Yo I really appreciate how deep y'all go into these topics about relationship, and life that people don't often give thoughts on and critically think about even if they're hypothetical situations that might or might not happen in our lives in the future. It helps get us thinking and maybe even be mentally aware of these topics. I've been watching yall since the beginning. Love the episodes 949 as usual! LFG!
The Masculine v. Feminine conversation was super interesting. The story of Seolah's uncle is an example of another way that a man can be in their masculine and lead his wife/family. He had to be able to see what was best for his family in the long run and make it happen. I think what he did was very masculine, if anything.
Seolah's story was really about how ambitious you are in your career. Her uncle is clearly not that ambitious career wise (not a good or bad thing). Someone who is ambitious would have went for the better job. He did something that is traditionally considered feminine and it was positive. We've just been programmed to consider masculine traits like ambition as a positive and feminine ones as negative.
@@mko0lpmko0lp Thing is though, her uncle's actually quite ambitious. You don't get to be a professor, one desired by the likes of Yale and Princeton nonetheless, without having insane drive. It's just that he was more ambitious about being a good husband/father than anything else and, on a human level, I find that admirable.
She is, but wish she'd let people finish their thought before interjecting a word. It naturally redirects them to not say what they were trying to say and agree with what she thought they were going to say. Or they lose their train of thought. Megan sometimes does this too.
I really like the dynamic between Seolla and Jason lol and also I don't quite get why having a feminine side is considered a bad thing.. I def agree with Seolla.
Jason just needs to tie in the word respect when he makes his arguments bc he is right. I love a debate where both sides are right and both sides are making good arguments
For the feminine vs masculine subject. Preferably a man who’s in the Middle will last longer. One who knows how to lead nd be assertive but as well emphasize his emotions when needed. For example a father telling his son” I love you “ shows vulnerability while also teaching him how to be man shows leadership nd independent.
Got married 5 years ago. Was engaged for 4 years and saved up. Cultural wedding was for the parents/family and luckily all the red envelopes paid off that wedding + more. And a week later had the normal wedding for friends etc
Being only masculine isn’t being strong, it’s being incomplete. A whole individual is in control and harmony over all emotions and facets of themselves. They have the ability to express themselves depending on the situation, as well as the wisdom know when’s appropriate to be aggressive or humble depending on the situation. The Firelord = Toxic masculinity. Uncle Iroh = Healthy masculinity.
About the diamond tester, lab grown diamonds will beep the same as natural diamonds. What doesn't beep are either moissanite or cubic zirconia stones, which are diamond look-a-likes. Your eyes can't even tell the difference hence why the wives are pissed in those interviews. Additionally, people should look into De Beers, the company that controls the world's natural diamonds market by releasing a limited amount of them. Diamonds aren't actually as rare as you think. Just sad to see so much people buy into an idea that results in child labor and bloodshed. I hope people move away from the idea that receiving a natural diamond is "real" love while lab grown or any other alternatives is "fake" love.
There are two types of lab diamond: HPHT and CVD. Due to the molecular properties, some HPHT lab diamonds will not test positive with old school traditional electrical conductive diamond testers (the cheap ones that beep). But that is because the testing technology is old and has not caught up with diamond technology. CVD lab diamonds will beep though.
If we take out the masculine feminine terms and look at the structure of a relationship, it involved 2 people. A team with 2 people requires both individuals to be well skilled so when one is struggling in a certain area the partner can jump in and support them. And vice versa. I learned this in my psych class but most successful traditional 2 person relationships include people with equal power levels. When there's an imbalance of power the relationship is more prone to problems. When problems occur the ability to view the situation as us versus the problem rather than you versus me can really save a relationship, but it's incredibly difficult to do when you're caught in the heat of feelings.
My husband and I both invited our exes to our wedding. (He actually had 3 there LOL). We each have a large, close friend group, and the exes are part of our groups. It's been over 7 years since any of us dated them, and they're married or with partners. Promise you - it's not that deep and we were glad they went!
he just has a traditional mindset. he will attract a woman who aligns with him the same way you would with someone who aligns with the way you want to navigate a relationship. there’s always room for growth no matter where you are in life. the point of the podcast is to be open so there’s no reason to shame him for doing just that.
@@gettmonnnie No shame to him but he reflect on where his beliefs are coming from and the underlying premises - which wasn’t discussed on the pod. Traditionally it was because the men out-educated, out-earned and out careered the women so much (2-3x or more) that it’d maximize household income/outcomes to focus on the guy’s careers. Women’s career prospects have come such a long way since the “traditional” male breadwinner days and if they have equal or better career prospects, why would they prioritize the guys instead. Or maybe at least acknowledge that reality.
I strongly disagree, I don’t think the word selfish is right. I feel like Jason just has a traditional mindset and he wants to be more in charge for certain situations. A man’s nature is to lead and take charge and conquer obstacles in front of them. I feel like there is no right or wrong way to be it really just comes down to the dynamic of the relationship and what you want. There’s no black and white answer. I’m sort of like Jason in this aspect so I feel and understand where he’s coming from but some people might not be able to understand it to the full extent.
My God, I can’t stand Jason!! Boy you need to grow up! If you can’t sacrifice for your woman, don’t expect the respect. Relationships is about working together for an end goal. It ain’t always gonna go your way and it’s not just about you.
why he's never been in a long-term relationship and likely will never be lol unless that girl is on her knees 24/7 on a leash waiting for his command, she'll never be submissive enough for him...
His age and immaturity are showing. One day when he’s older he’ll see that a relationship should be a partnership, not a leader and follower. He has a selfish mindset and thinks that in order for a relationship to work, 1 person HAS to give up their life for the other, which is completely untrue. Hope he figures it out
He’s saying that a man should be the one to take charge and make decisions and just act like how a man is supposed to in general. It’s not the woman’s job to lead the man and the relationship. This is Just an example but most girls would want their man to grab their hand and lead them through a crowd of people, the woman will trust and follow him through the crowd
@@jvb21Still, he expects the woman to wholeheartedly blindly trust the guy to "lead her" by dropping/quitting her career prospects for the guy to basically show if she loves and trusts him enough. But when asked if he would ever do that and make such a sacrifice for his partner even if the woman has the higher salary or better job opportunity he doesn't expect to make that sacrifice. Sounds like a double standard to whom should be the one sacrificing for the sake of the other.
Bro i think it’s just differing opinions. Everyone lives their lives differently, and girls also have different preferences of the man they want. He’s living his life the way he believes in and he doesn’t deserve the shits you’re throwing at him.
I think everyone except Jason are much more open minded but are still firm in their beliefs. Jason is very one-tracked which isn’t bad, but I think he can afford to be more flexible in certain areas while being firm.

I don't personally agree with this way of thinking, but I cannn agree a bit with what Jason was saying about there being less respect from the woman if she has to be in her masculine (whether that means making more money than the man, calling the shots, etc.). The reason I think this comes from this line of thinking: I feel like woman are now encouraged to be in their feminine, and from my understanding that means leaning into the submissiveness and allow their man to lead. So if a woman feels a need to be in their masculine while with a man, it is almost coming from an unnatural state and because they don't have faith in their man doing the work for the relationship as a whole. And if that's what's going on, the woman probably doesn't respect them wholeheartedly because there is a lack of admiration for his leadership. Hope this makes sense.
