Aloha from Oahu. Found you in November and you're now one of my faves 😊I always think how brave people who do TH-cam must be to put themselves out here for the whole world to see. A veteran cook can always tell when people know what they're doing on the kitchen and you know your stuff. I'm trying that risotto for my grand babies this weekend. Thanks
Personally I like all your videos. I know the time that goes into getting these out. Letting us viewers into your world is so appreciated. I do not like to eat leftovers, very rarely do I. Not going to change at my age 71yrs this year.
hehe, my floor is too dirty to eat off anyway, which is prob why they hang around, though I am known for giving them extra tidbits, I'm a softie... hehe
Loved all your lunches and dinners, good variety and made with love. I like this format and you have given me some ideas for our dinners this week, thank you. 🥰 Take care.
I admire your ability to be so flexible and simply go with the flow…..for some changes in anything becomes a challenge…. Ride the waves is my motto…in end one has no choice 😉….. btw I loved this format. 😊
Good morning. Yummy looking food all of it. It always looks delicious don’t worry about the presentation when you’re feeding 8 time to faf around isn’t part of the equation 😊 your videos have inspired me to shop once a month instead of most weeks. I’m optimistic it’s going to work well. Thanks for sharing x
Not me eating Vita Brits at 11.02am while watching this. I am the same a cuppa at 7.30 am and not eating till late morning or mid afternoon. 😂 On days I work I have a cuppa in the morning, a couple of cuppas at work and then I often only eat dinner for the day. No wonder my metabolism is shot but hey that's just how it is. 🙃
hehe, is 11.30 here and I've put food on for dinner tonight, and probably dinner tomorrow night (broke down a pork roast) but still haven't eaten... whoops!
Hi Nyssa great video i really enjoyed the running commentary as your cooking from scratch your meals look real and delicious as always takw care and lots of love 🥰🌹
Gday Nyssa, Great vid and food looking amazing as usual especially the reef and beef 😋 🦐🐂 Looking great 👍 Hope your chronic pain is settling abit with the diet.
unfortunately I'm not having much luck with the pain levels, I'm actually going through a bit of a flare atm, its a struggle, am still figuring out what works for me, maybe eventually!
@OurSmallFootprint Yeah it's a terrible struggle. I went the other way with veg and fruit to help with pain and eliminated the meat and dairy, I had a decrease in pain but I missed my meat far too much, couldn't sustain it long term 😆
This brings back memories. Would do similar, leaving out the herbs and spices until reheat. Chili con carne, bolognese, or just savoury mince. Always so damned versatile.
We tend to be ok with the base flavours, but it totally is versatile isn't it, to have that base sauce and mince and to alter it to whatever you feel like :)
I absolutely loved this video. I watched it twice, 2nd time with pen and paper. I've been testing flat breads and haven't been happy. So I'm trying your recipe. Thankyou so much 😊
I need to get it up on the website actually, I did a pdf of it ages ago for my patrons but haven’t made it to the website. It’s pretty no fail, I really like it!
I've never been a fan, I can make something in bulk that I eat over a period of time, but eating the same thing two meals running, really not my thing :S
You are doing a great job. I enjoy your content very much. I know living of grid is very challenging, but I would love to live that life. I think it would be really hard but fulfilling. ❤
Love love love this new ‘week of meals’ format. You have some great scratch cooking meal ideas, and I love that you show how you and Darryl eat keto also. Thank you as always Nyssa :).
I really enjoyed this video. Hearing you talk as you’re doing things makes it easier for me to understand what you’re doing. I’m definitely not a good cook, I’m trying though. Let Darrell know I missed his arm sweep. It’s a classic.
Looks great! I am working on a pantry challenge for the month and am having pasta with mushroom pork sauce for supper tonight (and lunch tomorrow) with ingredients from my stash only! I can especially relate during this challenge to the way you eat all the time - if you don't have something, you find a substitute or do without!
