Hi guys, Mark Colton from CREDO here, thank you for the kind words on my voice, the art work isn't that bad though lol. Drop me a line, exciting new CREDO News
Sorry for having a go at the art Mark, it's never been my favourite but the music is excellent. If you still have my email address after all these years feel free to let me know what's coming up. Sounds very interesting indeed.
El Camino- The Black Keys Infected- Hammerfall Call To Arms- Saxon American Capitalist- Five Finger Death Punch Chickenfoot III- Chickenfoot Kicking and Screaming- Sebastian Bach Age of the Joker- Edguy Balls Out- Steel Panther Move Like This- The Cars Rock and Roll Submarine- Urge Overkill
Managed to catch the original broadcast. Really enjoy these "lookback" episodes though don't have a 2011 list to add personally. Thanks to Pete, Simon and Steven for taking the time to lookback and share "what was I thinking" versus "what I'm thinking today". Cheers, lads!
Speaking of Symphony X. I just saw them live up here in Michigan. They sounded great. Russel Allen just may be the best metal singer ever! Don’t miss them live.

Great video gents! Looking back to 2011 was really interesting and a really good time! My top ten NOW would be... 10) Stratovarius - Elysium 9) Magnum - The Visitation 8) Mogwai - Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will 7) Opeth - Heritage 6) Einherjer - Norron 5) Saxon - Call To Arms 4) Insomnium - One For Sorrow 3) Hell - Human Remains 2) Amorphis - The Beginning Of Time 1) Primordial - Redemption At The Puritans Hand Bands that were in my list at the time, but no longer are: Trivium, Anthrax, Foo Fighters and Powerwolf. (Replaced by Einherjer, Insomnium, Magnum and Stratovarius who were just outside at the time).
1. Chickenfoot- III 2. Uriah Heep- Into the Wild 3. Dream Theater- A Dramatic Turn of Events 4. Yes- Fly From Here 5. John Wetton- Raised in Captivity 6. Steve Hackett- Beyond the Shrouded Heaven 7. Steve Howe- Time 8. Opeth- Heritage 9. Saxon- Call To Arms 10. Whitesnake- Forevermore
I had a doubletake yesterday when I saw the new irn bru ad for the euros with the Scotland fan who looks like Steven Reid talking about our mannschaft. Looking forward to Simon discussing Rocks, which I bought in Edinburgh before the Rainbow gig at the newly reopened Playhouse in 1976.
Can't quite do the comparison thing. I have made additions, subtractions and rank changes over the years but I really can't remember when or what they were. I graduated from the "olds" years ago and I am currently in the middle of the "olders" coming down hard on the "oldest." So I'm just going to list my top ten as they stand today. 1. Yellow Matter Custard: One More Night in New York City 2. Arena: Seventh Degree of Separation 3. The Tangent: IV - Comm 4. The Flower Kings: Tour Kaputt 5. Rory Gallagher: Notes From San Francisco 6. The Fuzztones: Preaching to the Perverted 7. Opeth: Heritage 8. John Wetton: Raised in Captivity 9. Journey: Eclipse 10. Circa: And so On
It's really surprising for me how far back these albums came out. I still have the feeling that they are quite recent. Time flies by fast. Pagan's Mind and Arena along with Whitesnake are my top 5 of this time. But for sure Dream Theater's album is still my number one. However, Symphony X song When all is lost is my number one song not only of 2011 but in their career.
Mine: Sun Caged - The Lotus Effect Haken - Visions Leprous - Bilateral Myrath - Tales of the Sands Caligula's Horse - Moments From Ephemeral City Druckfarben - s/t Redemption - This Mortal Coil Arch/Matheos - Sympathetic Resonance Glen Drover - Metalusion Riot - Immortal Soul In 2011, I probably had Symphony X and Dream Theater in mine, but they haven't worn well with me. Symphony X lies just outside, and Dream Theater further down.
Pretty much all the stuff you haven't listened to in your intro is something I have listened to some of in the last week. I normally skip black stone cherry when it comes on now though. Need the right mood for it.
I wish I would have seen a bunch of those groups. I did see the megadeath testament priest show in 1990.i also saw heart that year, and satrioni and Eric Johnson. I was about 20. That was my first taste of freedom ,that year. I wish I would have had friends that were more into metal and thrash like you guys.great fun listening to the times you have seen those bands.
