Liked the episode but noticed one thing: Mack could have acknowledged that Deke helped him out when Yo-Yo thought he was grieving alone. Even when he said he had friends with him, the camera cuts to the new shield agents and leaves Deke completely out.

Season 7 of AOS was just literally the best. 6 seasons worth of character development, drama, and plot all culminating in probably the best final season ever.

For those on Zephir it was like a few minutes so I doubt that someone took over for Mack. I mean maybe if Mack would be there longer. I think that the natural replacement for Mack would be Daisy but since she's in healing pod... Maybe May but she has problems with that empathy thing... Then probably Sousa has the biggest leading experience but he's out of time... So the only person who could lead at this moment would be Simmons because she knows something - at least until Daisy and May would be ok.

I think Simmons said may and yoyo had a month to return back to the zephyr. So maybe may interrogated deke during that time, and then they all went back to the zephyr

Actually, isn't shield already exist as they save them in the last ep?? So if Deke and Mack form a shield agency on their own. isn't there 2 shield at the time the future come because I doubt they will bring the whole deke squad along as it will affected the timeline.
I was disappointed in this episode by the way the writers made Mac act so defeatist. I realize they made him that way for plot reasons but it was so contrary to his character. Yes, he lost his parents but he's not just some average guy. He's Mac, he's SHIELD Director. He should be the one who inspires Deke to keep going, not the other way round.
I think he would have acted differently, if he had known the fight was still on. But he thought they had won. And it would also have made a difference if an enemy had killed his parents in the present, but in the past, that affects his younger self, who will never grow up with all these good memories of his parents, etc. That is quite a brutal thing to happen to him, and he had no immediate mission or goal to distract him or keep him going. He thought the chronocoms were defeated. Of course there is always other threads to come, but I would think it likely that he might have left shield, at least for a while, hadn't the chronocoms reappeared and in the process Deke helping him to cope with the loss and in the end showing him that it is not all that bleak for young Mack and his brother.
Thing is : not only did he lose his parents, but he had to kill robot-Aliens that looked exactly like them; even though it’s technically not them, shit like this has to hurt
I didn't see things that way, Mac is incredibly moral and emotional. Remember how he wanted to stay in the AI with his daughter even though everyone figured out it wasn't real and collasping all around them? He is a very family oriented guy, he was defeated he was grieving he grew with his parents and to have them murdered over a job and responsibility he loves so much and then having to kill the Chronucoms they looked exactly like isn't something to just shake off.

The Blind Wave guys pointed out that events of the episode are being told from Deke's viewpoint to Agent May. It would therefore be logical that Deke sees himself as the guy who holds everything together while Mac loses his way for a moment before his faith is eventually restored... by Deke, of course. Deke's over-the-top exaggerated perspective also allows for the writers to use 80s themes like blood splattering everywhere, 80s music with misremembered lyrics, A-Team vibes, and the robots being a cross between Short Circuit, Terminators and Daleks.

In the past few years, Mack has had to go through being possessed by the Kree, watching most of his shield friends die (both by Hydra and the Inhumans in S2), seeing Hunter and Bobbi leave, losing his daughter (again), watching Yo-Yo die in his arms (in the future), watching Fitz die in his arms, leaving Coulson to die and take his place, dealing with Sarge, traveling to both the future and the past, and now having to kill alien dopplegangers of his parents. The man has been through a lot, and theres only so much a person can take before breaking. Mack broke
We are over the halfway point on the "going away tour" of Agents of Shield. Only 6 episodes left before this series says goodbye for good. Jeff Loeb's biggest success getting 7 seasons on TV before the plug was pulled by Kevin Feige who now controls everything Marvel. Loeb also had a hand in the Runaways, Cloak & Dagger, and the four shows on Netflix - now all gone.
I may be reading to much into this, but I didn't like how Yo-Yo thought Mack went through this grieving process alone when she knew Deke was with him. It's like she's saying she believes Deke wouldn't be there for him.
I used to like Agents of Shield before it ventured off from Hydra, I understand the writing needed to be fresh, but this season is a MAJOR disappointment for being its series finale...this episode has got to be one of the WORSE episodes I've ever seen in any season
Mack befriended Fitz when he needed it the most, and Deke never gave up on Mack in that timeline. He was unknowingly paying back for his bobo.
