This era of Whitney was representative of someone who was older, wiser and had been through hard times - everything about it says growth and rebirth and resilience.

I'll never forget the weekend Whitney Houston died. It was my junior year of college in Fairfax, VA. On Friday, Feb. 10th, 2012, I took the Greyhound bus to Richmond, VA to visit a bunch of my friends from high school who went to a party school, VCU. My sis came down from Philly. Our other friends from Maryland and Boston. It was a big reunion. I don't quite remember what we did that Friday night or on Sunday, but I remember that Saturday night like it was yesterday. We all got ready to go out clubbing. As we were driving into town, we heard an announcement on the radio that Whitney Houston died. I was close to tears and everyone was speechless. Once we got to the club, as soon as we all walked in, we heard the DJ playing her music. We decided to stay and celebrate her life. The whole night was a tribute to her. I remember my friends and I dancing to, "I wanna dance with somebody" and having the best time! It was such a memorable night, because I wasn't alone in the dorms when I found out that my favorite singer after MJ had just died. I was surrounded by all my childhood friends as we honored her legacy. May you rest in peace, Whitney. I'm now in my 30s and I still rock out to your music regularly. I even tear up everytime I hear you sing the national anthem at the Super Bowl in 1991, the year I was born. Your voice is still unmatched. You are an icon for the history books and our hearts. 🕊️

This is her most powerful song, she really felt free from all the pain. She looked amazing and ready to move on. Sad she couldn’t hold onto this feeling. I miss her music and her a lot. Always wonder whether she would still perform or not if she was alive. 😢

One of my all time favorite vocalist. This song is a mantra for the woman that is done wasting her energy on relationships, that emotionally, mentally, physically and in some instances financially drain you. You are your greatest investment and when you realize, just how precious your energy is, you no longer waste it on those who do not appreciate it. One you learn self love there is no going back, would rather be alone and happy, than unhappy with someone. RIP Whitney I know you are still singing in the ancestral realm.
If they released this song today, it would still be a massive hit. What a fantastic vocal. This is why great singers are loved so much because when they get a decent song to sing they can make the emotion and the meaning of the song come out.
But unfortunately I feel like it wouldn't be as popular as it was at the time because the prefernece for many genres of music have shifted and will continue to do so each and every generation. I don't think most tik tok kids will be listening to songs like this and plus r and b has isn't as popular now anymore. Things change and I don't like change.

