Don't mind the hate on your tools, your work is amazing. People build telecasters and much more complicated set-neck guitars at home everyday - with jigsaws, handplanes and sandpaper- any diy guitar facebook group proves that. Beautiful build, thanks for taking the time to share it!!
I cannot abide the falsness of relic-ed guitars BUT that being made from scratch with such skill is not only an old looking or vintage look tele but a very very nice looking work of art tele that I couldn't possibly afford. Work of art! Bravo.
minimum tools is a bit misleading. I saw a band saw, router table, drum sander, countless jigs for precision work. No doubt a fantastic job on the guitar, but this was done in a full wood working shop...I am jealous with I had the space and the tools.
If you sand down the front of your cutters so the front is flat with the cutting part, you can get a ton closer to the fretboard and not have so much fret overhang to file off. Great build.
You did an amazing job building this guitar, and I hope it plays as good as it looks. I am not a fan of "relic'-ing as I find it contrived and it smacks of fakery and deceit. However, when it is done this way, a s new-old finish, and obviously. not a '54 tele, I like it. Very creative way of laying. on the paint layers, and I REALLY liked how. you left the binding alone as a contrast.
Your video is a excellent one. Building a guitar is certainly missed judged by most who wish to build a custom instrument. It is no easy task and for most including myself. I have been in a scratch build no kit what so ever and sometimes my thoughts on trial and error occurred to many times.
No mate, you can't build this at home.. unless your home is a work working shop with all the tools. Plus one would need years of experience and also get the different templates. Great build, good old replica and yes, it would be nice to play it on stage.
Hey i know what you saying, in my case i do this professionally, this is also my job, which of course it helps and i have some spare tools at my home, old tools that i have left aside, even the templates are not the same to those i use now if im going to build a tele as Burretone Guitars. So this is just a homebuild for me. But I understand exactly what you're saying because I find myself in your shoes and im thrilled when I see some guys here on TH-cam who really don't have my background and still making amazing guitars at home and sometimes they say that this is their first attempt.
I do a few things differently. I cut my fret slots and dots and while the fretboard or neck blank(one piece neck) is is still square. I drill the tuner holes when I'm cutting the truss rod cavity while the neck blank is still square. I install 7 frets at a time then lightly clamp them down with the radius block, overlapping the ones that I installed first. This eliminates the need for fret leveling after installation. And you must try a shinto rasp for your profile carve. You'll love it. Very cool vid. I've thought about making one, but am always too busy. thanks for posting. It makes me want to get busy on some unfinished projects. I'm working on a Nashville tele with b bender. But I've been busy and it's been sitting unfinished for almost a year now.
Great work by the builder. Awesome! I love the look, but If it was mine I'd always know it's "fake". In my humble opinion part of the appeal in a relic guitar are the stories of how those dents and scratches happened or the whole gradual decay decay of the paint over the years and years of playing. To me a relic has to be earned.
Sort of ... I guess its like distressed denim jeans I am not feeling like a fake for wearing them and don't feel that anyone should be dragged behind a bus for 5k or maybe stand in front of a sanblaster for 30min to earn the worn in look . Relic stuff just has a worn in feel thats less of a worry and more casual its nothing to do with earning and more to do with enjoying - but each to their own. After restoring relic items like motorbikes it is a much safer option to make them look relic than be genuine relic between crooked frames, engine problems etc.... you never know what is going to fail and the abuse the item has had before it is in your hands.
really good workmanship, but I must say, I do not like bindings on electric guitars necks. I don't know why I just don't find it comfortable. Its also meant to hide the crimes in a hollow body were the back meets the sides, but this is not a hollow body. I still think it looks amazing
My goodness what a beautiful job. Goes to show you that you don't need a CNC or a fancy shmancy shop with high tech equipment to produce a truly awesome work of art. Top shelf sir. TOP SHELF.👍🇺🇸👍
the work is certainly excellent. and certainly a guitar with signs of time has its charm. but in this case it is a new guitar disguised as a used guitar. It would be like going out and buying jeans that are already tattered. I don't know if that makes so much sense.
Awesome guitar and great working process, can I ask you what kind of colours you used to replicate the sunburst effect? Type and colour codes if possible, thank you in advance
Thank you, the colours and all the finishing materials that i always use are waterborne, acrylic or polyurethane, the bronze and gold paints are Amsterdam acrylics, codes 805, 802, 803, if remember correctly.
How long have you been building? I just built my first telecaster (still waiting for a good weather day to shoot the nitro finish) and while I'm happy with my work I did a lot of patching/doweling and redrilling etc. The end result came out good but getting my measurements precise and clean didnt always work the first attempt. Any advice? I'm still lacking some of the tools that would make things easier like a drill press, electric planer, jointer, full size router lol so that's certainly a factor. Anyways excellent work, I love the video format. Great work! New sub.

