It was so nice that this is being talked about!!! I am in a comfortable financial position and there was this financial milestone that I wanted to achieve before I bought this luxury bag at the 6-digit price point. It was a bag that I'd been eyeing for a loooong time. However, now that I am going to buy it, I hesitate and change my priorities because I realize that maybe I just like that bag because everyone else has it. So I also asked myself do I really like it that much? I ended up changing my plans to instead of getting that bag, I'm now going to treat my family to an all-expense international trip. BUT I will also be getting this luxury EDP that I've been eyeing for months just to get something for myself, but the price point is more practical. Thanks, Nicole & Cat!! 💗
At 10:50 into the vid I realized that your standard of happiness has to be practical as well. It has to change, it has to evolve so there's no pressure in subscribing to luxurious consumerism. Like Cat said what she really cared for are things like paying her rent etc., Soooo enlightening.
I would love to hear about the Filipino brands that you support in your wardrobe and what draws you to them. Your segment for Preview inspired me to do more research into Filipino brands.
Love this episode!! I believe this is the first time this has been discussed by local celebs (and likely the last..but hopefully not). Looking forward to more videocasts with this kind of content👏🏽 just subscribed!!
I love this discussion! It helps me in the right perspective about buying stuff not necessarily luxury things but whatever I see online. Ilang beses na ako nabudol because of trends and impulse. Thank you for this podcast. Hope to see and learn more ❤
Great stuff! Yes, important obligations must come first e.g monthly amortisations, health maintenance, etc. I totally agree on mindfulness and intentional spending. Am not an influencer, so I work hard for all my luxury items. I only splurge to celebrate milestones. And I am selective on the items I splurge on. Classic bags, shoes jewelry, definitely yes. Logo screaming clothes ❌️❌️ for me. The wear and tear of designer clothes are just the same as regular brands. To me this is not a justifable purchase.
Present! This is indeed an interesting topic given that a lot of influencers are consumed by this trend and tend to lose their authenticity just to prove a point. Also, it's hilarious seeing Nicole's face disappear 4:25 behind that ginormous mug! Haha You girls always rock!🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this, Cat & Nicole. I purchased my very first LV at 50 hahaha. Talk about milestone! ROI naman kasi ginagamit ko every single day yung item. Masarap yung feeling kasi para syang accomplishment. At last, nakabili ako ng ganitong item. Na-hook din ako sa secondhand luxury later on but mindful ako sa mga purchases ko and tina-try ko syang i-resell para makabili ako ng ibang items.
I know myself, no matter how pretty and expensive "something" is...if I get tired of it, it will just sit on a shelf collecting dust. And my excitement towards something "materialistic" tends to die down after a few days or weeks. So maybe this is why (even if I can afford) I was never really lured into anything luxury. You may have heard it told many times and might already sound a cliche but there are far more things in the world that can give you the same or higher level of satisfaction that won't break the bank. We really just have to look closer and deeper to appreciate these little things around us. Cheers to our non pretentious queens! There really is something that sets you ladies apart from others, WE VALUE YOUR AUTHENTICITY here so much!
Sobrang eye opening to na di lahat ng clebrities are so into luxuries, personally mas pref ko lagi mga local brands at di pricy items kase mas tumatagl sila idk it happens to me a lot and i cherish them minsan nagtataka sila kala nila mamahalin pero hindi po
thank you po dahil tig 100 lang talaga afford namin minsanan pa kung makabili pero that doesnt make us less of a person.. Thank you pretty ladies God bless
Wow, I just listened to another insightful podcast episode filled with powerful statements! When it comes to luxury items, my perspective hasn’t changed. If I can’t see a way to earn money from it, I choose to pass. Also, if it's something that wouldn't make my Tatay proud, I won’t go for it either. And, of course, if it doesn’t bring me genuine joy, it's a no-go for me. Super insightful podcast!. Thank you Catriona Gray and Nicole Cordoves
Good topic to discuss. Having a luxury items is a good feeling to have and a status symbol. But for a Mom like me, I will invest, save the money for retirement and helping the future of my kids and future family to buy their house.
Dito po sa Japan hindi mo makikitaan ang mga celebrity na nagsusuot ng luxury sa tv kahit mga unboxing kung anong trending ngayon wala sa Pilipinas ang mga celebrity pa nangunguna like the trending labubu ngayon
Good podcast. I'm more like both of you so I agree it would be educational to have another episode with a guest who has a different perspective so you don't risk sounding like an echo chamber. Perhaps a guest who buys luxury items primarily to admire them (not necessarily to use - like those who put them in glass cabinets) and/or someone who buys luxury items to keep up with the Joneses and maybe - as a result - suffers financial hardships.
i didn’t do research about having luxury brand being ‘not’ an investment in the pov of non-content creator - are allll luxe bag not an investment or just some really ‘trendy and expensive’ bags? it’s hard not mention brands but say channel, dior, lv (i thought) are investments, while goyard or those dumpling/croissant shaped bag brand, gucci etc are not? idkkkk, i might just be bluffing 😅
Personally, I really don’t see it as an investment compared to watches or jewelry for example where the prices really do appreciate. The designer bags that actually increase in value naman (like the limited edition Hermes ones), you need to buy a kajillionnnnn useless expensive things you don’t necessarily want from them so they will sell you the item you really want. So if you look at it, it’s worth sooooo much more than the actual price tag 😱 not an expert cause I’m not really into it,but this is what I know so far 😁 kaya in the end, I think it’s safer to buy it cause you really like it and it’s within your means vs actually treating it as an investment 😁 Anyone who’s reading this comment, do enlighten us if you have more info and share your buying principles too 🫶🏼
It really is very impractical (for me) to buy luxury products. I know I cant afford them but if I can, I still won't buy them. I will rather invest on something better like maybe a business. Anyway, good and interesting content, Cat and Nicole. Love listening to the both of you. Keep up the good work! 🤗🤗🤗🫶🫶🫶
great points but its easier to talk like this when you were not deprived growing up. its easier to say " i have to really want it..." or "i cant be implusive" when you grow up well off. its a complete different ball game when you grow up poor or in poverty and then mejo nakaluwag luwag na. i could be wrong tho.. 🤷🏻♀️ (theres just a sense of entitlement and hypocrisy in this post.. its hard to explain - i just cant put my finger or mind in it but i dont think people who come from a well off, well taken cared off family -who btw travelS in Europe or are being gifted with luxury items-should be giving their two cents about this topic) 🤷🏻♀️
While I agree to some of your points, at the end of the day it depends on the person and her principles in life. I grew up not getting everything I wanted and jealous of other people around me. But I didn't let it dictate on how I approach consumption now that I'm an adult, I still just buy what speaks to me, what matters to me (and its not luxury goods) hehe

Contento na ako sa shoppee, ukay hahahah dipendi nlang yan sa pag aura, 😅
I didn't buy it to resell, I bought it kislux to own and wear. And to be honest, they look so similar, I'd rather buy a fake kislux .

Because of culture
I connect this dun sa "healing my inner child" thing sa socmed. Sometimes people justify their purchases with this. Your thoughts?
Ang cute ni doggo ate cat palakadlakad 😢❤
