Highfleet can be summed up in one statement: When life gives you lemons, commit war crimes.
The enemy nuking your country, on their way to nuke a town because you took over it : "It's free real estate!"
You using nukes to fight off their nuclear fleet coming your way : "War crimeee!"

I got hooked by this video when I saw that Speed Mk3 design XD
What can I say, I'm a smidge lazy. The current WR run uses the Van-Speed Mk6, and yes, there were failed runs for six versions... There will likely be a mk7 sometime in the future.

@@MalcrowAlogoran in the updated speedrun, the ship actually took a missile impact and survived thanks to the fuel tanks protection, saving the run. Fuel tanks have a LOT of HP. However sitting on them instead of armour is a no go

With some luck, I bet you can destroy the nuclear carriers in the end even faster. This time the got your fireflies couple of times, which slowed things down.
I already have a refined method that ditches the firefly for something totally different. At the time I didnt know how jammers could mess with FCR.

I will say, despite the fact it is a speedrun setting where all fights have basically been rigged to your favor, the nuclear war that breaks out in Highfleet will never not be terrifying, and the sirens sounding off do not help at all.

Ahh highfleet, the only game i know where nukes are both incredibly powerful AND easy to get a hold of.
Somehow, I find it hilarious that if you use nuclear armaments at any point in the game they send as many as they can in your direction (when they used them first place), and being staunch about not using any more than what was necessary at the time, however being the gentleman that you are when you re-take the reactor without using them yourself they end up throwing a fit by readying theirs due to the incompetence of a rag tag force being half-hazardly thrown together to repel the remains of the imperial army
Makes sense with how inpervious they are to AA

I’ve tried something similar to this and I always get spotted by carrier groups. Even when I try to ambush them they see my aircraft coming and sent their own to intercept. I don’t get it. How do you do it?

No, really, much like say Minecraft speedrunning, a chunk of highfleet speedrunning is just resetting until you don’t get unlucky like that. Iirc it takes like 20-30 dead runs to get to khiva, depending on a doctrines fuel setup getting out of ur, and then not every run that gets to khiva is good (but failure at khiva is much rarer)
A lot of those dead runs were instant thanks to bad map or something iirc however
How did you set your fleet command ship (one with the star) as a ship other than Sevastopol?
It’s in the game files. There are some good videos showing how to do it.
There is a video of a guy beating the game in like seven minutes with a vanilla playthrough no extra money and no HQ folder editing.
He never beat post khiva. My run is barely 3 minuites slower while carrying all the necessities by that metric, and is acknowledged by the person who made said run afaik. If you want me to go and beat that run within its parameters I'll do it. Also that run used an edited flagship too iirc.
At the time I was under the impression you could edit the sev and save it while it was still a flagship meaning custom flagships were possible, but I've recently been on a slow burn to make a run that monetarily works with the waste of funds Sevastopol would be.
Also additionally: that run was done using a beta glitch in 1.14 where fuel wasn't calculated properly
Double checked: he used the sev, I'm incorrect, other points still stand.
Update: I beat this time with a unedited flagship
In my opinion using edited HQ ship is some kind of cheat, because it can't be done with ingame instruments and must be done through editing game files.
Answered this in a different comment weeks ago. Wasn't aware it was a restriction, thought the Sev could be edited into anything. I was wrong.
@@clankplusm Nah you are not wrong, it's a single-player game. It is, by definition, impossible to cheat.
It's called a game mod and the whole point is to make it interesting.
@@lolroflroflcakes either way, it isn't vanilla, even if not by much, which is generally the requirement of speedruns. Currently I'm on a small break before I begin my next run attempt to both use the Sevastopol as flagship and beat this run, which I have reason to believe is possible.
*as a clarification, I originally thought editing the Sevastopol shipfile and saving it creates a custom flagship so by that logic any custom flagship could be made.
Update: New speedrun beating this time with vanilla flagship.

Nuclear Warcrime Any%
How is nuking a warcrime? You can't commit a warcrime if there is no one to report said warcrime though hiding a nuclear explosion is rather difficult
not everyone in said city dies, more nukes yield more kills. Also nukes are visible from thousands of km away in hf