I watch other people doing the pantry challenge each year, but I feel like I pretty much do it every shopping cycle lol :D. I think its a great thing to do though, it really pushes you to think of what you can use the stuff you have for and make it work :D
Darryl always says he wishes he'd known a lot of the things he has learned being with me when he was single, because there were so many things he could have made that were slightly more interesting than he did lol.
Yummy. Everything looked great. The brioche rolls are beautiful. The cheese and mince waffles sound delicious. I love what you cook. I don't mind eating leftovers occasionally just as they come but i mostly turn them into something else. Cooking something extra , or a whole meal extra when i cook , makes so much sense . Those flatbreads are perfect, definitely love the blisters deeply browned. So good. Thanks for sharing lovely ❤❤
I definitely prefer cooking a bit of extra meat or something rather than a whole double up of the meal and then using that extra for an almost completely diff meal!
I have a tendency to freeze the leftovers to turn into something else, but yeah, I'm not overly fond of them, meal prep can be different I think though, like making the bulk part of something and freezing it intentionally, all in my head though i'm sure lol
I absolutely love your channel! You're doing great! Im saving my cardboard boxes to cover the weeds in my garden rows. We are Bermuda grass and that stuff is like a weed, you can't get rid of it. Also, I've recently found thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin at Costco. I was thinking about getting some and making like roast beef with it. I can't stand leftovers. Unless I reinvent something with it. ❤❤❤❤❤
We're going to try whipper snipping down the paths and keep on adding layers of cardboard, see if we can get on top of the grass growth! its been neverending!
@OurSmallFootprint oh I know and understand! We've even used a hand tiller thing. It has long tines you slam into the ground then twist the handle like a steering wheel back and forth and it breaks the soil and roots up. Then we go back and pick all the weed wads up lol. Or we get out the big rear tined tiller that's a walk behind. Each year we say we're (my mom and i) only going to do a small garden. That turns into 100+ tomato plants, peppers, potatoes, melons of different varieties, corn, flowers. It's exhausting just naming them lol. I have faith you'll get it under better control. ❤️
Love this! New friend here because I'm into the January pantry challenge, and saving money on the food budget whenever possible. I'll have to catch up on your channel because it looks like you're cooking in a tent, so that's interesting.
I don't tend to do the pantry challenge, because we kinda do it every shopping cycle hehe! one day I might get ahead enough that I need to clean things out, but generally most things get cleaned out between each 8 week shop heh! Welcome!
I haven’t used a waffle press like that. Will have to give it a whirl. I’m off to Costco. A late in the day trip. Never been late in the day and a Friday so who knows how busy it might be. Worked in the yard this morning before it heats up in the next few days so I feel I’ve achieved something and it was great having one of your vids to relax and watch when I came in and had a bite to eat. I need to loose weight but I’ve never achieved weight loss with a high protein diet. I think I’ll just cut out breads and pastas and give that a go. Cheers for the upload.
I think I will prob adapt more to a lowish carb (like under the 130g a day) rather than keto, I'm just not satisfied without some of the extras I miss, but D is doing really well, and will continue it on, so we'll see how we go! I find with costco sometimes you just can't tell when it will be busy or not!
@@OurSmallFootprint the car parking was chaotic, therefore a lot of people inside. On the positive side, they had every register open. Got what I needed.
@ good! Mum and I always know it’s going to take as long as it takes so we try really hard not to get flustered by all the people. I am looking forward to packing the car in cooler temps though, I wish our Costco had shade!
Really enjoyed this video Nyssa, I think it because we hear family in the background as well as you speaking while cooking… I have wanted to mention this a few times, I have noticed drawings/fake tattoos on your arms sometimes 😊this brings me joy as it shows a loving relationship between Mother and her children 💐
heh, I definitely pick my times to film, try and get the optimal times for their behaviour! but also there's bits I cut out when someone inevitably bashes someone else, or yells at them etc lol, they have their moments, but they're generally pretty good!
