Scripture Passage: 2 Corinthians 10:3-5
Whether we realize it or not, there is a battle raging in our minds at every moment: spiritual warfare between light and darkness, good and evil, Jesus Christ and Satan. We cannot afford to be ignorant, and we cannot possibly be neutral.
2 Corinthians 10 shares encouragement for us in this battle for our minds.
First, this passage warns us of the warfare of our foe.
There is a deadly array of demons dedicated to the destruction of our thought lives. They are under the authority of the prince of darkness-the devil. He wants our minds, because it is through the mind that God communicates, changes, and controls us. When we’re saved, we receive the mind of Christ, and use our minds in different capacities than we once did. The devil wants to corrupt our minds so we fall out of fellowship with Christ.
Second, this passage addresses the weakness of our flesh.
“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh” (2 Corinthians 10:3).
The spiritual battle is not in the flesh, but our flesh can be a point of weakness in our fight. We do not have what it takes to overcome on our own.
This passage also reminds us of the weapons of our fight.
“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ…” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).
One of our weapons is the sovereignty of God, who is our Commander-in-Chief in this fight.
We also have the authority of our commission, as 2 Corinthians 10:8 says: “For even if I should boast somewhat more about our authority, which the Lord gave us for edification and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed…”
Finally, remember, we have our certain courage.
Jesus Christ has already won the war. We win the battle each and every day by guarding our minds with all diligence (See Proverbs 4:23.).
Apply it to your life
Adrian Rogers says, “Center your mind upon Jesus. Don’t let the devil take away your pure-hearted devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ. Stay in love with Him and there won’t be any room for those filthy, wicked, lustful, prideful thoughts that bombard us all.”

The battlefield of the mind was spoken on by Paul in the book of romans. He talks about being not conformed to this world but being transformed by the renewing of the mind. As long as you live you will war in your mind. Every time thoughts come that is not of God you have to take it captive. Watch what you take in your eyes, ears and heart.

Adrian Rogers was a great preacher and as far as I know he was a very good man.
I never heard of any scandals about him. He was real about his faith, what a great witness that he came from Palm Springs Florida probably from pretty well to do family. He choose to answer God’s calling of ministries instead of what he could have done.
I imagine God is blessing him big time in heaven. There are probably people be coming up to him for years and years telling him they were saved on behalf of him being obedient.
He is still great message and right on time.
Actually he came from DeLand Florida, a humble place indeed. I don’t know whether his family background was well to do and I don’t find that relevant. However, he died with a net worth of considerable wealth:
$ 78 million. Imho - It is erroneous to equate great wealth or being well to do with an anointing by the Holy Spirit or any indication of real service to God through Christ Jesus. One may amass no net worth and yet serve God or not; as well as one may have a huge net worth and still serve God, though I surmise that would be more difficult! Amen.

Adrian Rogers is definitely my favorite Preacher/Teacher of all time that I’ve ever personally heard. I hope God blesses all of you reading this. I’m thankful for what Jesus Christ did for us all. I miss Mr. Adrian Rogers. He is one of my favorite preachers/teachers if not my most favorite. His passion and mannerisms are such as speak straight to your heart making you want to be the best you can be and serve God to the fullest.

Not in your strength will you overcome your struggles but just trusting Him who is able to bring you through each moment of the day. He will take care of your son as you abide in the Lord. It's trusting in Him. Read the word, pray and pray to believe. This walk is not about how you feel today or what you see, but it is by faith. Develop a solid prayer life and bible reading so you will grow. As you grow spiritually you will experience change. Find a good church where you can grow. God bless you.

@@Jason-cn5vo when we truly repent of our sins and make a commitment to forsake all for Christ, there is no way we will continue to be the same. We all need the spiritual food which is the word of God by daily reading to feed the soul. The change in us takes place when we read it and apply it. Take a cut, for instance, I tell you to place a bandaid on it, you received the instruction, in fact, you read what the label on the carton of bandaids says, but you didn't cover the cut with the bandaid and now the cut gets worse. So we hear the word or read the word but do not adhere to what it says. So we go around and around in circles. In order to change we have to say no to many things that have been in our lives like excess baggage. Place your care on the Lord, He will not turn you down. Read Proverbs chapter 4. In fact, every day read a chapter in the book of Proverbs, and to know Jesus, the book of John, which is after Luke.
I ask that God helps your journey to be closer to Him, so that your son can see the goodness of God through you. In Jesus name.

I did not Know hoy to addressed this situation. I had prayed for her for years brother an no resulta at all. So a mature brother encouraged me to addressed my Mother not as her son, but, as a Minister of all Mighty God.
I did. I informed my Mother of her sin and the abomination she was practicing worshipping idols.
God saved her. She loves the Lord. She loves reading and studying God's word.

The "Mind" and "Spirit" are synonymous in the Scriptures. The battlefield is the Mind because all things start in the supernatural mind first and then manifest in the natural second. Before you ever physically get up to go mow the yard, fix the window, build the shed, etc, you first had to "think" it in the supernatural Mind. After it becomes a thought it's formed into an Idea and then it's expressed into Physical reality with our actions. Mind, Idea, and Expression... ❤️

We rid the power of evil spirits that feed off us like parasites. Cut off the source of the sin, and the parasites have no food. Easier said than done! It’s a start. Jesus said there are different types of evil spirits. Some require us to fast. I think His teachings were not just for food fasting, but what we listen to and consume with our eyes.

The incredible thing about this battle for our mind is that God the Father permits the war to wage.
Someone said this: “If God takes you to it, He is prepared to take you through it.”
Abraham was tested. His faith was such that he said, “God will provide.”
Look up the chorus: “God Will Make a Way, Where There Seems to be no Way”
I know we are body, soul and spirit and our soul and spirit live forever and our soul and spirit is who we are because that's the part of who we are that lives forever and is housed in this body. I think we as souls and spirits live or are located and housed in this body in the brain. That's our CPU. I think when demons or fallen angels come to attack us and oppress us and we feel it and it drives us to our knees, I think it's that evil spirit that seidels up to our spirit like a bully where we are in our minds or brains where we live. It's not a possession but a temporary, psychological, spiritual, painful oppression and it's an attack where we live in our mind. That's my theory as I try to understand this real battle.

he still hasn't told how to win the battle, he says what not to do, but not what we need to do to win the battle.
Dr Rogers wrapped up with application but personally I am currently in a very intense battle. To combat …I have memorized Scripture (in fact including the very verses studied in this sermon!) I find replacing what is rolling in my mind with HIS WORD has helped me tremendously to bring “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (NKJV)
Also recognizing and calling upon the indwelling Holy Spirit and appropriating HIS POWER has also been helpful in overcoming.
One sermon alone is not gonna cover all we need…it is a day by day battle of recognizing our weakness, knowing we cannot do it without His divine power, and “purposing in our heart” to resist temptation.
(Good sermon from Dr Rogers on that…#2025 on Luke 4:1-12 on “How to Handle Temptation”)
