this song can be suitable for convocation events where the fresh graduates celebrate the end of their studies and bow towards their parents and instructors as a sign of gratitude.
So far it's my favourite of your songs. And I'm playing it everytime I feel sad, it always brings me back joy and hope. Thank you so much for creating my VHS Heroes
I don't care how much time passes between releases, you're really talented and have a unique flavor to your music. As long as you're creating you'll be featured in my projects 👍
It's 1985. You're 12 years old. Summer. Saturday afternoon. Cartoons are over and you're bored. All your allowance went to the arcade this week, so no money. You and your best friend head downtown and manage to sneak into the local one screen movie theater. What's playing? Doesn't matter. Some sports movie. But you got past the ticket taker, the pimply faced guy in high school that thinks he's all cool. You scrunch down in the front row, hoping nobody will see the tops of your heads. The movie starts, and hey, it's pretty good. It's about a guy trying to win a sports thing, an underdog who doesn't stand a chance. Doesn't matter what kind of sport, they're all the same, and the bullies in the film are as stock as they come. In the end, the guy wins the competition and despite the bullies cheating, he still wins. He gets the girl, gains the respect of his distant father, and his best pal is going to recover from his injuries just fine. Cue to the credits. This song plays. This song right here. Instead of credits, it rolls a series of vignettes. The bullies get what they deserve, the guy finishes college and marries his new girl, the friend recovers and goes on to start his own successful business, and everybody feels good. You duck out the exit and laugh at how cheesy it all was. Almost 40 years later, you're at your computer. Home from another long day at work First grand kid is on the way soon. Still paying on the house. Wife is out shopping. And you hear this song. It hits you like a sledgehammer and suddenly...you're 12 years old again, sitting in the movie theater. You remember the cracked vinyl of the seat, and the slightly loose arm rest. You remember the dorky movie, and remind yourself to look it up on Netflix later. But the music is what hits you most, what you remember most. That triumphant, spirited synth that you spent your edgier teens and twenties distancing yourself from, only to come back around and fall in love with all over again. I think at some point, we all want to go back. To that place where we feel most comfortable. The time where things made sense and we understood the world. 80's, 90's, 00's. Whenever. But we can't go back, can we. We can only go forward. But...for just a moment, you can be right back in the dark movie theater again, and this music will never, ever truly be lost to time. Not so long as we still remember.
so uplifting!
