joan watt ... He DID mean more to me when I thought he was a faithful husband, though.... Too bad that fame, adoring attention, and the ability to fly away to anywhere to see yr girlfriends is a temptatjon too great for most ppl, though. Still love his voice but, it's dampered....
Here it is 9/1/15 and Jim has just had another birthday to pass. When I first heard him in the very early 50's I thought he was wonderful. Today I think he is just as perfect. My computer is so full of his music I listen to and I have so many of his cd's. early albums and duplicate albums that still have the cellophane on them. I treasure these and everything I can get of his that I don't already have. I listen each day to him and his voice moves me so much that I can't get by without crying most of the time. I have the book Larry wrote and most of the music he has done. He will always be the greatest voice that ever lived.
Precious Gentle Jim's melody is mesmerizing, heartstouching boosting and uplifting spirits when one is low. He is my first love bcoz as a teenager I wouldn't miss a day without hearing to Jim's hits. He is truly a legend. His memories remain everlasting.
ELVISHYA PINTO .. I do hope you idolize God just as much in yr spare time.. There is a lot of Jim's music about heartache that is negative & drags me down even when I listen only for the quality of His voice. Because of that, I can only listen so long.
Jim was a man with Troubled heart. James Kirkland told Mary Jim had a calling from God but did not respond. nonetheless we are left with a plethora of his music. I met him when I was 13 and immediately taken by his VOICE. Craig Morris Dudley massachusetts.

I'd love to have all his gospel/Christian albums. They aren't even posted on here any more & I can't find them elsewhere! If you know the link to his albums I'd so appreciate that! 11, 2019
What became of Jim's lady friend, Bea Terry? I know she was still around in 1976 as Mary and her were wrangling over the song "Am I Losing You?" Did she marry? as there is no information on her after that.
She had been living in California and planned to move with her sister back to Texas. In fact, they had loaded a trailer and intended to leave early the next morning. But overnight, the trailer and most of Bea's worldly possessions were STOLEN. Authorities never recovered them. Bea suspected Mary Reeves Davis had something to do with the heist because her music files (and proof she owned "Am I Losing You") were in that trailer. Bea became embittered toward the end of her life and even instructed that no obituary be run on her. So you won't find one in any newspaper, though her passing was noted in Billboard. There is a new Hank Snow book out and I am curious to know if she is mentioned. Because Bea helped Hank relocate from Canada and get his career launched in the U.S. She was still in Texas at that time and even boarded a horse for Mr. Snow. Bea had been married years earlier to a man not involved in the entertainment business.
@@midtod Just been told Bea died on January 13, 1997, aged 79 in McLennan, Texas. It appears that she was cremated at Bellwood Crematory in Temple, Texas. There is no further information regarding the disposition of her remains.
A very good book but why bring up stories about his private life it should be left alone he was so good to his Mother we all love Jim Reeves songs let his Private life alone its very unfair to the late Jim Reeves God Bless you Jim xx
If an author took the position that you advocate, to not delve into the details of a famous person's private life, history would be deprived of an enormous amount of knowledge that we now possess. All we'd be left with is the public image of these people, with no insight into what made them tick, what their struggles were, what their personalities were like, etc. I have heard from many ministers of various denominations and they say that my book does not diminish their appreciation of Jim Reeves. And if you read the last chapter, you see how I set his life story in a Biblical context and summarize him as an earnest human soul always striving for what's good, but sometimes falling short -- like we all do.
joan watt ... Don't you think we all face the truth? The Bible says that your (unconfessed) sins will be hollered, no, shouted from the rooftops .... God doesn't protect us from ourselves. Our choices are OUR responsibility- before hand, God's responsibility afterward. Fight it out with God. But it does sound like Jim didnt take time to change his ways before be died.

I have always wondered if Jim would have eventually returned to Texas to live, when his recording career stopped.
Greatest Singer of Our Time RIP
I AGREE.
