Excellent video. I came up on a Kustom 1970s 1-B that doesn't turn on. A few questions for you. It had a cord without a ground that I replaced. Fuse was toasted as well. Should I remove the capacitor as well? No shocks yet but given what happened to your customer thought I should.

If you are putting the 3 prong cord on, disconnecting that cap is appropriate. Test the fuse with a meter.

I remember when Kustom came out back in the day.. The padded cabs were 'cool' but once looking inside the amp heads, it was kind of a disappointment. They were noisy, but loud.. and had good reverb. I was a tube Fender fan and stayed that way.

Once you earth ground the amp, the noise level goes way down. I really like the Kustom 200 for Bass. I had an early K200 "Frankenstein" that was for guitar, and that didn't groove for me. You can see that amp on earlier videos, it was also charcoal. The gent who bought it really liked them because they did whatever his pedal board sent without coloring it up. Most of the players who have tried my rehabilitated K200 bass rigs are quite charmed by them. Everyone has a favorite. My favorite guitar amp is still the Smokin Joe that I built last year.

I play through a Kustom 200 B1, the head is all original, as well as a 'custom' build for the time. It has amazing tone as well as the original Jensen made speakers inside....Mine doesn't hum at all.

I've upgraded these with larger reservoir caps since then. When you need a big bass note, it was fuzzing out a little. Bigger caps helped. I like them lots.

Hi!! I have a custom L-1 (guitar amp) but it makes an annoying Humm, with the volume at 0 and nothing plugged in. Any idea what it could be?
I put a couple of generic capacitors (2200 uf 35v) in the filter stage just for testing and the humm was still there so i put back the originals ones (two 1900uf 40v Mallory axial caps) . So I guess filter caps wasn't the problem?
everything works, it's just the annoyIng Humm
    hope you can help me

I don't have any experience with that model, so anything would be a guess.
