    We often take winter holiday trips as well, not seeing anyone for days at a time is nice.

    Looks like a beautiful area. I really want to get up that way and explore it.

    I am very fortunate to have the GWNF less than 30 minutes from my house (western central VA). Although we don’t have ample rock crawlin trails, we do have miles and miles of trails to explore and camp. Something I will NEVER take for granted as I value my time in the great outdoors. GREAT video

      I'm definitely jealous! It takes me 3-3.5 hours to get out there from where I'm at. I never get tired of making the trip out to the GWNF though!

    These trails are right in my backyard, and I absolutely love having them there.

    The dreary overcast weather combined with no one else being there, kind of made it seem a little eerie out there! Thanks for giving me an early look at the video!

    Nice video. That area has really changed over the last 9 years! Long Run was the first trail I did in my FJ in 2016.

      Thanks! I tried going to Long Run about two or so years ago and they had a manned security gate set up, to prevent anyone from going up the trail during the line replacement.

    I've lived east of Mississippi all my life even lived out west I'd take trees any day over barron landscape an rocks. The Appalachian mountains are by far the prettiest landscapes with over 120 different species of trees.

      Although I do love the Appalachians, the Rockies are my personal favorite place that I've taken the Jeep. I'm hoping to get back out there this year.

    Most of the overland videos that I've seen focus on bright sunny weather. For some reason I really like your aerial shots of the overcast day!

    As always, nice video. I hope to make it make to that area again someday, was there this past September and was able to drive Sugar Tree (after watching your video on it) and made it to Dolly Sods, so many other trails I’d like to check out but just didn’t have enough time so I’m adding this one to my list for when I get back down there.

      Awesome! Thanks so much for continuing to watch! These trails definitely weren't challenging, but the views were incredible, particularly when you get to VEPCO Rd. Aside from Flagpole Knob and Whitetop Mountain, they are some of the best I've found in Virginia.

    Looked like a good ride. Also looked like there were some additional areas where you could camp. At least from some of the drone shots.

    • @DefiantOffroad
      @DefiantOffroad  11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Some of the cleared areas could technically be camped in, but there were no signs that they'd been used for that (no fire rings, etc). The area isn't far from Flagpole Knob though, and there's gazillions of campsites on that trail.

      @@DefiantOffroadWe have never been to Flagpole Knob. We have been to Reddish Knob. The views there are awesome.

      I mean, am I wrong? I can see how they'd report it now: "Armed man detained for flying drone near power lines!". Off to Gitmo I would go.