Absolutely gorgeous. Never seen so much craftsmanship in my life
This is one of the best build videos I’ve seen, the relic job turned out unreal! Nice work man.
minimum tools is a bit misleading. I saw a band saw, router table, drum sander, countless jigs for precision work. No doubt a fantastic job on the guitar, but this was done in a full wood working shop...I am jealous with I had the space and the tools.
That's the most believable relic guitar i have ever seen dude. Nice work! So realistic!
Perhaps the best relic guitar I've seen. A great build, and amazing to watch.
Very unique way of relicing-masking instead of removing parts of complete coats
Literally the nicest guitar I've ever seen
Awesome... standing ovation. A work of art.
I was so confused when you sprayed it blue, but man I gotta say that's a beautiful, beautiful finish. Awesome build, thanks for sharing ! :)
The detail to the relic work is impressive man. Cheers from Mexico!
So many points were I was like “eehh” the. Seeing the end it’s such a beautiful instrument
A piece of art that makes art. Simply lovely.
I absolutely loved every bit of this.
Well done and I especially liked the cryptic nod to a Thinline pickguard. My personal favorite Tele.
I;m waiting for your new video. Thank you for sharing great manufactuning techniques. Have a nice day!
I am especially a fan of the 3 way switch. Nice touch.
Nice build right up to the relic job? Enjoyed the video , thx for sharing

Totally loved the whole whole video. Excellent eye for detail.
Thanks for a great video and also showing the relicing process!
amazing work
Great work. Compliments
Very inspiring. with minimum Tool and Machinery.. Great learning. Thank you so much
Excellent work and excellent outcome!Congratulations
Really nice work! liked the attention for details in the relic process.
awesome craftsmanship! The shade of blue is my favorite so this was definitely fun and inspiring to watch!
お見事です!丁寧な仕事は惚れ込みます!

Could you explain the "7 frets at a time" technique? You just install the frets and clamp with radius block??
Good job! Came out looking great! Love the blue against the relicing 👍🏼
Beautiful! i love the relic work on this and the bindings. Great job!
very well played sir. I thought I saw sand blasting at one point, but no it was just your hand at extreme speed.
Excellent job, thanks for sharing !!
The coolest guitar ever😎⚡️🌟
Fantastic !. Wonderful Skills !. World Class !. Greetings From Scotland.
Kudos on the pickguard. Great job, thanks.

So if you buy a road worn guitar you earn it? And what if it's not actually road worn, you just think it is?
gorgeous!!
Nice job, congratulations
Just amazing! Well done!
Awesome!
AMAZING!
I was able to make one of the too. My time was 13:40 just a hair under your time at 13:42, but not bad. Ha ha, great guitar and build.

Isn’t this considered relicing
Love that neck.

Great build. Very nice guitar.
one of the few videos that I needed to watch at 0.25x to understand what was going on!
Great job!
Well done: great job !
Wow..... Awesome ..... how does it sound ???
love it!
Beautiful 👍
Very nice!!!
you make that look easy.
Are those thumb tacks for the dot inlays? Cool idea!
With this vídeo... Automatically I subscribe you. Really good work.
Awesome! 👍🏻
When the paint has Heinz mayocue sauce in it, you know it’s gonna be a great finish.

How would I learn how to do this myself? Looks like so much fun.
Damn that looks fantastic man
What about that Wilkinson bridge? I was planning on buying one for a Tele build

Thank you, you can find in the market, check Ebay
So cool 😎 I’d gig with this all night
I would love to get one of these made for me... tele style medium relic... NICE VIBEZ. Where can i get an idea of your prices?
Two rules: if he doesn't advertise price, or if you have to ask, you can't afford! LOL
@@vuk8985 Hard to argue with that but i had to ask mate
Fantastic guitar!!!!
Did you use brass tacks as fret markers?
