A strange and dangerous area indeed.
Remember the sixties? "We won the battle but we lost the war" as spoken by one of the few remaining black residents. This pretty much sums it up.

You can live cheaply in Cairo, but who would want to.

Zillow only showed a few livable looking ones priced 25-45K. Only other priced ones I've seen are in old vids. One for under 1k, the other about 8K. The really lowball ones are surely major fixer-uppers.
Why is there a fair amount of car traffic ?
The traffic is medium at best. Very little traffic at the deserted areas.
