking about.

@@MappingMinds my friend it’s you that commented in a negative way, which is what bought up this conversation in the first place. Idk who you interacted with, a few months back I have interacted with various age groups *of women in regards to their career in music. While they did express concern for other things. They did not say they were oppressed and ruled by a patriarch. Someone who is delusional like you might interpret having a male instructor also as a patriarchy. But the truth is far from your own psychological reality. Goodluck living with that and stop gaslighting the rest of us into your own propaganda. Go talk with other female musicians out of your “circle”. And get a life. Advance the parampara if you can.

When Madhuvanti ji plays, there is no need for percussion. She is the full orchestra.🙌🫶🌹j.

Rudra veena is the most mystical instrument to my untrained ears... very beautiful synthesis... 12.22am listening to this in the farm. My bottomless pranaams. Watching from the philippine islands. Thank you thank you. namaskaram. Shivoham Shivoham.

I love the beauty you evoke, Madhuvanti! If you're ever in the market for another mic, I recommed the new Aston Element. It really picks up lots of bass that small diaphragm condensers don't and it responds beautiful to a preamp/compression, cheap too.

A rich pensive raag that you performed here. Thank you, Madhuvanti for your artistry and for questioning tradition here. After all, questioning is what keeps tradition robust.

Beautiful, compelling ..... Question if I may : as in Charukeshi (Carnatic in origin I was told) , is there a South Indian counterpart or origin to Hamsadwhani ? Thank You .

Hamsadhwani was borrowed from Carnatic music

As lovely as always - consistently wonderful.
You appear to be using a Zoom H-6, correct? I've seen a number of musicians using that recorder. Excellent sound quality.
