The reason everything is suffixed with phobia is because homophopia came first and it originally meant "fear of being assumed to be gay" before eventually becoming "against gay people" thus transphobia, biphobia, fatphobia was born
I think the reasoning is the suffix "phobia" comes from the greek word "phobos", and attaching an english word like "fat" with "phobia" sounds extremely weird. Fear of spiders is not "spiderphobia" it's "arachnophobia", fear of water is not "waterphobia" it's "aquaphobia" and rejection of foreigners is not "foreignphobia" it's "xenophobia"
@Deadland Placebo Today I found out... The More You Know... I never knew that origin.... And I do like to know and understand the Origin of words... Thank you for that insight! And @Renaldy Calixte "Phobia" comes from the Latin Phobos... And so do the prefixes... Hence, Fear of Water is Aquaphobia... Aqua is derived from Latin, Arachnophobia... Again Arachno is derived from Latin... Which makes things such as "Fat Phobia" and "Islamaphobia" sound made up... While they can be and I would even dare to say in some respects are real issues - The words themselves are very derivative. Something such as "Islamaphobia" should have a Prefix more akin to Religious Intolerance GENERAL... I obviously do not know Latin so I cannot provide the correct Prefix - But it is a great example of words being "Co-Opted" without full understanding. It does nto mean such an issue does not exist, but it actually damages teh importance of the word "Phobia" when it can be attached to ANYTHING! Great Example... I am Agnostic... I believe in god but follow no mainstream Religion - I could accuse Christians of being "Paganphobic" - It is a totally made up word using Modern Analogies and descriptions... And harms the "Phobia" part of the word. I do believe we should stop abusing the Phobia Suffix! Put Simply - You criticism is SPOT ON!
@@Phoenix2312 just a small correction, but those words are Greek, not Latin. Phobos was the Greek personification of fear, his Roman equivalent was Timor

(Like those around her were doing for her) The reason why is it can cause them great distress and even cause them to be hostile and even attack others.

Henry isn't the one who is chasing girls just to bang them. Ulla outright says "this way I can imagine I did it and can get through another weekend". Henry only goes along with it so Ulla will leave him alone on the topic of romance and sex. Henry's real problem is he's afraid of being left and cheated on so he doesn't let himself make a long term commitment to protect himself from heartbreak. Henry is trying to get to know Lucy slow and steady LIKE YOU SHOULD but her braindamge gets in the way. So he tries to come up with ways to see her and get to know her. I always used to love this movie when I saw it on TV. Even nowadays my dad mentioned (way too often) when someone forgets something that they are like '10 second Tom'.
I remember the first time I ever heard about this movie was an old rant by a famous vlogger, who said that he didn't think the ending made any sense... I guess not realizing that this is a real condition and that is the real treatment. Maybe he meant that it didn't make sense to frame it as a happy ending, which is _arguably_ more reasonable, but still something I would consider problematic. Also, there was a Mental Floss video that at one point addressed the tendency of Hollywood movies to exclusively depict retrograde amnesia and not acknowledge anterograde amnesia... and they cited this movie as one of several examples. Clearly whoever wrote that video just Googled "movies about amnesia" and didn't check to make sure that all of them were appropriate examples.

Channel Idea: EWW CS is definitely gold but requires effort on their part. I think, if you're interested in comic stories, your narration and commentary on events unfolding would draw plenty of views. Current first place, imo, comic channel would be Comics Explained, but having a different opinion/input on the stories would have appeal. As well, that channel bounces around with stories often, if you were to follow the same route and power through each story before covering the next it'd add a different 'style' in how you release content. Just an idea, I'd listen in.
Thank you so much for covering the bullshit and being so fast. This movie is my favourite and I have special connection to it. When I saw that CinemaSins made a video about it I felt disgusted. Watching your video made me in tears from relief and gratitude. This movie might not be the greatest but it is the most heartwarming for me. Keep the great work on!
As someone who’s worked at a grocery store, the point about keeping pineapple and produce cold is accurate. You want to keep produce cold for as long as possible especially when it’s in the back of the store and/or a cooler. It helps keep the produce fresh and ready for customers to eat until it’s brought out onto the produce floor for customers to buy and consume.
Recent subscriber, love your content. I still watch Cinema Sins but find myself watching their videos more objectively and disagreeing with certain points. Really just commenting to say I love the Devil May Cry reference you dropped, if I had less or more chromosomes than normal I'd say "tell me you're cool without telling me you're cool".
I have a child that grows and learns. Also plants and a dog with fur that grows fast enough to notice. Continuity of things I do and see the results of later. There are lots of ways I can tell I’m not living the same day every day, but children are pretty fool proof. Can’t wake up and find a ten year old when I’m expecting a toddler.
This one is a classic here on Brasil, it played on TV at least once every one or two months (here the name can be translated to "like it's the first time")
You know what, I used to love CinemaSins when I was younger, believing every opinion he had, but one day I just stopped. I forgot at the time, but now it makes sense to me. When I was a kid and noticed how the title said, "in blank minutes or less" and saw how it didn't match with the time, I asked in the comments, "Why doesn't the time in the title match with the actual time?" I got flooded with hate. That's when I realized the fanbase was extremely toxic. The sins, the fanbase, and the dude. You've opened my eyes to this fact, pointing out all I hadn't noticed back then. All I can say now is thank you, and good job.
"There have been times I woke up from some incredible sleep and didn't know what *century* I was in." First, same. But also, Crowley? Is that you? Love the new voice.

