I’ve watched some videos on the handling and care of tulips from Europe and they all say tulips love cold water and to even add ice to the water. Is it different in the United States?
That's an interesting question, Chrystalyn! Generally they aren't used them in floral design, but you can always experiment and see what you can create with them. You might also enjoy this special Flower School Live where Teacher Michelle created a couple of gorgeous arrangements using tulips: th-cam.com/video/i_um4H1RvZY/w-d-xo.html Thanks for all of your support and kind praise about our shows. @@FlowerSchool thank you so much 💓😘 I'm following from iraq, I speak English little but not very well, I hop you good luck 👍 have amazing weekend 🌿🌱💐🌷🌳🌴🍀🍃
Good question, Patty. Are you thinking about tulips planted in the ground or in pots perhaps? Usually you get one or two flowers per bulb, but they usually flower once each season. Either way tulips are such beautiful flowers and easy to use in designs if you hydrate them well with water and flower food. Thanks again for watching our show, and hope to see you again very soon.
That's a great question, Joey! We use OASIS floral food because it helps flowers stay fresh longer. It's available on our website if you are interested: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3_17 Thank you very much for watching our show, and we hope you will join us again for more floral design with Leanne!
How do care for the forced indoor grow tulips in a glass vase that was a gift, they've bloomed but could we plant them outside. Is there a proper way to do the planting?
what are best bulbs for growing in vace with water tx patty bell Minnesota can I grow on my deck when warm I'm in Minnesota would like to fill my deck with water vsces looks nice
Wish I could help more, but we are designers not gardeners. I think you will find your answers at this website. www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/bulbs/tulips/growing-tulips-in-water.htm
Fresh clean water is your next best option if you don't have floral food, Geee! If you are looking to purchase some, we do have it available on our website here: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_17&products_id=209 There are three primary ingredients in flower food that help to extend the life of your flowers: a sugar which provides nourishment for the cut flowers, a biocide which inhibits the growth of fungi and bacteria, and an acidifier, which lowers the pH of the water. Thank you so much for taking time to watch our show on the care and handling of tulips. It's tulip season in many parts of the world, and they are such beautiful flowers to enjoy. We hope to see you again soon and wish you all the best. P.S. If you would like an update on tulip care, you might enjoy this video too: th-cam.com/video/zJ7zKW5fCsw/w-d-xo.html Please have a lovely and peaceful week!
That's a good question, Glenda! Once the tulips have been processed, you can probably change it every other day and keep them fresh. Just make sure that the water stays clean and there are no leaves or other foliage in the water because they can decay and shorten the life of your flowers. Thanks so much for watching our show today and we hope to see you again very soon. Best wishes to you for spring flowers and tulips galore!
We are here for you any time, Glenda! Just reach out and we'll try to help. P.S. You might enjoy our resource library too: www.floraldesigninstitute.com/resources.html
Thank you for this helpful video! This may be a silly question, but do you put the flower food in the warm water where you prep them or in the vase? And how often should I change the water in the vase?
That's a very good question, Mariam. Usually flower food is added to the water at the first step when you plan to hydrate them for at least two hours in a bucket. Then you when you change the water in the vase, you can use clean water with more flower food in it to keep them fresh and beautiful longer. Thanks so much for watching our show, and we hope you will join us again soon!

So happy to hear that you enjoy tulips as they are one of our favorite flowers. Wishing you all the best and thank you very much for watching our show!
That's a great question, Patty. Tulips are such beautiful flowers, and they will be in season again very soon. Either way they are cheerful, elegant spring flowers that we all enjoy. Thanks very much for watching our show, and we hope you will join us again soon!

If they still have the bulb you could certainly plant them in the ground and they should return again in later winter, early spring.
