- Our miniature dachshund Mac loves learning new tricks (and getting treats for it). In the afternoon, he usually waits by the cupboard that contains his dog treats and waits for our little daily dog training session to begin. :)
Mac is a miniature sausage dog (doxie, teckel, dackel) who lives in Montreal. Follow his adventures here!

Hello!! How long did you take to teach Mac one of those tricks? I've been trying to teach my Leia to give her paw but wirh no sucess... probably I'm a bad teacher 🙄
Hi Ana! (Love the name Leia☺️) Mac is super motivated by treats, so it’s pretty easy to teach him new tricks but paw was definitely the hardest for him. It took a few weeks of coaxing his paw up with my hand while saying paw and then saying yes and shaking it while he eats a treat, but it eventually clicked 🙂
Thank you for answering so quickly. My "princess" Leia 🤭 isn't very motivated by treats. Maybe that's the problem. I'll keep trying 😊 Give Mac a big hug from Portugal 🤗

you shouldnt be saying stay so much. and it is better (at least in the beginning) if you dont call him to come to you when you are teaching to stay. tell him to stay and then you go to him and reward him for staying.

And off & running w / those adorable little legs he goes!! Amazing he can put on the brakes. They're always ready to take off. Love when their ears look like they're going to fly away & those little legs go a mile a minute. They're so amusing & entertaining.

Mac is so adorable, intelligent, and loving! I have a mini dachshund grand puppy that often stays here, and I put Mac’s videos on for him to watch! Lol my grand puppy is only 5 months old, but he sits down on his little blanket, and looks up at the tv and stares at Mac like it’s a long distance best friend! 💙💙

I used to review all my Dobbie’s training occasionally throughout the year adding new tricks. She knew over 65 commands. Any animal can learn with fair correction and patience. Miss having them.
Is there anything better than Mac running toward you full tilt after doing a successful stay?! Not much, that's for sure!!🤩🥰😁

Are little girl 👧 before we had to put her down, she was a smart one. My wife and I love 😍 to get two more but we can't afford to purchase one because we are low-income and 🧓 seniors they don't give us the money 💵 to afford one. But I 'm looking for one free but I can't find any extra mini dachshund ,we can find some one wants to give us on.John E.May

I have always had female minis. They have a mind of their own. It's like trying to train a wall. That is why I have a stubborn dachshund trick t-shirt.

At what age did Mac learned these tricks?
We started with the basics like sit and stay right away (2-3 months old) and then slowly added a few tricks once he learned those. He’s learned a few recently as well 🙂
