Relying on other friends to help get Sora back instead of doing it all on his own like he did during 358/2 Days and KH2. I'm just so proud of him. He is definitely my favorite character.

Riku has had the time and opportunity to grow and for it to feel natural, whereas with the others they're at the beginning of that still, especially kairi
I absolutely love this piece. Not a lot of people seem to understand how sad Riku's story is. Some fans simply see him as the token 'bad-boy best friend' character, the cool guy who goes bad then redeems himself, the Sasuke of the Kingdom Hearts series. You guys really portrayed his struggle - physical battles, mental exertion, and emotional pains - in this one piece of music. I'm definitely subscribing!
Riкυ Yep. This is really late, lol. However I really think unlike Sasuke, Riku was never actually bad. Riku had good intentions the entire time and was always trying to help Sora.
@@Zephhi very true he basically hated himself for giving into the darkness the only thing he wanted to do was protect the things and people he cares about
@@nightfoxgaming5779 Yeah. He was manipulated by Maleficent and let Ansem take over, and he has long since hated himself for that. He was manipulated into thinking that Sora ditched and betrayed him and Kairi, up until Sora killed himself to save her (he was brought back 2 minutes later though).
This piece drives me to tears, I recall in KH1 when he's watching Sora hang out with Donald and Goofy and he just looks on in sadness. No one was there to help him with Kairi yet he continued trying.
This song basically tells Riku's story, starting out as a slave to the darkness and Ansem, sending him spiraling down into the pits of darkness (The first minute, give or take) it then escalates to his ascension in Castle Oblivion, to his downfall in the between stories, with his acceptance at Roxas' last stand.
YES!!! I've always believed that Riku's theme could be made into an epic orchestral arrangement but based on how under-rated the theme typically is (seriously, nobody ever talks about it, all people seem to talk about is "The Other Promise" and the main themes), I never thought it would ever happen... little did I know. Thanks a bunch!
Riku is the most tragic character in the series I believe, and probably my favourite character overall. He sacrifices everything for the sake of his friends, and he's frequently never rewarded for that. But that's alright, because he doesn't expect any reward. He just wants his friends to be able to live happily, even if that means he has to suffer in their place. Thankfully, he starts gaining some much-deserved recognition in Dream Drop Distance.
Failure is a but more poignant that success in my opinion... I'm not trying to tell you you are wrong just saying why I like Terra better... Although I do not like how breathy Terra is, Riku has a much better voice.
Haha, no that's fine, I understand. I definitely enjoy Terra's character too, and it was interesting to see him go full tragic hero. I wouldn't dream of saying you're wrong either, for the record. ^^
A fitting title I think would be 'Return to Light' or 'Remembering the Light' or 'Guardian of Light', because that is what he is truely. He knew what he was as a child in the scene where Sora helps Ventus, Riku is there showing Sora that there are people suffering. Riku knew that. He had that wisdom. But getting older he lost himself comparing himself with Sora and then he fell into darkness completely forgotten his true nature. In time he then found his way back to his true nature as a guardian with the help of his friends.
Riku's theme has become one of my favorite( like the piano version in the first album of the piano version of some of KH ost), because you can feel the melancholy and the struggle in it and I think you did a great job to do so, and even more. Like all your other songs, you add more intensity or give it a different sound, a diffirent angle to listen to with still the main theme. Thank you.
Riku was amazing to see grow and change as a person. He took the darkness in his heart and made it truly something to behold. He really is the strongest character, greeting the darkness as an equal rather than as an enemy
Riku's theme is one of my favourite characters themes^^ The references to Terra 's theme are very well handled, these two sure have a lot in common^^ Love it!
It's been almost two years since Light was released and I'm still not tired of listening to it... but I want to listen to Darkness too ç_ç You're amazing, really. I love so much your re-orchestrations.
I've been... searching for a way to conquer the darkness within me, while we wait for Sora to awaken. There's a reason the organization's been quiet since our battle at Castle Oblivion, and I know it's not because a depletion in members had made them weak. Taking Sora's memory apart, piece by piece was only the first step in what they were trying to do at Castle Oblivion. Right, Sora's memories are what they're after, and they needed all this time until now to absorb every piece of it. The process of putting his memory back together has gone nowhere. They have what's most precious to Sora, his memories of Kairi.
This is honestly the best version of Riku's theme. It encapsulates his entire struggle throughout his journey to overcome his own darkness and in the end he does.
"I gave in to the darkness once and ever since, it's chased me around in one form or another. The seeker of Darkness who stole my body. And now, I'm facing me."
