I keep seeing people in comments asking for tips, so I’m gonna let y’all in on what I know (I would consider myself decent at the game. Consistent 75-80 w% in park from 2K19-23, picked up play now last year):
Rebounding:
If you are in Play Now, USER BOX OUT! From what I find, if you know how to rebound and play defense with your center, you can control the pace of the game. AIs can be wormed very easily. Speaking of worm, all you have to do in order to worm a player is pull the left stick either left or right depending on which side your player is on. If they are not on either side of the player they are being boxed out by, you can choose. If you hold both RT/R2 and triangle, you will get more aggressive rebounding animations as well. If you think you are out of position for the rebound, run in at an angle and hold Y/Triangle.
Perimeter Defense:
Hold LT/L2 only when you’re in position. If you get beat don’t bother, full on sprint and try to beat them to the spot. If you want to shuffle fast keep pressing RT/R2. Almost always have a hand up until your opponent commits to the drive. If you’re using a defender with good badges, aim for body bumps to take away a lot of stamina.
Shooting & Dribbling:
Go into 2KU. HOF difficulty like Vlad said in his last wager video. Practice with the starters (at least) of a variety of teams to learn certain players animations. 30 minutes of 2KU can completely change your perspective.
Hopefully this helps some of you out. It’s very small details, but I’m sure that they will drastically improve your gameplay.