Weirdly enough, I kind of grew up with this movie, and I haven't properly seen it in years, but watching this makes me want to revisit it. It's such a sweet concept, the idea of making a woman fall in love with you every single day, and her experiencing that for the first time, every time. And then, the heartbreak of having to deal with such a condition for everyone involved. I've long since given up on cinemasins. Thank you for calling them out on their crap, and for actually following the movie and researching it, and for saying things that are actually insightful or funny, as opposed to just going, "A movie trope. *DING*" "I don't like this part. *DING*" "I don't understand this. *DING*" "Hey look, a reference. *DING*" "Here's a corny joke that has nothing to do with the movie. *DING*" They became profoundly irritating to watch after a while.
If I die before Jeremy does, I would like to become a ghost and follow him around for like a year, doing all the shit to him he does to movies. He's walking around his house, I criticize how many lamps he has, or that his coffee maker is too close to the toaster. He starts having a conversation, I randomly pop out and go "SKIP!" or I interrupt what he's saying with an irrelevant reference to some random movie. Some days I'd just point out stuff around him and make dinging sounds.
Henry is shown to lie to one of the woman he dates, that's the problem, I haven't seen the original Cinema Sins video, but if Jeremy didn't bring that up as the problem, then he sucks at making his point
Regarding nicknames, my friend is ER doctor, and my best-friend fiancee is nurse. They definetely give nicknames to ordinary or obnoxious patients. Have you ever worked Jeremy, like I mean in real enviroment?
I've been to Hawaii twice and I can only remember two cool days. Both were on a boat in the middle of the Pacific. During my first trip in 2004 with my mom's side of the family, my dad took me deep sea fishing and I caught a 44-inch Wahoo. We made fun of him for years after that trip because he spent 6 years in the Navy and got seasick. Granted, he spent those 6 years on an aircraft carrier, but I thought he would've spent some time on a smaller boat. I also proved a Hawaiian myth wrong! According to the captain, eating fruit on a boat was considered bad luck because the fruit would rot. I had a banana and caught the only fish. On our second trip as a high school graduation present, my grandparents took us again. We went snorkeling. Other than those two days, it was sweltering.

Never expected this kind of movie to be covered on this channel, but I am here for it!
Agreed :D
Nice surprise! Birdman's on a roll! 👍🏾♥️
Me too! I love the film!
"Nothing beats a first viewing"
The reason everything is suffixed with phobia is because homophopia came first and it originally meant "fear of being assumed to be gay" before eventually becoming "against gay people" thus transphobia, biphobia, fatphobia was born
actually, I think the term xenophobia came before homophobia. Idk, maybe I'm wrong
@@radicalpasta7040 Xenophobia is probably first. I'm lazy and don't feel like looking up the etymology, so I'm declaring you right for now lol
@@Phoenix2312 just a small correction, but those words are Greek, not Latin. Phobos was the Greek personification of fear, his Roman equivalent was Timor
If Jeremy put this much effort as you are countering his Sins, I'll watch them again
I have talk to Jeremy on Twitter, and he's a very nice guy. Although I would love the see sins Video on The Godfather that was made but shown on youtube yet, and for Birdman to do his video on that. LOL! Stay safe Myles.
@@htruman you too pal and atleast he's a nice guy I just hope Jeremy spices things up a bit with Cinemasins
I saw this coming, when you called Drew Barrymore the Goddess herself in the Scream video.
The goddess don't look so good anymore
@@jd3thegreat You take that back. Drew can have me at any age.
@@Th3Birdman listen she can still have me too but goddess is a stretch and a half now 😂

