I have been drumming for over 50 years and remember when beginners set sounded like the name implied. Luckily for drummers of all levels this is not the case anymore. I feel we are in the golden age of drum kit bargains and choices. The sound and build quality of these Yamahas are proof of that.

Sounds perfect to myself. Those stock heads hold their own. I have the stage custom shells on my bucket list.
I currently have the SPL velocity birch shells with Ambassadors and Emporer's around. Emad2 on the kick drum and tuned up with a drum dial and I am about as close to the stage customs aside from dropping $799.
I have been in lessons one year and aspire to make my kit sing like your playing Brother. 🫵

Awesome! Glad you like the sound. I was pleasantly surprised by the stock heads, too. I am looking forward to throwing on some Evans G2's and and Emad 2 on the kit to hear the difference.
Glad to hear you are getting lessons and improving! That's super exciting, man. Keep up the good work :)
