    The BEST thing about magic bands at wdw are the fact that there is absolutely no wait to get in the park even at opening . The 4 key points at each entrance instead of one turn style like DL currently has is a game changer . I hope this happens in Anaheim soon . So excited to see this coming to California.

    We bought some magic bands and used them, and I think I would rather have the physical annual pass. It's more convenient. It doesn't get caught on things and fall off. It always works. I don't have to charge it at the end of the day.
    The band is more convenient than your pass on your phone, but that convenience is short lived, because once you use the band to get into the parks or redeem a lightning lane reservation, you have to get your phone right out and use it to make reservations on genie+.

    This was so much easier. We got ours wednesday too. Scanning in was easier, DAS was easier, photo pass was much easier. The photographers loved the band because all they had to do was tap it. No glare issues with phones or searching for a card to scan. Once you can pay for things with it as well it will be a game changer. Basically anywhere you needed to open your phone to scan, made it much easier.

      @winterhotfoot1958 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Uh... You can already do all of the stuff the MagicBand replaces the phone for without a MagicBand or a phone... Disneyland still prints paper tickets when you bring in a print-out of your eTicket (that's an option they give you when you buy your ticket, instead of choosing to use the app for everything- and you can still choose to use the app later, if you want) and you can print your Magic Key barcode and the photopass QR codes, too. Anything you can't replace with a physical ticket or printout is something that the MagicBand can't do, either. And then, you still have to use your phone to make the Lighting Lane selections and Mobile orders and to check when they are, because the MagicBands don't do that, they only replace the "scan the barcode" part with "hold your arm at a weird angle while the computer transmits the barcode" which is even faster if you had a physical card in your hand, pocket, or lanyard than a piece of tech on your wrist.

      @@winterhotfoot1958 Yes! As the person in my family who is managing the entire park day on my cell phone-booking LLs, ordering food, navigating the park-I personally don’t see a benefit for me individually to have a MagicBand. I’ll be on my phone just the same anyway, and I generally don’t like things on my wrist. For my kids, who don’t have to manage anything and might think the bands are fun, then fine. But, even then, for $35-50 x6 people in my household, the novelty isn’t worth it. I know there are interactive things in the park that the MagicBand+ does-e.g. statues talk to you in WDW-but I’m just not that entertained by that, not for $200+.
      MagicMobile is the way to go! DL apparently does not offer it right now, but WDW does and it does most of what MagicBand does with no additional cost (assuming you already own a cell phone). It’s basically just putting your park pass in your Apple (or Google) wallet.

  • @katieins90omk

    It’s funny how you mention never using lightning lanes! As a regular park-goer, I’m not paying for genie+ every single time I go either and I almost never use photo pass. Without using those features.. the only thing the band is good for is scanning into the parks. At $50+ I question whether it’s worth it. Im still going to buy one, but still 😂

    As someone who's used both a card and a magic band at WDW, I would say that I prefer the magic band. The real reason it's a benefit is that as a parent I can put the magic bands on my children and they don't need to carry cards around. Secondly, I don't have to carry everyone's cards around. It's a big plus to be able to just have everyone manage themselves even if they're pretty little. Secondly, it's nice because you can link money to the card and if my kids and I split up for a while they can go somewhere and get something to eat without needing me. That way I'm also not giving them money or a card they can lose.

    I used magic bands on my 2019 trip to Florida, I found them quite convenient because women’s clothing tends to avoid pockets! I think it would also be very useful for children who might lose cards. This way, if the group is splitting up there’s less fuss about making sure the child’s ticket is with the child.

My sister, nieces and I stayed at the Art of Animation and it's just fun placing your band on the lock and it opens for you 😊 I am planning another trip in 2025 with my in-laws - possibly 7-9 kids and 12 adults 😂 but it depends who confirms on actually going 🤷🏻‍♀️. Magicbands will totally help us out on this part lol. If the Magicband lasts forever with it having to be charged now, could we purchase it even waaaay before our possible trip?

    Obviously, the magic band has to be turned on to work for the Bhatu Bounty Hunters, but does it have to be turned on for everything else? The original MagicBand was basically an RFID chip and all the places it could be used around Disneyworld just had RFID readers. Is it possible that it still has an RFID chip that is readable when the battery has died and the battery is just for the extra experiences?

  • @DragonFangX
    @DragonFangX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think the magicbands are probably a little more convenient long term for out-of-state visitors. Like when I went to Florida about two years back almost now, I loved being able to just buy the band, slap it on my wrist and just go. Never had to take it off and it became my room key, park pass, payment method for certain shops and dining. It makes it so good. For Disneyland, where it is more limited right now, I don't see it as beneficial beyond if you just like wearing a wristband till it can link to more things. But as someone who does like their wristbands, I for sure will get this next time I'm at Disneyland.

    • @Lucargia1
      @Lucargia1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had a similar experience in Florida in 2019! I think once Disneyland gets paying, proper entry scanners, and it hooked up to the park hotels, it'll be a no-brainer for at least non-local guests. They're a fun commodity/souvenir that makes things go just a tiny bit quicker and smoother. Not really worth it right now (at least for their price), but as they add those functionalities hopefully sooner rather than later your band will always work. I'm heading back over for New Years Eve for a few days so I'm hoping some of that might be up by then!