I need to make some of those brioche buns! And the chaffles look tasty too! I'm like you with leftovers. I don't know why. I seem to have leftover aversion syndrome. I just can't do it so I cook everything pretty much exactly what we'll eat on the day. Husband suffers the same affliction 😮 I think you're actually looking great! Happy and healthy even if you're finding the diet boring 😊
I do extra so my son has left over for lunch for wk he loves it as he hates sandwiches I hadly did sandwiches when they were at school from grade 2 it was left overs and they enjoy it
Hi Nyssa I love this format! I know you've said weight loss isn't your focus on keto/carnivore but godamn you've lost a bunch of weight!!!!! Feel more energised soon 😊
Speaking of leftovers, a recipe I wonder if your kiddos might like are "Tattie Scones". You use leftover mashed potato and flour. I googled a Thermie recipe and then add cheese to them. Served with bacon. My kids loved them!! I always struggle with leftover mash recipes
@@OurSmallFootprint haha. Yeah, I don't usually either...but I did this particular day. I admire the prep you go through to eat carnivore. Does all that meat and cheese make you feel sick at all? I thought my type 1 diabetic husband might do well eating that way
I really like this video and the new camera angle . I think you look beautiful and I can tell you have lost weight . Your children are so cute to me , and helping you serve their plates
I've seen it done too, but I did try canning meatballs once and nobody liked the really soft texture, but! pork doesn't tend to go as soft as beef when canning, so maybe pork would work better, I might have to try it. I just don't always have the cash to buy extra meat to try these things as well as the standard eating.
@@fonk_sr I cannot imagine weather that cold, I've never even seen snow lol, the coldest we get is about -8 which google tells me is about 17f, and its only for a few hours, once the sun comes up the temp starts rising rapidly.
You look like you have dropped some weight . My hubby is going to give that diet a try. I will try it with him and we will see how it goes. I am like you I can’t repeat the same meals. TFS!!❤❤
A question I have thought of nyssa - what do you do re rubbish removal? We have a larger skip bin that is collected every few weeks at our property. Just curious!
There are community skip bins about 15 mins down the road and a rubbish tip about 45 mins, so whenever D goes to town he takes our everyday rubbish bags with him to the skip bins and then about once a month we fill the trailer with any big stuff that is not suitable for the skip bins. We try very hard to not have any food in our rubbish between all the animals and compost etc!
Another great video Nyssa, I was wondering do you have a new tattoo?? & did you weigh yourself at mums ? I made your baked risotto, was very good beats standing adding the stock and stirring... Have a great couple of days ahead... 😊
no new tattoos, D and I have a few we'd like to get but since the move and life etc, no spare money for them unfortunately! I did but was up 2kg from the previous weight, so no idea! The baked risotto is so close to being as good as a stovetop one it beats the effort hehe.
Oh ok, yes get that they are expensive.. I love them. Unfortunately, I had one and bled like a blooming pig, so I'm not allowed to have anymore.. I look at what your eating and I would love love the meat cheese etc.but miss my salads & vegetables.. ok blame mums scales... 😅
@ definitely miss the veg and salads but we don’t get them much at the ends of each month anyway, but I would like to get some salad greens growing continuously
I think honestly, another vlog well done. I must say though that the comments about your weight are a little triggering, and I honestly don't know how you are coping with them, hat off to you. I have always thought you looked good and healthy so I hope you are feeling it. 😊
Meh, I keep on saying its not to do with weight the new eating plan (not for me anyway) but its everyones focus, I'm overweight and all overweight people should want to be thinner lol, its just the way it is, meh.
We tend to take December up to about new years off as 'summer holidays' The school holidays here are from just before Xmas to mid/late January, but I find it more helpful for us to have December off school :) So they are back now.