Let's See How Many People Love Listening To This Beautiful And Awesome And Timeless And Famous And Underappreciated Whitney Houston Song In 5th August 2024.
August 26th, 2024. God all of our pop "singers" in the present day disgrace her name every time they start auto-tuning into a mic. Whitney was a PERFORMER, she knew how to entertain! Her voice carries on her legacy through the years. Okay gonna stop before this turns into a Hallmark card LOL
@consistency 14 She miss whitney as a singer. Are you really that stupid who really dont understand anything??? Seems like you failed onn everything in your life
@consistency 14 You know your whole life is a failure and a joke when you need an explanation for just something like this. When she said she miss whitney we already know what she felt and she mean. How old are you? 8 or 5 years old?
@consistency 14 We didn't know Whitney personally besides that she was an excellent singer and that's what people are missing. And you don't really wish people dead, even to strangers, soooooo give people a break!
Mannn I miss this wonderful lady so much ! Many memory's of your songs that reminds me of places and things That has happened in my life ! Thank you and God bless you and your family and friends xx
How beautiful she was. She could wear anything, because her regal beauty and poise did the rest of the work. She exuded class, elegance and STYLE. What a magnificent vocalist she was.
I agree like especially what she wearing in this video because on another body or face it could err on the side of being trashy but she bosses this outfit and makes it look classy and sexy without being trashy. She always looked flawlessly beautiful. A true angel on earth
Whitney Houston. The Voice. The Talent. The Generous Spirit. She was a good person. She was nothing but happy for others and their success. When Celine Dion won the 1997 Grammy Award for Album of the Year, she sent Celine flowers and a note. Celine's late husband said so in an interview in French. And she loved everyone's talent. And she more than deserved the Grammy Award for this performance.
The second i heard her voice on this playlist I cried...going thru it right now, and she understands soooo deeeeep. "I'm going to make it anyway" "I''D RATHER BE ALONE THAN UNHAPPY!" God blessed us with HER
As a child I was mesmerised by each woman's beauty in this video. I hope they've all lived amazing and blessed lives. Thanks Whitney, I'll smile for years to come. (If you're in this video say hi we all wanna know you!)
She was literally talking to you, and this wasn't her full range she could really get down in your soul. So sad she is absent from the body but glad she is present with the LORD
@@nemospence2724 no problem simply stating facts. People calling drug addicts and alcoholics and degenerate people kings and queens. Kings and queens have their shit together. Male Covers agreed I love the booming big belt at 2:31.. it's all reminiscent of Prime Whitney during bodyguard era. She was always capable of singing show stopping power ballad notes in pretty much any genre of records she sang making it seem easy. Easily transitioning and swooshing between power belts and into the most angelic of notes at the height of her prime.
A superstar gone too soon! Whitney lived fast, but she had many good times! Whitney loved the parties and stimulants , and left us too soon! A world class vocal star gone to paradise/ RIP
She was a triple threat: She had the voice of an angel, was traffic stoppingly gorgeous and could act. As with Michael Jackson and Prince? Another talent lost way before her time. I hope you have found peace, Whitney. God bless and thank you for the memories. 💜💙💚💛❤
@@kevindube7096 So, you're saying just because you're in a movie doesn't mean you can act or being a celebrity musically doesn't automatically transfer to the big screen...🤔🤔😂😂😂😂
She actually had got off drugs, I feel that she was setup and her daughter. If Whitney was that depressed, she should have sought out some help, I believe she was about to do a show, who does that? I mean commit suicide when she was about to possibly come up again! I still know she was a marvelous entertainer during her time on earth. God bless you Whitney! RIP🪦
Yes she was...... That's why I be laughing my azz off watching this video. She hit a home run with this m'fr...... Oh how I wish I had met her and got to laugh and joke with her. And act silly. Just act a damn fool having fun!😂😂😂😂😂
It's ridiculous how people can 'round someone up' to their habits (no matter how good or bad). The fact that Whitney had an addiction to drugs doesn't take ANYTHING away from her amazing talent. Come on, folks, let's not be hypocrites! In these crazy days, nearly everyone has their own addiction, be it drugs, alcohol, work, love, church or even the Internet! I bet we could NEVER find a single person to throw the first rock... Let's rejoice and delight in her talent, and not get lost in judgemental blabber...
I salute you for your decent comment about Whitney. People like to judge others and not looking at their own faults. It is good to appreciate beautiful talents because they are rare. I agree with you entirely.
As much as I agree with you, and not being judgmental at all, I believe it's valid to point out that the drug addiction did affect her voice greatly in her late days, so that it may actually have taken something from her talent. Still, I bow to her.
I was about 10 when Saving All My Love dropped. Had no idea what I was singing about lmao. I didn’t know the man she was singing about was married lol.
@@tolnaimarton4100 Shows how much I pay attention to the entertainment world now days.. I had no idea there was even such a thing. Do you know who lead the project? @@serenag8955happy birthday to the Queen Whitney Houston 8/9/1963
Underappreciated? Whitney was literally praised and given awards throughout her career. She wasn't called "the voice" if she was unappreciated.
This production is still so good in 2022. The bass is so on point. Whitney so beautiful...her moves, clothes, her voice. Love this. Rip sweet Whitney
The way she sings both lead and chorus is absolutely purely amazing.
I believe Kelly Price is also singing background vocals
@Juan Gomez you're right my brother Ms. Houston was hell of talent .
*Whitney has the most beautiful voice on this planet.*
The emotions on her face 10/10 🙏🏼
I love seeing her giggle between takes. Her smile is infectious and beautiful.
her music video's are genuinely the greatest to watch because of that. Very wholesome and radiating joy.
Yes i agree....luv her smile @4:18, she was beautiful, can't help but luv her ❤️ such a talent, a real Queen 👑
That's the Whitney I will remember and cherish forever ❤️👑💯
Right
LMAO, indeed twin. Her smile could immediately brighten ANYONE'S day. No lies told.
One of the greatest voice that God ever blew breath into. Singing with the angels. Rip Whitney 😭
Amen. Speak that truth
Fr there will never be anyone like her
Couldn't have state it better. She was Angelic
Sorry, but you should right correctly: "One of the greatest voices...."
@@wingsflying43 it's the statement that's counts but thank you for the correction
Still missing you, Whit... The best voice ever...!!!!
🔝🎩🔝🎩🔝🎩🔝
@consistency 14 she said missing whitney, please understand before nonsense mad
@consistency 14 She miss whitney as a singer. Are you really that stupid who really dont understand anything??? Seems like you failed onn everything in your life
@consistency 14 You know your whole life is a failure and a joke when you need an explanation for just something like this. When she said she miss whitney we already know what she felt and she mean. How old are you? 8 or 5 years old?
@consistency 14
We didn't know Whitney personally besides that she was an excellent singer and that's what people are missing. And you don't really wish people dead, even to strangers, soooooo give people a break!
This is a banger rest easy Queen
"I'd rather be alone than unhappy."
"I'm gonna make it anyway."
That's life. Thank you, Whitney.
Mannn I miss this wonderful lady so much ! Many memory's of your songs that reminds me of places and things That has happened in my life ! Thank you and God bless you and your family and friends xx
James Taylor Thank's (To France)✨
My mfkn DAWG!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍❤🆗️
💯💯💯
Some ppl might miss this 💯
How beautiful she was. She could wear anything, because her regal beauty and poise did the rest of the work. She exuded class, elegance and STYLE. What a magnificent vocalist she was.
Undefeated92 amen
A flippin MEN
What I like from her is she always enjoys what she sings, it's like she becomes one with the music. That what makes her beautiful outside and inside.
And then she discovered crack. What a waste
I agree like especially what she wearing in this video because on another body or face it could err on the side of being trashy but she bosses this outfit and makes it look classy and sexy without being trashy. She always looked flawlessly beautiful. A true angel on earth
When she sings "I'm gonna be alright, I'm gonna be okay" it warms me cause I hope she's good. ❤️
+smilla eriksson This is such a cute comment.
+smilla eriksson Blessings!!
+smilla eriksson That just made me cum
+smilla eriksson RIGHT...good part.....But doesn't MOST of her music warm your soul?