    When we (the family) did our last trip to DWorld, have the whole party of 15 of us magic banned really made life a lot easier especially when the kids went off to ride a bunch of the thrill rides and get food /snacks on their own. Magic Bands use RFID technology which requires no battery. The energy to read the RFID comes from the reader itself which has a coil to transmit energy to a pickup coil in the band giving the band enough momentary energy to transmit its unique ID code back to the reader. So no battery required and the Magic Band will last forever.

    I’ve been using MB at WDW for 2yrs and MB+ for one long trip last month. I like the convenience of the band for lighting pass vs pulling out phone. I’ve liked the bounty hunter game but should finish this next trip, so hope they will keep adding. I like it can unlock doors, get into park, LL, etc. They are waterproof so can wear in pool…and unlock door when done, so no need to figure out where to store key.
    Down side (but ok for me)
    -I do charge it every night.
    -It does let you by food (very convenient at festival food booths) and things at stores, but so far still goes to a cc not a gift card. If you want to go to a gift card, still need that or manually enter if mobile order (on phone) but it would be nice to have it remember gift cards.
    -if you wear a watch, two things on wrist or one on each arm
    -based on comments by others playing bounty hunter game with two MB+ but one account/phone, this can have issues or is a little tricky. But it sure helps get those kids worn out and moving !
    HOPEFULLY my MB+ will work at both parks, which I think they will. I know the play Disney game carries between them (ie your badges, etc). Maybe not for everyone but I like it.

To pay, go through Fast Pass (back then), using your meal plan, go to your resort room, photo pass, etc. all on a magic band rather than going through your cards is easier but at the cost of our privacy. Disney tracks which rides you go to, what you paid for, and which areas you hang out by tracking the bluetooth function of the magic band. But that is just me.

If my phone is more useful at DL (I.e.paying for purchases, loading predefined $ amounts for my kiddos, and/or simply telling the time) why would one want another device? Look up! To play one game in StarWars land and have it buzz/light up at World of Color? For 50 bucks? Give me a bunch of churros instead. The battery lasted the whole day and never dropped below 50%. I suspect the battery issues mentioned by early reviews were mostly due to playing the Battu bounty hunter game for an extended period of time. I can imagine all of the vibration and and lights from that game can kill your batter fast.

      Like Tom Corless of WDWNT playing it for almost three hours straight, then complaining that the battery died.

    1. Re Dining Plan at WDW, it’s still in hold according to those who know.
    2. I bought my new Magic Band+ for an upcoming WDW trip. Great news! They will work at Disneyland too! So I’m assuming it will also work in reverse.

    We purchased our MagicBands+ at Disney World about 6 weeks ago when we were there. They do work at Disneyland as well, but there is something to know, and anyone who had the Premier pass already knows this. What you need to do is unlink your MB+ from your Disney World app and relink it to your Disneyland app, and then you are good to go. The CMs kept telling us that they wouldn't work at Disneyland, but they do! I purchased the LL as well to test it out, no issues, also worked seamlessly for your photos, and entering the parks. We had to show a few CMs how to read the bands to entry into the parks going back and forth, but still seamless. Enjoy everyone. As David said, not necessary, but it is convenient to just hold up your wrist, and that's it.
    Been going to Disneyland since '66 and retired a few weeks ago and moving to Orlando area to save a ton of money in taxes and gas prices so I'll miss you Disneyland, but I'll be back to visit, especially as the 100th anniversary begins.

    I’ll be interested to see what CM’s think about the magic bands. Will they be more efficient in the long run when hundreds of people are using them for entering the parks? This goes for the food booths at the festivals as well as entrance into the parks. I thought they were very convenient when getting food in WDW at the food festival.

    I see you're using a third party screen recording app, but did you know Samsung has built in screen recording? Swipe down to get to the quick menu and look for the camera icon in brackets. I found that worked better than the third party ones.

    When I found out magic bands were FINALLY going to be at Disneyland, I was so stoked that I was going to buy all my food and merch with the magic bands. Sucks to know that they don’t have that feature. I’m coming for New Years Eve, I’m hoping by that time we will be able to use it as our debit card. It would be so convenient!

      Just like mobile ordering without inserting your card info everytime, your card can be registered in the app. At WDW you can use your magic band to pay and it uses the card on file. Disneyland should(?) Have that in the future. Just not one of the things it can do rn

    • @ParksWithMark
      @ParksWithMark 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Llamanette17 that’s not correct. WDW only allows charging IF you are a resort guest. That’s it no one else. Disneyland will be getting that feature for hotel guest early next year.

      @onesydneygirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Llamanette17 when you use your magic band at WDW to make a purchase, it’s not charging to a card stored in your app - it’s charging back to your room account at your on-site hotel.

    One important point that seems to be getting lost: the MB+ only needs to be charged to enjoy the interactive features (lights, haptics, etc.). For everything else, it uses RFID just like the old bands.

    In WDW, there is no dining plan right now. They never returned after COVID. Also, at WDW, you cannot pre load funds on the band. You can pay with your magic band, this will charge to your room. Then you can pay your room charge with a gift card. If you aren't sure, please don't comment with false information.

    I wish they'd make the app have a smart watch feature that does all this. Seems like smart watch/wallet would cover the park admission and lightning lane, and location based push notifications + screen would cover the interactive adventure parts... They could even just make it a companion app and charge for it if it's a matter of making $ on it. I can see buying this for my kids who don't wear a smart watch, but I don't really want another band on my wrists.

    • @tedthurgate
      @tedthurgate ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I wear a smart watch too, but people will pay more for a cute Disney band. People would bristle at paying $30 for an app. I would prefer a watch app and would pay, but I think most people would view it differently.