Dear Nyssa, My daughter expressed that she is interested in a TM, what code would she use to give you the referral so you can have the credit. cheers, I used to have one, but can't really justify another one atm. Thank you
Hi Susie, she can use my link to purchase, which will assign it to me, but I'm happy to chat to her as well if she wants! send me an email or on instagram or facebook for realtime. bit.ly/3Q0F4GV It's a good deal atm though, a free extra bowl and a Gift card for the The Mix shop! :)
I definitely will, he's been adding some exercise in so he's feeling good so far! :D. I need to figure out for the next shopping etc too, so its all top of th emind kinda thing.
Also, you don't look run down to me AT ALL!! ❤❤ Maybe hot from the 340958340 degree weather! Also, look how your top necklace is dropping down now and not a choker!! Losing weight that is how I can tell it from that necklace!
@ right! I can tell by how low her necklace is hanging I used to wonder how she could stand it so tight I would go mad lol and now it hangs a bit and not tight big notice!
I can tell your face and neck looks thinner. Keep up the good work and I found out it does not help to get discouraged. I have been trying for about 4 months and I cannot get passed the 22 lbs I have lost. But Ill get there and you will too. You truly look great.
It's definitely different, but most people seem to like it that way and it definitely reduces the time required for me to get these out, hopefully I can get the process better and clearer the more I do it and can picture what is going ot be showing on the videos!
I didn't comment on the last video but I wanted to address that someone said you don't "deserve" parchment paper because you use food banks. What a load of $h!t!! I can't believe how stupid people can be. Sorry you have to shift through the idiots to read the positive comments from your true fans. Now on to this video - I love this format. I love hearing and seeing you make something at the same time. Your rolls look awesome. I'm going to try your brioche dough recipe. Every week I make your baguette recipe. We use them for a pesto, fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers sandwich I stick under the broil to melt the cheese. Did you weigh at your mom's house this last trip? I know you said that you were debating if you'd continue. TBH I have done keto / ketovore / carnivore as a solo person and now with my husband. It is hard to cook "separate meals" and I want to praise you for supporting Darryl! You're amazing and lovely! Thank you for all you do! Xoxox 2025 is going to be spectacular.
I did, and I was up 2kg from the previous weigh in lol, but meh, I'm not doing it for weight loss, I had hoped to try and reduce some of the inflammation/chronic pain and so far it hasn't done what I needed it to do there either, so I'll see how I go, I might continue on the 'lower carb' rather than keto, and be mindful, share meals with D most of th etime, but I might add in a small serve of rice or pasta or sourdough or something, to keep my brain happy lol. The kids love the baguettes too, I made them quite a few times over the christmas period I wasn't filming, and even made them small individual sized ones too hehe!
@@OurSmallFootprint LOL I saw one of your videos where you made them half sized baguettes. The first time I made full size. From then on, I made the half size and the family gets the illusion of 2 sandwiches versus 1 lol 😂 oh the tricks we play as Moms !!
@@OurSmallFootprint They usually only tape toes together or strap them at the ER. Maybe tape it to the toe next to it as it will support it while it heals. Ouch 😬

It was so very tasty!
That was good I loved it
❤
Steak, shrimp and risotto looked delicious along with the rest of the meal. Val C
You definitely have lost weight Nysa!! Looking great!!
yum❤❤❤
I do extra so my son has left over for lunch for wk he loves it as he hates sandwiches I hadly did sandwiches when they were at school from grade 2 it was left overs and they enjoy it
My kids are super keen on leftovers! they will eat them for breakfast/lunch the next day happily lol, I dunno why I have such an aversion to them.
Hi Nyssa
I love this format!
We rarely have leftover mash lol, but yes! any sort of fritters made with leftover mashed potato are well received!