Whitney ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD THE assignment before it came out ...REST EASY QUEEN🙏🏽💗
Facts!
😂😂😂😂I love American English
Definitely understood the assignment & extra credit😂
Hello Tashuan
Real talk Ladies 😅
One best music video of the world. Whitney Houston's voice is magnificent.
She truly was the absolute best!
Exactly.
"I'm going to make it anyway" "I''D RATHER BE ALONE THAN UNHAPPY!" God blessed us with HER
Me 2 felt them lyrics especially ♥
You’re not alone. Stay strong!! You’re worth Your wants and needs, don’t let some ballsac take that from you!!! ❤
As a child I was mesmerised by each woman's beauty in this video. I hope they've all lived amazing and blessed lives. Thanks Whitney, I'll smile for years to come. (If you're in this video say hi we all wanna know you!)
Whitney is Stunningly beautiful...With or without makeup...just flawless beauty.
Those notes she teased us with from 3:49 to 3:52 yesssss slayyy!!!r.i.p whitney the greatest ever!
LSD 215 Yesss that's my part !!!!!
my favourite is at 01:09-01:14
She was so pretty and she didn't even know it , miss you Whitney xx
Oh Mrs. whitney knew she was the shit!! Trust me on that... She was a very confident women, even at her lowest, she was confident!
+Strokes of Art Yes couldn't have said it better.
she is and always be a top female vocalist!
Garysguitar omg I'm in love with her teeth. it's so perfect. lawrd. I wish I had her teeth 😍😍😍
Amina jay Right!!!! I've always loved her teeth!!!!
She was literally talking to you, and this wasn't her full range she could really get down in your soul. So sad she is absent from the body but glad she is present with the LORD
I love how she went from disappointment and angry at the beginning, to happy and cheerful at the end.
She moved on.😂
"I'm gonna be okay, I'm gonna be alright"
I like it how she's like "This basic ass cheater, can't even cheat well."
This beat was ahead of its time. Truely timeless
Shout-out to Dark child!!! He worked with Brandy, Whitney, Destiny's Child, Monica and many more

The TRUE definition of WOMEN EMPOWERMENT ❤ rest easy Queen Whitney
She was a crackhead 😂😂
@@ryanlowe509 what's your problem?
@@nemospence2724 no problem simply stating facts. People calling drug addicts and alcoholics and degenerate people kings and queens. Kings and queens have their shit together. Amazing artist and best voice ever in my opinion but doesn’t changed what she became. Fallen down and stumblin on stage from being fucked up all the time
@@ryanlowe509 just read through the lyrics. The song empowers women to stand up against cheating husband or boyfriend. Is that hard to understand?
@@nemospence2724 um no but she was a crackhead and smoked PCP. Not queen material. Didn’t say anything about the song. Waitin on that song that empowers men against cheating wives etc. hell they’ll probably call the song it’s your fault(man) 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
No female artist in 2025 can hold a candle to prime Whitney Houston.
Love her look in this. Over 20 years later and it's still as current as ever.
She was just TOO damn talented. Rest in roses Whitney! I’ll never stop listening to your music.
100 agreed
Whitney's styling in this video was well ahead of its time. The hair, makeup and dress still look current today
that was she wore for most of the My Love is your love era
90s R&b was sexy
Well, the outfits & styling by Dolce & Gabbana :-)
So true
Withney still the best of the best singer she always be miss ❤ 🌹❤
2024 anyone?????
Yesssss
I am here !
Its ok

