Love these! I grew up powersliding cars this size, love to watch them wick it out on the turns!
I miss Oldsmobile!
Reminds me of Saturday afternoon TV way back when.
Bud is like…it’s an Omeeega. A Nova with a Slosmobile badge.
Oldsmobile's flavor of the Nova.
My mother had a midnight blue ‘75 Omega with a white interior. It was a very nice car.
The 5.7 V8 was the best engine, the L6 barely made it move.
They did very well with a six. I owned one from new. Did just fine. Hell, my parents bought a Chevrolet Bel Air new with a six. 250 cu. in. And even with us kids and groceries in the trunk it went up hills just fine. I thought it would be awful when they came home with it from the dealer. But it served us well. Of course, we were not looking for a damn race car just practical transportation.
Olds Omega, Pontiac Ventura, Buick Skylark, Chevrolet Nova. All divisions had a version of this car. Never heard anyone pronounce Omega the way he does by the way.
for a 350 powered compact I was expecting greater acceleration and performance but I blame it on the regulations they were putting on the vehicles that year, I wonder how good the acceleration would've been if they released the Omega in 1971 or 1972?
3450 lbs is far from a compact, lol. I didn’t think they weighed that much, though😳
@Doobie1975 yet the 1974 Plymouth Duster 360 was a 15 second car out of the box; go figure
You have to remember this was when they got serious about emissions and in 1974, they were in the early stages of development for smog controls. And they really hurt performance.
@scrambler69-xk3kv depended on the manufscturer; Mopar offered the 440 Magnum in the Coronet/Satellite 4 door sedans and allegedly they'd run high 14s in the quarter, which would put fear into the hearts of most 1960s muscle cars
The 70’s were so sad… 5.7 liter 4hrs carb 0-70 in 16 seconds 😬
1/4 mile in 18 seconds ... 😂😂😂 gimme a minute 😂😂😂😂😂 oh wait, 1/4 in 60 seconds is the 75' model 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The soundtrack
Thats what the announcer said playfully. We all know it's an Oldsmobile Omega.
His pronunciation of the model name is hilarious.
What the hell is an "Omeega???"
Didn't they teach the Greek alphabet in school back then? I guess not. And clearly he didn't belong to a fraternity with Ω in its name.
I drove a friend's 1973 Omega 350; i wasn't impressed, a box stock same Dodge Dart 318 would probably said Olds.
Mmmmmmmalaise
The rocket 350 is no rocket contrary to what people may think.
A 70 cutlass 350 310 HP was low 15s. The 325 horse 350 rocket was mid 14s.
An upscale Nova with an Oldsmobile Rocket 350 engine? Nice!