@@OurSmallFootprint haha. Yeah, I don't usually either...but I did this particular day. I admire the prep you go through to eat carnivore. Does all that meat and cheese make you feel sick at all? I thought my type 1 diabetic husband might do well eating that way
@@kateymateymusic1 no, if anything it just makes you eat smaller portions because it’s more filling
I really like this video and the new camera angle . I think you look beautiful and I can tell you have lost weight . Your children are so cute to me , and helping you serve their plates
You look like you actually losing weight good on ya. I just made curry prawns for my husband. It’s his favourite meal.
Can tell you have lost weight , well done🎉🎉🎉
Nyssa you’re looking really good. Your face is a lot thinner!! 🥰
I saw someone can cooked sausage patties and I thought that was pretty cool instead of freezing them
I've seen it done too, but I did try canning meatballs once and nobody liked the really soft texture, but! pork doesn't tend to go as soft as beef when canning, so maybe pork would work better, I might have to try it. I just don't always have the cash to buy extra meat to try these things as well as the standard eating.
We’re gonna have high temps of around 2°F the next 3-4 days, and I’d still rather be here than in that heat y’all have. 😂
hehe, forecast is 41 over the end of the week (celcius) urgh... gonna die!
@@OurSmallFootprintthe windchill brings the temp down to around -20F, and I’d still rather have that; the wood stove is working overtime!
TFS!!❤❤
Hi Nessa
Morning! :D
@ makes sense! I love watching! X
I don’t like leftovers either😂
I think honestly, another vlog well done. I must say though that the comments about your weight are a little triggering, and I honestly don't know how you are coping with them, hat off to you. I have always thought you looked good and healthy so I hope you are feeling it. 😊
Meh, I keep on saying its not to do with weight the new eating plan (not for me anyway) but its everyones focus, I'm overweight and all overweight people should want to be thinner lol, its just the way it is, meh.
I had to rewind to see the cat
Hehe, she always hangs around at my feet when there's raw meat especially! She knows she's not allowed on benches etc though!
?? Nyssa I know it’s summer there, are the kids out of school for summer? I know you homeschool and was curious. Love the video Cindi
We tend to take December up to about new years off as 'summer holidays' The school holidays here are from just before Xmas to mid/late January, but I find it more helpful for us to have December off school :) So they are back now.
A.azing recipes.
@ 5:23 "so I need to get the kids in the oven" Not a good idea lol.
hehe, no matter how tempting!

It's a good deal atm though, a free extra bowl and a Gift card for the The Mix shop! :)
I am with you on left overs, not a fan at all!
I'm happy to bulk make meat and then turn that into a variety of meals, but the exact same meal, meh.... heh
Could you let us know how you and Daryl are going with your diet, maybe Daryl's side view again
The scales haven't changed lol, I did check when I went to mums again, its actually up a couple of kg from last time, but who knows! :D
@ Well they say sometimes pounds don't show but inches do but you can see a change out here for sure! Your face is slimmer!
@@OurSmallFootprintthe scales don’t always show right. I went down 3 clothes sizes before the scale went down.
Wow you suit purple and black what is your web page and we’re
oursmallfootprint.com :)
Hmm, not so sure about the talking while doing. Taking me a bit of time to get used to it
It's definitely different, but most people seem to like it that way and it definitely reduces the time required for me to get these out, hopefully I can get the process better and clearer the more I do it and can picture what is going ot be showing on the videos!
@ heh, yop!
Are you well you are looking a wee bit run down. Please look after yourself as well as the family.
6.30am :D Only just got up! :D. But my eyes are playing up and I broke my little toe yesterday I think :S
Hope your foot is ok.
@ Is very purple lol, but its not too bad, I can still walk on it, just no shoes, lucky I don't go anywhere!
@@OurSmallFootprint take care.
@@OurSmallFootprint They usually only tape toes together or strap them at the ER. Maybe tape it to the toe next to it as it will support it while it heals. Ouch 😬
Girl could you work any harder? I know how hard it can be to make all the meals from scratch and filming on top of that. I’m exhausted watching you.
Great video
