(A tip for rat owners) if you have a pee spot for your rats and are trying to potty train them, I recommend putting a rock were you want them too pee...they LOVE peeing on rocks especially Female rats. Just try it, it works tell me if it works for you bye!

This is such a brilliant idea! I am going to do the same thing when mine are all able to be in the grown up cages as I currently have two of these and a large cage but had an unexpected litter (bought a pregnant rat unknowingly) so when the baby girls are big enough I’ll put them all in the girls cage and put all the boys in one like this. 👏🏼👏🏼
Awesome video. Just a friendly comment...I was always under the impression that rats shouldn't be in too high of a cage without breaks in case they fall. I know you have a lot of hammocks but would a big shelf in the middle (maybe made out of the bottom of your second cage) help. In saying that I have some extremely clumsy rats who are terribly uncoordinated jumpers! Take care!
Probably good thought for older or sick rats but it's probably not a problem for most since they are so agile, though putting a rope climbing thing below a hammock or something similar as a precaution wouldn't do any harm!

One of my rats fell down only 20 inch, but hurt himself. 10 days later he had to be put down, because he couldn't even stand up, didn't want to eat or drink. He had no broken bones, but hurt his head and apparently suffered from neurological trauma, so that he could move his whole left side like the other one, but he had no fine tuning on his movements and couldn't even chew right. Fallproof your cages. He was only 14 months old.
ahh I've been excited for this video for a while! If you're concerned about Rolo, maybe you could try adding baskets to the side of the cage? They work great as extra platforms/levels in general and are pretty cheap to find! You could also find some thicker fabric to make hammock "levels" in certain areas, which double as a sleeping spot too :)

I have the same cage (a single one) for my two rat girls. And I have the same problem with them peeing on the plastic ledge. I've tried to put a small toilet in the corner but they still pee on the ledge😣 and today I caught one of them sleeping in the toilet so I guess they use it to sleep instead 😅 Loved this video it was really nice to watch. Especially at the end when the rats were exploring.
Thought it'd be fun to drill holes around that square branch toy, & put lil nuts & foods in there for them to forage & chew for. Love your setup, & your lil guys! I need to find a breeder, I want what you have , dumbo ears, & curly fur... None of the pet stores carry them any more though, I think so they're not fed to snakes:(

I jus got my first ever two baby girl rats and I love them to death! For Christmas I’m getting them a three tier cage with a ton of toys! My babies come up to me and sleep with me a ton! But one of them is still hesitant to come straight up to me without a treat, but they both don’t mind me picking them up!

I got the same ferplast single cage, and i had the same idea as you, stacking one on another, and i wondered how they came apart, i was thinking about getting one of the double midwest critter nations, but there really expensive Then again, my four girls free toam that much, my whole bedroom is like there cage 😂 they literally oy use the cage to sleep in, and if i had a ratty hammock hanging from my ceiling, they would probably sleep in that I have inadvertently let them free roam all night before, and they just came and got in bed with me, so, i was playing with them, and i laid down to let them climb on me, next minute my eyes were closed, i woke up the following morning with one of my girls laying on my pillow with her head up against my face One snuggled up in my armpit, one laying on the dvd shelves behind me, and another laying on my bed between my legs where cats usually sleep 😂
I believe I have ferplast furat tower. Its second hand... bar spacing is just over the half inch mark though!! Do I need to mesh it!? ❤ Love your videos!!! xx
@@sageblack2925 I’m not sure I know of that, I have a savic royal 95 and yes it’s very good, it’s also really expensive and I half regret paying so much when I could have got the pet planet rat and ferret but there’s mixed ideas on the quality of that cage. If you stuck for ideas try joining the Facebook group rat care uk, they’re all pros on there. Getting new babies is so exiting, I hope they’re all doing well

a have a similar cage from ferplast (furet twoer) and I have so much trouble cleaning it...I alsways end up crawling with my upper body inside it which is a lot of pain...do you have any tips in havin it easier? how do you clean the cage or does it take you ages aswell becasue there are no proper doors?
yeah, same. my biggest problem though are adding and taking away the accessoires, that's when I have to crawl inside because I can't reach the behind or anything really :/ looking for a wy to make a door inside like the critter nations have

I would like to get the cage you have because I know you are very honest and take good cars of your rats. However, I do not live in the UK and I can’t find the cage on my amazon. IV watched some of your other videos, and it seems like you have to many pets to give them the 1on 1 interaction they need. Each animal need different times out of there cage, rats definitly need around 6-8hours I think is best
The only animals I have that need 1 on 1 interaction are rats and mice. The rest are observation pets. I wouldn’t call that “too many”. Perhaps you are confusing me with someone else, in the grand scheme of things I have an average number of animals.
Moments like that make it all worth it! It took him a long time to get to this point! After about a year of age was when he started getting really cuddly!

Same I have zip ties hanging up toys in my cage all you need to do is change them every time you clean the cage even if they do chew through all the zip ties they most likely aren’t strong enough to escape
How do you litter train them? Do you need to replace all the bottom bedding when you clean the cage or does it stay mostly clean if they use a litter box?

if you have two full grown rats and one of them dies I figure you need to get another buddy for them. would it be better to get one or two rats that are older or would it be okay to get younger rats as long as you introduce them correctly and stuff
Great i found your video today, I just got a new cage today, I needed some inspection. I spend an hour already trying to make it comfy for my one girl, who will be using it in a few days, she will be giving birth around Saturday and I will use the new cage as her nursery... Du you have any advice for that use? I already removed alle of the hammocks cause that's where she loves to be but I'm afraid she will give birth in one up high.
I know I'm not Imee, but I'd say that if you're using it as a nursery cage, just try to keep everything low to the ground for now! Give her a lower shelf or two so that she can get away if necessary, as well as a couple of hides or boxes in case she chooses to give birth in one of them. A few chews and toys is really all else you need. Once the babies become more independent, you can start giving her higher shelves/hammocks so for her to retreat to, and slowly start to add stuff once the babies open their eyes and become more active around the cage :)

really not too much off a problem, rats can fall from an average of 10ft and be fine, like cats they always land on their feet

Thats a good idea! I had a look in some shops for good baskets but they didnt have the usual ones ive seen people use but ill keep looking!

Takes me ages! I'm actually getting a new cage because of it. I have to completely take the top off the tray and clean it that way

The furat cage is sold at almost every pets at home. It’s I think £85 for one.