Guilty pleasure? I thought this was just a legit good movie.
It is legit good movie!
Definitely one of the better Adam Sandler movies
Logo sins just make no sense. Unless it’s Uncharted, like I felt relieved as soon as the ‘Columbia Pictures presents’ card came up because that film had so many logos.
I’m not a big Adam Sandler fan but this is one of the ones I really liked! And I’m a CMA (certified medication aid which means I have my CNA and medication aid certification.) and in all of our training in dealing with Dementia and other mental health issues (like hers) we are explicitly told not to challenge their reality but to join them in it. (Like those around her were doing for her) The reason why is it can cause them great distress and even cause them to be hostile and even attack others.
The one thing I hate more than the misuse of gaslighting is everyone not taking it seriously because of that misuse.
I don't even watch cinema sins anymore, but these are awesome. Always nice to see someone vehemently stick up for a quality Adam Sandler movie. There's way more of those than people give credit for. Great vid man 👍🏻 Also...drew Barrymore 🤤🤤🤤
Same.
@@thelaughingrouge yea drew barrymore is sexy and shes one of the few actresses that is willing to do crude humor that is funny, you should watch her spoof for scream on her channel its very funny
It’s always a good day whenever Th3birdman decided he’s gonna pick on Jeremy again and preparing himself for all the BS he’s gonna get from cinemasins fan boys lol 😂
I appreciate this one more than others because it addresses a disability and CS's poor treatment of it.
My favorite Adam Sandler movie, and you’re covering it?! Awesome!
I don't know if you seen Reign Over Me but it's a recommended movie .
"I get to take my thong off later." That'd probably be good ice breaker joke to. Respect the game.
I love this movie. It is definitely a guilty pleasure for me as well. Most of Sandler's movies haven't aged well, but this one definitely has.
I watched the Wedding Singer the other day and think it holds up too, especially since it takes place in the 80s.
@@amostlyreasonableguy I actually forgot about that one. I remember really enjoying it. I tried to watch Big Daddy a few years ago and almost cringed myself to death.
The cover of "Forgetful Lucy" at the beginnin' gave me goosebumps. Thanks for introducing us to it. 😁👍🏿
man your intros are something else, they're always so great
Henry isn't the one who is chasing girls just to bang them.
He even points out how sucky it is to keep lying to her by both him and her family so he helps by being honest and upfront with her.
So suck that cinemasinns
That thong joke killed me.
Also I was born in Hawaii, that shit was indeed sweltering.
Did we really need someone from Hawaii to say that its hot in Hawaii?
Ive slowly been disliking CinemaSins more and more since I found your channel a couple of years ago. But my god the lengths they went to, to insult this masterpiece of a movie is pathetic and Im so glad you defended it with such vigor.
I absolutely love "Your head is for decoration"
I liked Click personally. Did not go into that movie expecting to feel depressed as fuck
Right?!
Click man... I love that movie. It makes me feel things.
@@Th3Birdman Trailer: "Another nice, Adam Sandler comedy. Like slow motion boob bouncing and farting in his boss's mouth."
Movie: "The soul crushing despair as you realize you've alienated everyone you love, missed your children growing up, and never even attended your father's funeral."
Same I don’t care what anyone says I liked that movie
“Is it oochie wally or is it one mic” 😭😭😭😭😭
BM is officially the GOAT,
Birdman writing the line for that ONE Drew Barrymore scene in his head:
"Drew Barrymore needs to do what she did with the wheel to me"
I agree with the whole "phobia" thing. They don't even use it accurately. A "Phobia" is an irrational fear, not hatred or intolerance.
Phobia can be defined as: ‘An extreme or irrational fear of or *aversion to something*.’ So yes, a hatred or intolerance can be defined as a phobia.
If only homophobia works like that
If only someone feared me for being gay I could threaten them with videos and flirting
@@Th3Birdman To quote Morgan Freeman: "You don't have a phobia. You're just an asshole."
And yeah, in science, a "Theory" is just below a "Law". Hunch -> Guess -> Hypothesis -> Theory -> Law iirc
@@Th3Birdman I’m just pointing out here that people aren’t necessarily wrong if they do use it as a suffix to mean a hatred or aversion to something, as language also changes all the time and is constantly evolving. Plus, one could argue that hatred is born of fear, which is born of ignorance. I hate spiders. I hate spiders because I am afraid of them. If you hate someone for bigoted reasons, I would argue that comes from an innate fear of people who are different.
@@samuelbarber6177 Oh forgive me, I must have come across as if I'm speaking AT you instead of TO you. I am not debating, just clarifying something. And yes, your point is well taken, that words evolve over time. I just think certain words should have concrete definitions and extrapolations, otherwise everything is subject to change, and that makes things meaningless in the long run. I was an English major so this is a particular pet peeve I have.
"I swear your head is for decoration" I am unabashedly going to steal that line... Thank you Th3 Birdman
That Devil May Cry reference cemented why you are my favorite TH-cam content creator!
You expected a man from TN to know things about boats and Alaska! 😂
You continue to so thoroughly dismantle CS so well that I haven't been able to watch them even as a joke for years.
I was fully expecting you to sin them for the movie saying a College GF joke and them sinning it in the context that they did at 7:56 because the reason they sinned him is the basis of a lot of there own college GF "Jokes"
I started tearing up remembering the movie when I saw the thumbnail so when you gave the Initial 50 sins I scream "YESS!!" Hella loud and scared my cat
I am in tears too! ❤
“Cause when I get those laughs, I get to take off my thong later” that caught me off guard and had me dying bro 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Those last images in the tally recap are so wholesome! Glad to see you got a much needed adventure, man :)
You were so right about the Adam crying scene 🤣🤣🤣. I love this movie😂💜
16:25 is my favorite line of the movie, and the audio of Jeremy's line and your line after made it so much better.
"...Your Head is for Decoration..." Absolutely the Best Insult I have heard in an age! Pure Genius, Th3Birdman.
Wasn’t expecting this but still, always down for a new video
50 First Dates and Wedding Singer are easily my favorite Adam Sandler movies
The fact I’m clicking these videos without having seen the original film is genuinely surprising and a testament to how entertaining these are 💜
I knew the thong joke was gonna be about you wearing it, but it still caught me lol
That Blueprint 2 bar went over so many heads I bet 💯
“Listen god u a flee, and your little homie jungle is a garden to me” ppl really sleep on that song

