    Most people that run from a fight just don't want to waste time on a fight that just isn't profitable to them. On top of that, flight is a valid pvp strategy. Rule #1 of combat is to fight on your own terms. If it's not to your advantage you're better off fleeing. The players might not think combat is going to be fair if they're experiencing lag issues.
    Alliances can be fun. The trick is to learn the difference between an alliance for tracking purposes, an uneasy alliance, and a strong alliance. I've run into all of them. By refusing to alliance you miss out on about half the game. It's a shame that you refuse to alloance at all and are telling everyone not to alliance.

      I just run if alone or if I have loot aboard. I did encounter a Reaper 1 galleon but they roleplayed as cops. I didn't run and just played along then and man it was a laugh for everyone involved. They did pick my loot up to raise their grade but no shots fired off at all which was awesome. While I was heading out I ran into a rock and one of the people on the galleon said "Ah I knew we should've booked him for drunk driving!" I just loved that and my heart goes out to those people

  • @benjamin1313

    For rule number 1 I would say running away is valid it's the attacking ships choice to follow or not.
    And tbh i think a chase can be pretty fun.
    I hourglass pvp though. Rule 1 should apply. I am not very good at pvp and loses a lot. But winning by someone just giving up the fight from the beginning is boring.

  • @CL3NRcProductions
    @CL3NRcProductions ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The only time i find it acceptable to sink new players is if you match up with them in hourglass. Quite often, I'd get matched up with a diaper boat in hourglass, and they'll either drive themselves out of bounds or shoot a white flare. Im sorry, but if you willingly opt in for something that literally says "battle for the sea of thieves," you should know what you're getting yourself into

    For alliances I've had pretty good luck with those. I made a server alliance and everyone in the alliance got a 50% cut of what other crews sold the crew selling getting 100% value so alliances are so worth it when going with the right people. Just be wary and shoot off white flares in Adventure mode and wait on response. Figure out intentions first then act. They could literally be a person or people wanting to legitimately help and sinking them before knowing intentions just drives those kind of people away killing Sea of Thieves anyway by forcing players who want to help others off the game

  • @darknessmohag6181
    @darknessmohag6181 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    now I have an question about rule 5.. How do you know someone is an new player?
    People can go default non captain ships and have the basic clothing even if they have 500+ hours in the game.. So without fighting them you won't know anything.
    And if you chance going close range fight you might end up sinking as they may be sweats who will kill you then sink your ship because the game gave you an blackscreen.. There is no real way to tell if an default ship is an new player or not.. that is impossible, especially if we add in the rule about never trusting pirates.. if you follow that rule, You got to attack them first before they are aware of you and need to sink them.. because you can't talk to them, because you can't trust them.. they could lie to you and say they are new, and then just destroy you..
    So Rule 5.. is one rule that is pretty much impossible to follow.
    EDIT: Also Rule 8 also adds to Rule 5 being impossible to follow.. So yea rule 5 is just basically Impossible to follow as there is no way to tell who is new or not without Fighting them or trying to sink them.

    • @ianbelletti6241
      @ianbelletti6241 ปีที่แล้ว

      It takes investigation. If they're treasure hunting without an emissary and they think their one castaway chest is so much loot that they have to sell it right away you're probably dealing with a new player. It's all in how they behave. It's tough for an experienced player to keep up all the dumb stuff that a noob does. If they look new investigate. If their on high alert or show other signs of being experienced then they are not new. If you don't want to waste your time on fights for no treasure then your sending someone over to investigate anyway. It doesn't necessarily take combat to tell.

    Love rule number 9! I cannot count the amount of times Ive destroyed double gunners over and over with a sword, only for them to make fun of me for using a sword... despite them being the one losing. I have nothing against double gunning even though i dont like to do it myself, why do many sweats hate the sword!!
    I also dont entirely agree with rule number 1, been playing for years now, got the skeli curse recently, I can say one of the fun parts of sea of thieves open world is finding ways to evade capture. Of course this only applies when you have an extreme amount of loot which makes it more fun. On the other hand I have spent hours chasing ships for nothing... so its a mixed bag.

      @ianbelletti6241 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Snook_subthe absolutely not ever trusting pirates skips a lot of the interactions that you could have. I'm sorry that you're so syndical about alliances. I've had a wide variety of alliances from the very shaky to the ones where everyone has the same goal and they're enjoying working together. The trick is to learn how to gauge which ones are going to betray you because that can allow a reversal. I've even gone for a fort before and told the other crew that they can alliance but the fort is ours and we're not letting them stay there. One of the most fun times I had was doing FOTD with 4 ships in the alliance doing it for 12 hrs straight. We all worked together to turn the treasure in because we were all event achievement hunting. We even had someone from each crew on our galleon patrolling the waters and supplying us with ritual skulls. I really don’t think half of these are good rules. For starters run if you want I mean it’s annoying, but people can do whatever they want. Unless your Reapers as Reapers are a PvP faction so just delete the game if your running reapers.
    To say alliances are never trustworthy is a false statement. Be weary yes, but if someone is actually trying to just be chill you could ruin their day by just going ahead and sinking them. If someone is trying to betray you it’s likely they aren’t confident in their pvp skills meaning that the right coordination can counteract their betrayal.
    I do avoid sinking new players, but to never sink them is also kinda dumb. If someone new is sunk that doesn’t mean they’ll quit and in fact with the right encouragement you can make a new player strive for the level you yourself achieve.
    Never be toxic is the Number One best rule for SOT, but it’s the least followed. Not only can extreme toxicity lead to a ban, but it’s what actually turns new players away. I mean I would have quit by now if it wasn’t for the fact I surprisingly rarely encounter homophobic racists who shout slurs. I mean I definitely run into tons of toxic players, but yeah. Don’t be that one guy is is cracked at hand to hand combat, but can’t hit cannons for shit and then trash talk when you win because you spawn camped for 8 minutes while your team struggled to hit shots. I had two times this happened one on brig where they spawn camped for like 12 minutes (bannable time btw) and then we broke it and sank them. We got matched again and they learned their lesson and just went for the sink. The second time was a full tdmer who was trashing me in hand to hand, but sank because he ignored his ship and didn’t repair. Literally start shit talking after losing as well btw.
