I've had this exact staple gun for years in my tool cabinet. Never used it until today to fix an issue. I didn't have the instructions and kept loading incorrectly. After a few frustrating minutes I came to TH-cam and found your video. Got it all working and very grateful for your video!!!!!!

I spent a half an hour trying to figure out how to load the brads into a 2nd hand Stanley tool I bought at a reclaim center. Thanks for showing me how. I never would have guessed that on my own!

I bought a Stanley aircraft aluminum at goodwill, so if course no manual. had to figure it out on my own, but until your video I didn't realize that it also works for nails. I had no clue what a brad was. Yes I'm a 50yr old woman who recently got into refurbishing dressers/,tables etc. Torsl newbie. lol. Ty

I have had mine now for just over 2 years. In that time I have replaced dust covers on a number armchairs and settees using staples. On bookshelves that I have made I fire in brads to hold the backing board in place. I can honestly say that the gun has never jammed on me in all that time. However, I do agree with people that note that the adjustment for the counter-sink doesn't make a great deal of difference. Putting pressure on the rear of the gun as I fire the staples/brads however, does make a noticeable difference to aid in the counter-sinking. On the whole, it sounds like I have been lucky with mine compared to others. For the price, I'm quite happy, to be honest.

When you adjusted pressure, you held the stapler too high so the direction of increase/decrease wasn't in view. That's what I was looking for since I can't see any difference whichever way I turn it.

The problem with tool reviews as they come out of the box is that they give no info on the life of the tool. Mine had only occasional use and suddenly, just beyond warranty, and without any explanation, died. And Stanley does NOT stand behind this product. No repair parts are available. FORGET THIS PRODUCT!!!
And by the way, the control knob for depth of set is not variable, it's only HI/LO, so tool reviewers should be reading instructions BEFORE they shoot and post a video.

I have one of these staplers....Mine is very, very erratic......works 2 or 3 times then stops. Have to shake it a couple of times then it works again for 2 or 3 more staples. Was going to take it apart but it has these crazy Chinese screws....would not buy another one.

I like the fact that they are making electric guns, compressors can get noisy, but this gun is not up to par. I'd like to see one at double or triple the price point with the ability to fire 2" brad nails, and staples. I'd pay $100 for that gun. Even for the small DIY'er this doesn't seem like a very viable option imo. As of now a compressor seems to be the way to go.

I have one of these. Sadly it died spontaneously after only a handful of uses. Looking at some of the comments here and reviews elsewhere this seem to be all too common with the TRE550 series. Has anyone done on autopsy on this device ? I took mine apart and strangely nothing stood out superficially - the board looked clean with no burnt or popped components, and when I had used my DMM the solenoid, connecting wires, and fuse were tested ok for continuity. I'm not sure where the problem lies. Any help would be appreciated.

  • @ytnnp

I had to replace this twice(under warranty) its still crap, Have to remove and redo at least 50% of the staples and the ones that do seat still need to be hammered in. I only use it to staple canvas on to pine stretcher bars so it shouldnt be a problem at all.

Can tell you're a good guy, and can tell you know your way around tools. However this video was sorely lacking in so far as the depth adjustment knob on the back side of the stapler. I mean I realize that you turned it and said it wasn't working but then you said something like "let's turn it all the way the other way" or something like that and then you just sort of gave up on the whole endeavor. That is the most important feature to me in a stapler and you sort of brushed over it. Other than that you give great tool advice and great tool introduction and explanation of features just fluid on this one in terms of the depth or the strength knob on the back of this one. Is that fair, or am I being unfair on that?

I am a homeowner with a day job who does not do anything construction related for a living. That being said I am working on framing out my basement and Bought this th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt gun. I have done a few walls already, have probably shot a couple hundred nails through this thing and have yet to have a misfire. It works awesome, good depth on every nail if you have your compressor set right. My literal only complaint is that it is a bit heavy and my arm can get a little tired especially whrn I am nailing at odd angles. That being said I am super happy with it and would buy it again. Hoping the old girl allows me to get my whole basement finished out!

Never buy a Stanley product that requires consumables unless you expect it to be a limited use tool because you will never know if you'll be able to refill with the exact exact exact same model.
I have a TRA 700 model staple gun but despite the staples I bought being called TRA700b n35 18 and 18 gauge they dont fit.
So basically if Stanley changes even a single letter or number odds are it's not compatible.
Also just because it says they are compatible with your tools series doesn't mean they are compatible with every tool in that series and they won't tell you that until you read the fine print.
And you thought the cell phone industry invented planned obsolescence.