I’m sorry, it went to the next video, and I thought I was posting a comment on the last video I’ve seen about the concert. Anyway, I’d like this one too. Good rankings as always.
Brussels Affair by Rolling Stones was originally a bootleg and had been broadcast on King Biscuit Flower Hour. Has the 4 best songs off the new Goat's Head Soup album plus Rip this Joint and All Down the Line from previous album. 5 El Camino -Black Keys 4 Wasting Light -Foo Fighters 3 Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 -Beastie Boys 2 Let England Shake -PJ Harvey 1 Dead Roots Stirring - Elder
2011, was very much part of my out of touch with new music period.however since my covid get back in touch period I've bought 11 albums from the year so my top 11 is easy. In no order Dream Theater ,Symphony X, Magic Pie, Uriah Heep, Magnum ,Black Country Communion, Arena, Nightranger, The Tangent, Saxon, Black Stone Cherry.
IU - Last Fantasy. Kittie - I've Failed You. Attention Deficit Domination - Attention Deficit Domination. Hank Williams III - Ghost to a Ghost / Gutter Town. f(x) - Hot Summer. Premonition 13 - 13. Whitesnake - Forevermore. Dead to This World - Sacrifice. Vicious Rumors - Razorback Killers. Pentagram - Last Rites.
These revisit/revision shows are interesting in many ways, as already alluded to- the march of time, the mindset and place we're in at the time, the heavy fast playlisting upon release, as well as so many others we never got round to listening to, as well as those bands who had completely flown under our radar. For me the fanatacism for Flower Kings has waned over the years, Tangent- amazing music but I tire of lefty preaching and on the nose social commentary lyrics, and like Steven, Symphony X had sailed past me. Many would still be in place on revised top 10 basis, so I would list top 10 and HM just outside, in no order, Pallas, Magic Pie, Saxon, BCC, Opeth, Animals as Leaders, Blood Ceremony, Elbow, Ulver, Uriah Heep HM's (next 10) Evanescence, Within Temptation, Steve Hackett, Florence & the Machine, Elephant9 (HM as live at BBC), Kate Bush 50 words for snow- still can't really 'get' it, Symphony X, DT, Wobbler, Magnum Oh, and the Puffin's quite a decent ale
Great idea, fun show. George knows….shhh, don’t tell him. Lol Had a couple you guys mentioned, and I don’t miss the Opeth growls 😆. need to go through the collection
Mainly a hip hop centric year for me, but some great metal and prog did make my list: 1. Death grips- Exmilitary 2. Asap Rocky- Live love asap 3. Devin Townsend project- Deconstruction 4. Danny Brown- XXX 5. Fleet foxes- Helplessness blues 6. Kendrick Lamar- Section 80 7. Vektor- Outer isolation 8. The Weeknd- Echoes of silence 9. Dream theater- A dramatic turn of events 10. Young fathers- Tape one
My top 10-ish (it's ALWAYS tough/impossible to narrow down a whole year's releases to just 10) - focus is on prog/fusion: Advent Horizon/Immured Aethellis/Northumbria The Alarm/The Sound And The Fury Also Eden/Think Of The Children! Art 'spike' Schloemer/Transfusion The Black Keys/El Camino Brett Garsed/Dark Matter Brian Robertson/Diamonds And Dirt CAB/Live On Sunset Carl Verheyen/The Road Dividers C-Sides/Devitrification Derek Sherinian/Oceana Dream The Electric Sleep/Lost And Gone Forever Well that's already a baker's dozen & only got me through the D's (sorry Dweezil/Live - "In The Moment")...
I really like Steven Reid, but with his not so good audio output together with his heavy accent, often i dont know what the fuck he's saying to be honest
@@garykelly9475 It's an interesting thing Gary, because I don't think I have a strong Scottish accent either, but reaction on the channel when I started and from a few work colleagues over the yers who weren't;t from here would suggest that I maybe do. People are more used to the west coast twang because they hear it in dramas etc. Give the closed caption a try Mirror - they have no idea what I'm saying either!! But then neither do I half the time! Thanks for watching anyway.

That's a great list George. Some albums there that I should have mentioned in 2011 and some I should have mentioned on the show!
