If Kaitlin was so willing to leave her boyfriend and life behind all her worldly possessions, and live a new life in another country, why not just do that? Why only do this utterly life-changing event after murdering someone?! Why was murder necessary?! These people just baffle me.

LotL - Exactly.... it's as if she had no end game when planning to kill Mo.... although my hunch is she thought that she could kill Mo without being discovered as the killer and lived happily ever after with Colin. She only fled after the police made it clear she was their #1 suspect and the walls were closing in.

She ccould have lived in paradise, started a new life.

In America most murders go unpunished, even when you exclude the ones the US police commit every eight hours on average.
There's no lock that cannot soon be bypassed or picked, and the same is true of surveillance; there's always a way to avoid being caught. We only hear about people getting caught because otherwise there's usually no story. If this particular person wanted to avoid capture she did it all wrong.

I can never understand why murder somebody instead of leaving a cheating partner. Not only is it the worst thing to do to someone, but you ruin your own life as well. Cheating (not sure if they were really cheating or what but the idea remains) is ofc bad but you don't murder someone because of it, you leave the relationship. Usually these cases happen when someone well...become obsessed
They feel "he" or "she" is the trophy and they feel an obsessive compulsion to kill their "competition".
The unfortunate reality is, it doesn't really matter in these cases. It's likely, had he left her entirely, she would have either killed him or her (or both) later. She certainly had the means and the temperament and it's commonplace to see a partner who domestically abuses (physically or emotionally) not take the news well if their victim decides to leave them.

    • @Wheres_my_Dragonator
      @Wheres_my_Dragonator ปีที่แล้ว +10

Based on the dude's quote about her suddenly becoming more forceful, and just being jealous about him dating the victim despite having already split, it was all about power. To her, having her man all to herself matters more than breaking up with him and hooking up with someone else, since that would mean admitting defeat.
Just because we're living in a period of peace, doesn't mean the mindset of being a conqueror doesn't exist anymore. If anything, it's more prevalent now since women are encouraged to be more open and their repressed feelings are finally being put to show, but there isn't a lot of things that can hold them back because they're still seen as delicate creatures regardless when it comes to being reprimanded. The concept of her wanting to feel ownership of someone else is hard for you to understand because it's typically seen as a male-only aspect. She probably thought the bf was gonna take all the heat. Not everyone is a true crime aficionado, so it hadn't crossed her mind that the law isn't as biased as the public.

The bizarre thing to me is that Colin hooked up briefly with Moriah while he and Kaitlin were broken up (reminds me of Ross and Rachel on Friends). Meanwhile she was bedding numerous men during this time. Then she’s enraged and jealous about his brief fling (that apparently meant more to Moriah than him) with Moriah! She must have felt incredibly threatened by Moriah to have reacted so badly to a fairly normal situation. Moriah clearly had more strength and character than Kaitlin; maybe that reality threw K into a murderous rage. Colin’s no prize by any means, but anyone can be seen as property by another. It’s pretty creepy that she had very assertive, maybe aggressive?, sex with him right after getting back from Moriah’s location (allegedly). Moriah deserved better than either of them. It’s tragic that these relationships cost her her life. Condolences to her family and many friends.

I think-not that she would ever admit to this-that those men she slept with were nothing to her; Moriah was a very accomplished, attractive woman, in the same circle as her and Collin…and then he kept seeing her on the down low, platonic or not.
In other words, those men were disposable; Moriah was a threat. I guess. This whole thing is such a mess. Two talented, gifted women are destroyed over some trifling man who is playing both sides.

The fact that women wear make-up shows they are extraordinarily vain creatures who are obsessed with their looks which is inextricably linked to their age.
Older men take Viagra because they no longer find their aged-out wife or girlfriend attractive. And the medical profession and big pharma don't like saying that so they invented this false narrative that older men 'somehow' get this mysterious condition called "erectile dysfunction." It's not politically correct to say they simply no longer find their wife or girlfriend attractive as they age.

Colin knew Kaitlin was jealous and possessive. Even so, he agreed to continue sharing a home, albeit in separate bedrooms. It's very rare that a couple can shift from having a committed monogamous relationship - to being 'just friends' or 'just friends but with intermittent benefits'. Usually one party has moved on emotionally from the relationship, while the other has NOT, but { superficially} 'agrees' to this change- whilst secretly and desperately clinging to the vain hope that by simply still being around the other person they will 'fall back in love' with them and they can resume. They often tell themselves they're 'allowing this break' in order to let the other party get 'the need to stray' out of their system.
Kaitlin was probably having multiple casual sexual partners to try to 'prove' to Colin that she WASN'T Clingy or possessive, and even perhaps trying to trigger some jealousy on his part. Sadly, Colin likely wasn't caring or noticing, just taking it on face value. If so, his EIQ ( Emotional Intelligence Quotient ) here appears to be pretty low, AND If he continued to have casual sex with Kaitlin he was, inadvertently, setting up a 'bomb'.
Both had casual sexual hook ups after their 'separation under the one roof', but the developing relationship with Moriah was different. This was a definite threat to Kaitlin's hopes to rekindle things with Colin. Moriah was a rising star in the cycling world, a peer of Colin, and in the same social group. This wasn't just a casual hook up. He liked and admired her. Kaitlin didn't have the funds to move out and set up in independent accommodation. Nor did she want to. If this relationship developed there was no further place in Colin's life or accommodation for Kaitlin.
She immediately began stalking and harassing Moriah - who backed off. So did Colin, but he then set the trigger for the final outcome. Instead of telling Kaitlin outright; "No, this is someone I'm potentially serious about and I want to see where this goes - and if you can't deal with that then we have to plan for living separately.", he chickened out and only pretended to cut contact. Why did he do that? Was he wanting to 'keep her in reserve' ( ie: wanting her to continue to pay half the rent and 'be available' to him, until he was more sure of Moriah? ) If so, that was incredibly selfish and stupid of him, especially as he NOW knew, without a doubt that Kaitlin WAS definitely jealous and angry. (Moriah had shown him the texts. ) Instead, he lied and covered up and hid the ongoing contact with Moriah under a false name in his phone. Which action Moriah must have colluded with. THIS then became the FOCUS of ALL of Kaitlin's jealous RAGE, when she continued to check his phone and discovered it. Placing ALL the blame on 'the other woman' allows Kaitlin to continue to keep Colin placed front and centre as 'her love object'. The rest unfortunately is history.
One key question remains; and it's not about intent, ( for Colin had no reason to want Moriah out of the way... ) but the volume of his stupidity. When exactly did he buy Kaitlin the gun?
Just to be clear; Kaitlin IS guilty of this murder. Lot's of people get angry with another and talk hot-headedly of killing them, but making an actual plan, and carrying it out is a whole other thing.

As one who prosecuted and defended criminal defense cases for forty years, the evidence outlined here, including the matching ballistics on the SigSauer 10mm pistol, the video of her driving by Ms. Wilson's residence soon before her shooting death, Armstrong's statements that she wanted to kill Mo Wilson, Armstrong selling her car around the time of the shooting to raise cash, her fleeing Austin and the country for Costa Rica using a stolen passport, and her assuming a false identity and undergoing plastic surgery in Costa Rica, will likely result in a short deliberation and conviction by the jury on the charge of murder by Kaitlin Armstrong. In TX, I believe the jury decides the term of punishment, and I would surmise that it will be severe, most likely life without parole. Time will tell.
