I climbed Mt. Si last year. I opted not to attempt the haystack climb. I felt it just was not worth the risk. Even without going up the haystack, the views from the mountain are still incredible.
I appreciate this video being posted but it was hard to watch. My brother climbed haystack 10 years ago this August and fell to his death on his decent. I am just bringing myself to watch videos to see what it was like. The day he went was foggy and drizzly which made it very slick.
Lisa Quam hey thanks for sharing your story, sorry to hear about your loss, the haystack is very sketchy when wet and besides the best part is the view it should only be done on clear days!!!
I attempted the haystack today after going back and forth with myself about it after the long hike up. I've never bouldered in my life. I made it about a third of the way up and started panicking about how would I get down. I ended up having to turn around. I had pretty stiff hiking shoes and was wondering it rock climbing or bouldering shoes would be recommended for something like this. I didn't feel comfortable with what I had on.
I was thinking of doing this yest. but did the whole loop & Mt. Teneriffe with just enough daylight. Next time maybe but idk not into technical climbs & this looks pretty scary, cool vid!
Ok. I was in the right spot. I had to turn around because I wasn't sure I was on the route and I had my dogs with me. Thanks for sharing.

I attempted it and only made it 1/3 of the way before I started panicking and freezing up. I ended up turning around and barely made it down safely.

Went up the haystack yesterday. Although exciting, I will not be going back up there EVER! One misstep is enough to kill me.