The good part of watching Everything Wrong With CinemaSins videos... The Birdman
The bad part of watching Everything Wrong With CinemaSins videos... I still have to listen to Jeremy and it's painful.
Lol I love the Vsauce Reference. Lowkey Genius.
Nerds unite.
The fact this is a guilty pleasure film for you as this is one of my guilty pleasure movies (one of my top 5 Adam Sandler movies) you are colloquially radical my good man.
Big Adam Sandler fan, Happy you are covering one of my favorites from Him.
This channel is a gem
Sinning this film. For whatever the reason. DING
I understood that reference.
I’ve been watching your Channel for a while but I just want to say thank you for your videos. They help me get through a rough patch when I need it.
"Is it Oochie Wally or is it One Mic?"
C'mon, you know Jeremy isn't gonna get that reference 😂
“50 First Dates” is an awesome movie! I’m OK with that too. Mahalo!
7:24 "your head is for decoration" I was laughing for a full five minutes from this line, I needed to pause the vid. Love the videos
No cinema sins in weeks and now 2 in 1 week! Patreon here I come!
Damn tried to post my receipt as proof but it won’t let me!
Not gonna lie, i love me an old school adam Sandler movie, happy gilmore will always be at the top
"I eat piece of s*** like you for breakfast!"
I have a soft spot for 50 First Dates and Happy Gilmore. When I was a kid my brother loved them and we would watch them a lot.
This one is a classic here on Brasil, it played on TV at least once every one or two months (here the name can be translated to "like it's the first time")
Your sense of music it S tier my guy. I hear that beirut
As always a great video, but I especially like the closing. It has the same “feel good” quality of 50 First Dates.
I wholeheartedly agreed with you. This movie is a very fun watch.
"There have been times I woke up from some incredible sleep and didn't know what *century* I was in."
First, same. But also, Crowley? Is that you? Love the new voice.
This movie actually is surprisingly funny and this video as well was also very wild. You're the best Bman to make my evening complete! Keep up the good work and hope you enjoyed your Hawaii vacation!
The ending was great btw. Loved seeing pics of you enjoying your time XD
"your head is for decoration" emotional damage
50 First Dates was adorable and I think it still holds up really well. (And it's based on a real-life love story).
That vsause music and style hit just right.
Forget the fact that Lucy is clearly a local, something a playboy trying to go out into the world wouldn't 'target'.
That would be worth dying
Birdman tries to make the audience jealous of his Hawaiian vacation = 40 sins :)P
5:13 - I love the Sweet tea education to the guy from Tennessee, lol
“Is it black girl lost, Or shorty owe you for ice?” Nice Blueprint 2 reference
Henry is shown to lie to one of the woman he dates, that's the problem, I haven't seen the original Cinema Sins video, but if Jeremy didn't bring that up as the problem, then he sucks at making his point
Bruh I never thought I saw the day that someone say "You'll understand when you're older" 😂
Regarding nicknames, my friend is ER doctor, and my best-friend fiancee is nurse. They definetely give nicknames to ordinary or obnoxious patients. Hell I was in prison guard and we gave the nicknames to the inmates to easier distinguish them because its harder to remember names or numbers. Have you ever worked Jeremy, like I mean in real enviroment?
4:31 exactly. It's almost like he's making movies he himself would like to watch
After finding your channel I can't even watch CinemaSins anymore. Keep up the good work!
That was friggin awesome
As always
Yay, another Everything wrong with CinemaSins video. Love those.
I agree so much with the phobia bs. Phobia literally means fear yet they try to make it mean hatred of something so fucking dumb
