I absolutely had no idea that Rod Serling hosted a game show! It's neat to see Bill Bixby before Courtship had aired. This show made me laugh. Rod: "Tom and Judy, you are being very consistent about the whole thing". Thanks for posting.
It's sooooo weird to see Rod Serling doing ANYTHING ELSE other than Twilight Zone or Night Gallery, but game show host? He actually smiles and laughs on here? Creepy! I remember seeing Courtship of Eddie's Father as a kid but never seen it on TV ever again. It's been so long I can't remember what that show was about, lol. I didn't know The Liar's Club was out way back when, I only knew of the ones with Allan Ludden in 1979 era, the scene looked like being in a bar or cocktail lounge.
Most of the opening sequence of this episode was later animated/transcribed for Koren Shadmi's excellent 2019 graphic novel on Rod Serling, "The Twilight Man", as part of a section on his career lull between TZ and Night Gallery, where Serling claims he didn't even know why he took the hosting job on LC b/c "the pay was paltry", and suggests it was probably due to him enjoying being back in the spotlight again.
I just read that! I normally don’t read graphic novels but when I saw The Twilight Man title and the drawing of Rod Serling on the cover I thought I’d take a look at it. It was really good! Serling was a brilliant man who tragically died way too young.
The Bill Armstrong run was my favorite. Three or four contestants, those distinctive "flapping" sound toteboards, and odds multipliers for betting made for a better game. Didn't realize the show went back this far, though!
WOnder if these shows, since this show was syndicated in every US incarnation, exist somewhere. I think one of these came with a recently released Twilight Zone or Night Gallery retrospective.
You Can See The Hard Up Stars On This Show As They Lie Their Buts Off For Cash What A Game " You Just Know it Was The Devil in The One Who Came up With This Game " Don't Lie To Yourselves Now "
Dude, game shows have never been designed to stimulate the intellect. They are, first and foremost, a form of entertainment. You're entitled to your opinion, but the cheap shots towards other game shows like Wheel of Fortune are uncalled for.

I never knew Rod Serling hosted this-what a classic! Thank you for posting!
18:36 “I don’t know why I do this show, I should be home writing!” Mr. Serling you are SO right!

That was great
This version was syndicated by Metromedia Producers Corporation for 26 weeks.

Rod "lied" when he said Norm daily commuted from Las Vegas to Los Angeles to tape this show. The show actually taped five shows in one day.
Well this may have been the first of five in which case, Rod's right
Rod Serling-game show host!? Whodathunk it!

Betty White was hot back in the '60s!

@@catholicpriest1 I never thought of my Aunt Edith hot!!!!! she was my grandfather's sister :)
ABSOLUTELY RIGHT ABOUT BETTY WHITE!
And now we know where that bit on "This Old House" originated. And Rod Serling made a great game show host!

That is a surprise, Rod Sterling (The Twilight Zone) is the host of the "funny " game show.
gerry wilson thought allen ludden was the only host of this show you learb something new every day even at ny age--70
The same Rod Serling from Twilight Zone?
Yep. In this period he was apparently doing anything and everything for a buck. Even hosted a local program on KNXT (Channel 2) in Los Angeles.
👀🙀

Way more intellectual than "Wheel Of Fortune". 😀

Rod couldn't make it 30 minutes without a cigarette. He died in 1975 at the age of 50.
Ironic, it was because of complications during open heart surgery.
He is a great host
Rod was one heck of a very heavy smoker. That's what killed him.
He is a great host
@ 14:43 Betty Walker didn't do it honest
B4 "The Twilight Zone"
Bixby is cringy.
Really!?
