The triangle/circle/square sequence still doesn't make sense to me

At 4:46 we have: square, circle, triangle. At 5:00 pattern that can be treated as three columns - 1st column for square, 2nd - for circle, 3rd - for triangle. Moving from 1 to 8 we can get sequence for shapes.
