First fella asking really weird questions. He's there on merit and more than capable of starting. We don't have a capable 6 other than Wharton. Rice isn't a 6. Bellingham isn't a 6. He is, and he's a bloody good 6, nevermind being 20.
Wharton is quality but Rice is a quality 6 as well. Just because he can play as an 8 and Arteta likes him there doesn’t mean he doesn’t like him as a 6. Rice was fantastic as the 6 for Arsenal this past season and probably better there than as an 8.
@@vicsdunleavy21 I disagree. West Ham were better when Moyes stopped trying to shoehorn him in as a 6 and played him a bit higher up. He would drift out of position too much and leave his very slow CBs quite exposed. You could tell he wanted to get on the ball and be further up the pitch. Palinha is a real 6. Or Rodri, Norgaard, Alvarez. They're players always in the right position to help dictate play, they have insane work rates, always around the top of the interceptions/tackles leaderboards and arguably the most important players for their respective teams
@@mrwabbit9576 Well maybe at West Ham (I don’t watch them often) but he did very well as the 6 for Arsenal. Again I just think a lot of people are drawing up a false narrative about him being a poor 6 because Arteta simply likes his skill set as an 8 more. But if you’re speaking on your West Ham knowledge fairs. At Arsenal he did well as the 6 though in every game except Porto away
@@vicsdunleavy21 arsenal don't really play an out-and-out 6 very often so I wouldn't say you can really use his time at arsenal as an example. When they do use one, they tend to choose Partey over rice who plays wide of him because he's more defensively responsible. Not to say rice isn't quality, but he's certainly not a no.6.
@@mrwabbit9576you think Norgaard and Alvarez are better 6s than Rice? Rice has more clean sheets, more interceptions, more tackles, more successful tackles, more aerial battles won, more goals, more assists and less yellow cards - he CLEARS Alvarez in almost every metric both attack and in defence
England is sure to win! Just like the previous tournament And the one before that… And the one before that… And the one before that… And the one before that…
We’ll be lucky to make it out of the group, so much talent in lots of other teams and a clueless manager. By picking 4 Palace players looks like Southgate’s doing his team one last final favour before he packs it all in. Tournament definitely has Euro ‘88 vibes for England.
All this unbelievable talent means nothing because England has a inept manager who doesnt know any tactics and is safe and cautious. Sack that coward now and bring a competent manager in
6 months ago he was in the Championship, now he's in the England senior Euro squad. Mental.
Was good enough 6 months ago at Blackburn
AND HE SHOULD PLAY!!!!!
That knob at the end calling him a loner.
Absolute gem i love Wharton. Well deserved call up 100%
I hope he does what zaha did and doesn't leave in 2 seasons
Great buy and an amazing player who will only get better and better
@@Cristobal_2012 Yes but with a lucrative sell on value
I really want Wharton to be in the first team. He's top class.
I'm telling you now, this kid will be an absolute superstar and the biggest clubs will ALL be clammering for him.

Surprised FA putting young new player on the stage for so long to answer questions. He did well.
Happy for the lad, well deserved!
Is it just me or he looks and sounds like young Becks😂
Just proves hard work pays off. And also shows you can make your way through the lower leagues and still be at the top.
How has he gone so under the radar? He is an ABSOLUTE GEM OF A PLAYER!!
He hasn’t / I’m a Blackburn fan - we have know how good he is for years 😂
No tattoos. Humble. Straight forward. Just what the doctor ordered.
Proper player with the right attitude
You would never see him throwing his hands up and giving the ball away 10 + times like mainoo
@thomaskenny9253 yeah he doesn't waste a pass
Fair play to him, been quality for Palace. Seems really level headed as well.
Lads a BALLER
So proud to be Palace fan
Me to. Me to. What a season we are going to have🎉
If you’re picking a squad on form, he had to be there. Great to see Southgate being braver with his selection. It’s coming home!!!!
Let him start Southgate ffs, he can win us the tournament with his passing!
And his tackling don't forget

He looks like a young David beckham.
Even as a Burnley fan I can't dislike him.....

What a player

Man Utd should be buying this guy.
Why would you want his career to go backwards?
@@christianwithers7335Exactly. He will ruin his career if he goes there.
don't talk rubbish
You keep away from him, you lot have destroyed enough careers🤣🤣
Why would he go to a lesser team than Crystal Palace?
Wharton should start on left with Bellingham and Rice esp being left footed
He doesn’t want you to go, he says too soon for him

Gomez should start at left back over crappy trippier
