Section ONE of the 13th Amendment is VERY INTERESTING; it states that no one can be enslaved or under INVOLUNTARY servitude EXCEPT if they are convicted of a crime. In other words - SLAVERY STILL EXISTS FOR THOSE WHO ARE CONVICTED OF CRIMES. Thus, the Prison Industrial Complex now exists!

Is that why the percentage of incarcerated Americans doubled in the span of a decade? Is that why even though the US has 5% of the world's population, it's home to 25% of the world's prison population?

The 13th amendment needs to be amended to stop slavery altogether. Our prison systems, and bad law enforcement would dramatically shrink. Prisoners are a commodity. This will start prison reform for the US

it’s sad to me as a caucasian; an amendment was needed so we had to give all humans the right to be free, to vote, and to be recognized as important as the white person. The fact our european ancestors couldn’t see that and often still doesn’t see it is horrific to me.

Mississippi didn't ratify the 13th amendment until 2013. Check it out. My state finally voted to ratify the 13th amendment in 1995 but we failed to make it official by notifying the U.S. Archivist. We did that in January of 2013. This snafu was discovered when someone was inspired to do some research after watching the movie "Lincoln".

Abraham Lincoln Determined that there was no one Nation standing in 2 States, one being Pro-Slavery in the southern region and the other in the northern part being Free or Anti-Slavery, so Lincoln Determined to Abolish Slavery and Unite the Southern States of the United States into the Federal United States even though it was passed by Civil War, where 7 southern states of the United States seceded from the Lincoln government, for which Lincoln initiated the Emancipation Proclamation by establishing Article 13 of the Constitution, an amendment to the United States Constitution as a strong legal basis aimed at abolishing slavery in all southern states. United States, Saving the Union and Reconstructing the southern region of the United States from an Economic system that relied on Slaves changed to Industry, Lincoln's intention was that these Slaves be given work with decent wages and are needed as United States Citizens who are equal before the law and protected civil rights. In my opinion, the policies implemented by President Lincoln were great, and they became a valuable legacy for the United States to be passed on to the next generation.

  • @PDPresents
    @PDPresents 10 ปีที่แล้ว +63

Have you not actually READ the 13th amendment? No really. You just said "Slavery is nowhere mentioned legalized"
That is INCORRECT. At least 60% of all state constitutions have an exception clause duplicating that of the federal constitution which clearly states "Slavery is abolished ----Except for prisoners duly convicted"
The same year it was put into the constitution the first federal prison in SC started a convict leasing system using Black Codes laws to mass incarcerate former slaves and then lease them right back to mining companies, railroads and even their former slave owners plantations.
Now if that isn't a legalization of a slave trade through the justice system then wtf is? The largest for profit prison population in the history of the world today and it uses THAT EXCEPTION CLAUSE every day to codify their slave trade.
Go back to the drawing board and stop misleading people until YOU know what you're talking about.
Lawd jesus you just SHOWED IT verbatim and simply ignored that big ass exception clause like it wasn't even there.

Before stating Lincoln freed all slaves, you better read the Emancipation Proclamation. Lincoln did NOT, repeat, NOT free all slaves. Maryland, Delaware, Missouri & Kentucky were allowed to keep their slaves. Only States in conflict with the US Govt were declared emancipated.
Also, Lincoln, in his First Inaugural speech stated, "I have no purpose directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the United States where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so, and I have no inclination to do so".

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
    Section 2.
Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.
It's been well est. that the United States is a corporation that your states and local municipalities are corporations I think there's only one town in the United States that's not incorporated.
If one did not want to serve these corporations. After all, you're not operating as a country, but as a corporation looking out for only corporate interest above the well-being and interest of the people.
Being forced to stay in these corporations isn't that involuntary servitude?

Is it possible to lower volume on music in between sentences, like at minute 1:06? that loud da, da, da, da, da sound while studying late night, the volume of those sounds is twice as loud as the voice and it wakes up other people in the house. at least make it the same volume as the voice? i have to rush and turn volume down but people still wake up. it is like a shocking sound in between your segments or segments of thoughts. also, the voice volume for narrator doesn't sound correct, it sounds muffled and in the background and yet it is the foreground voice. thank you for your consideration.

It could happen? Would be an interesting eye opening experience that will make you turn off script reading bobble heads, and form your beliefs on facts you actually researched. Or regurgitate this crap. Do both, then you would actually be learning something instead of being told, attempting to memorize, then puking it out on test day. That's brainwashing. Article XIII was the Title of Nobilities Act. The "slavery" or end of slavery would have been Article XIV, but that would not be part of the original Constitution. This is not to contradict or discredit Keith Hughes. This is to broaden the subject matter to there real history of the document. Keith does a very good job presenting his message.
    th-cam.com/video/okGfAlIxROI/w-d-xo.html
Here is the real Article XIII, part of what caused the War of 1812:
"If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive, or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall without the consent of Congress, accept and retain any present, pension, office, or emolument of any kind whatever, from any Emperor, King, Prince, or foreign Power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States, and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them."

Slavery NEVER left people. SLAVERY WENT FROM THE PLANTATION to the PRISONS ! THAT SIMPLE. That's why there are millions of laws for us to violate, which gives them the OPPORTUNITY FOR MORE SLAVES.ALL CRIMES are COMMERCIAL 27 CFR 72.11 meaning there is a value placed on CRIMES committed ,which means BONDS which have value are being exchanged.

More generally he is talkin about the Dark Legacy of European imperialism and the cruel institution of slavery. According to one book, about 100 million people were murdered during this. Of European imperialism in the 19th century and into the early 20th century.

So, if my civil rights are violated by a cop, I can own him as chattel? How do I petition the court for the application of the Thirteenth Amendment?
Let me be clear, as I was the party that was wronged, I should then have the support of this amendment to actually, on paper, own the son of a bitch that is being punished after he is convicted. How do I claim this right?

Honest Abe, that's the man In your history books. Now go look up the real honest Abe. He freed the blacks for one purpose and one purpose only black man power. Go look at the losses the union had compared to the south, He needed to replenish troops.

With Democrats pushing to abolish the thirteenth amendment, it's going to cause more problems later on down the road, such as work release, community service, Personally, I think if you destroy something then you should work to pay it off like we had to do as our punishment for breaking things when I was a kid.