Yep
Still a banger over 20 years later. Empowerment all around!
25 years, 1998.
Wow time flies 😳
True
@@moshemizrahi1133yeah thats what "over" means
2:33 love that register transition
Male Covers yea..its really beautiful
Male Covers agreed I love the booming big belt at 2:31.. it's all reminiscent of Prime Whitney during bodyguard era. She was always capable of singing show stopping power ballad notes in pretty much any genre of records she sang making it seem easy. Easily transitioning and swooshing between power belts and into the most angelic of notes at the height of her prime.
no doubt..shes was more than capable..love her loads
She is maybe dead but her music will last forever.
+ladymay30 Maybe? No, honey, she's definitely in the ground.
+Sarah K. Renzetti Because that was absolutely necessary. The wording was off but the point was obvious.
+Sarah K. Renzetti MAY ... BE! he forgot the space so what?
+Weed Weed Well then the "is" throws everyone off.
Thundepuss remix.
First time hearing. Loving this edgy side of Whitney. Gone too soon. RIP 😢
The fact she was out of the game for a period and then came out with this banger and it topped the charts!!!
She never really was out the game, she was doing back to back movie soundtracks
Whitney smiling while hitting high notes after her prime is priceless!
She ALWAYS smiled on her high notes.. That's what made her special
I love her facial expressions
Yasssssssssss epic and cute
Crack is wack!
I could look at that smile all day.
Yessss

what a voice and beauty, i remember her.
She was so fragile yet strong, so elegant yet crazy.
true
You just described half the human population.
Well I guess that's why so many of us could relate to her.
Just wow! Her vocals are amazing!
Best female vocalist EVER!! No one will ever be able to top that voice. Such a sad, tragic loss of a true talent.
EVER is the right answer! I loved her and I mean that with every part of my heart!❤️
A superstar gone too soon!
Whitney lived fast, but she had many good times! Whitney loved the parties and stimulants , and left us too soon! A world class vocal star gone to paradise/ RIP
Chile, that’s an insult to Aretha.
@@serpentine913serp6 aretha isnt all that….
This bop never not bop👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
She was a triple threat: She had the voice of an angel, was traffic stoppingly gorgeous and could act. As with Michael Jackson and Prince? Another talent lost way before her time. I hope you have found peace, Whitney. God bless and thank you for the memories. 💜💙💚💛❤
She was the best music Queen so sad that she went so early miss you Whitney and Bobby how you both found peace. RIP xxx😘
Amen
I don’t think this is what you’re implying, but I hope you’re not saying Prince could act
Amen
@@kevindube7096 So, you're saying just because you're in a movie doesn't mean you can act or being a celebrity musically doesn't automatically transfer to the big screen...🤔🤔😂😂😂😂
Get it girl, no words can express emotions and feelings in her songs! I hope she was happy, it brings brings to cry!
facts girl 💯❤
Welll, it is not difficult to find an answer, that she was totally NOT happy
She was on drugs, she obviously wasn't happy
She actually had got off drugs, I feel that she was setup and her daughter. If Whitney was that depressed, she should have sought out some help, I believe she was about to do a show, who does that? I mean commit suicide when she was about to possibly come up again! I still know she was a marvelous entertainer during her time on earth. God bless you Whitney! RIP🪦
She is absolutely amazing wish she didn't pass away most amazing voice of all time no one will ever compare to her
Whitney was ruthless & I loved it so much! You know she meant every word of this too lol. Damn I miss her
Yes she was...... That's why I be laughing my azz off watching this video. She hit a home run with this m'fr......
Oh how I wish I had met her and got to laugh and joke with her. And act silly. Just act a damn fool having fun!😂😂😂😂😂
I miss you Whitney 😢❤ " I will always love you" 😊
It sounds exactly like a song that would be a smash hit in 2020. Timeless work.
You are damn right... It's was a hit then and now and would be always
It sounds like something people would bring back
Still Is 2021
Now is 2021 all the way from baton rouge Louisiana still sounding good this song
Classic
It's ridiculous how people can 'round someone up' to their habits (no matter how good or bad). The fact that Whitney had an addiction to drugs doesn't take ANYTHING away from her amazing talent.
Come on, folks, let's not be hypocrites! In these crazy days, nearly everyone has their own addiction, be it drugs, alcohol, work, love, church or even the Internet! I bet we could NEVER find a single person to throw the first rock...
Let's rejoice and delight in her talent, and not get lost in judgemental blabber...
Amen to that!!! I don't care of Whitney had problems with drugs, I've loved her singing since I was a little girl!
Uput it right bro god bless u ...
YES
Whitney had it all, the voice, the talent, the looks, the attitude, the personality. There will never be another artist like her
You can say that again and again. #THELEGENDS
💯💯💯💯
yes ms girl! also you look stunning in your profile picture
