    This is unnecessary processing... You're literally just duplicating it and splitting it up into its bands, there's no point. It's like duplicating a mono track and panning it lol

      @dantepatel ปีที่แล้ว +9

      He's trying to make the bass of the kick louder and get rid of any highs that might've leaked from the song. But yeah, using a shelf and a cut on one EQ might be better, idk.

      Kicks are made of the punch transient, middle, and end piece he’s doing that so you can mix the individual frequencies if you need to eq stuff in or out based on the sample. May be too many instruments in the highs so you mix just that frequency

    • @gej300v
      @gej300v ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The point is that you want to edit the high end so it decays very quickly, much quicker than the lower bands, which need to decay for longer. The high end of the kick is quite fast and transient where as the low end is where we hear the boomy decay. This method is making it seem that the hi-hat that was once layered with the kick is no longer there because the high decays so quickly that we don’t here the longer decay of the hi hat that was there.

      This worked wonders for me. I got a really clean kick! Some tracks have atmos, basses, hi hats etc on top, this just gives more control to cut those elements out

  • @DubzCo

    This’s how producers get
    ‘stuck’ in the process because they’ll do crazy stuff like this instead of looking for or creating a kick that works with the track and they’ll spend hours nit picking frequencies that they think are imperfect and guess what they are imperfect because you took it from another track which probably wasn’t even in the same key if close so look into to kick synths snd save yourself a headache and create your own

      when i first started produce/engineer (before youtube was a thing), i spent weeks trying to be creative with outside the box thinking for my productions, then spend months perfecting everything. It was the most fun i've had in my journey on the creative side. but objectively even with the amount of time put in none of those can compare with productions and mixes i could do today which no longer take weeks trying to be "creative" just what works and the fastest route to end result. but i notice i was way more creative when i had no cautionary limitations just chasing an unheard of sound. some till this day i still cant reimagine ....

      Depending on the track you may want a slightly different eq or pitch and since it’s probably sampled from a mastered track you’d need some gain reduction/compression to blend with your premastered mix.

  • @federicosandalo9261
    @federicosandalo9261 ปีที่แล้ว +19

    You can just cut the sample out of the track in this case, you don’t need do separate it in different frequencies and the stick them toghether again. It’s just a useless process. The kick in this part of the track plays alone and you can pick it as it is bye

    • @NOVRE
      @NOVRE ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No it does not, there is background elements playing and some hats. This way you're removing the parts you don't want in the kick, although this process isn't always foolproof
