This is my daily commuter. Being in California, dealing with hills, traffic and my personal unlucky red-light catching voodoo magic... im glad I went with the Automatic. (Get manual if you're just trying to have fun though. You'll have more control over it.)
Literally just bought a 2021 R in same colorway. $40,000 out the door fully loaded. HotCars is correct you don't need an R. If you're in the market buy a used S. You will not be satisfied for $40k but will be COMPLETELY satisfied for $20k.
The only Michelin Pilot sport tire that comes close is the 315/35/20 Michelin pilot sport 4 and its around 537.89. Not a couple hundred bucks as you stated in your video. Now you can get a Michelin pilot sport zp-s for 412.55

Thank you for this video, it is very informative. I just bought a new Slingshot S after owning motorcycles since the 1960's. My wife has battled cancer eight times and between the csncer, the surgeries and the treatments she is now crippled and can no lonher get on a motorcycle. But she can fall into the Slingshot and I help her back out. My Slingshot is a five speed and the only upgrade I'm thinking of is to add a tailpipe along side the transmission to allow the noise to exit out the rear of the vehicle with a turn down at the rear. We can't hear each other while riding in our Slingshot because of the loudness of the exhaust. I think a tailpipe will cure that problem. It will still sound good, but the sound will exit in the the rear allowing us to talk to each other. I will not buy the after market exhaust kits because they eliminate the muffler. I am not out to make my Slingshot louder, it has a great exhaust note the way it is. I just want the noise out the rear so we can talk to each other.
You need to check into brake upgrades from other sources. Over $1000 per wheel for brakes is overpriced. Other sources have complete brake systems for about $200 a wheel. Not only does it brake better, but the brakes have a better feel. Most Slingshot only parts providers see Slingshot owners as owners who will spend any amount on accessories for their "baby". Usually the price is way higher than the equivalent for autos or cycles. Many are poor design and do little to improve on the stock components. A good example is headers. The ones I have seen have poor quality welds. The one I used, I had to "port on it for about 2 hours (fortunately I was able to do this}. The cold air intake used an air cleaner which hit the hood. I had to buy a K and N filter to replace it. The exhaust systems are a toss up. Unless you change the tuning, you will not improve rear wheel horsepower. If you are just buying for looks or a louder sound, you're good, but many are over $1000, and there just isn't a thousand bucks there. Again, buyer beware and shop around.
You are exactly right! By the time you add some basic stuff on there, like a top which is three grand and a few things added,you are looking at 45 to 50 grand! I think the top should be included and better wheels and seats. The motorcycle is all plastic! The 35 grand for the R doesn’t justify the money!
Whoever is charging you $35000 is ripping you off. I live in Ohio and there are at least five dealers within 100 miles that discount the Slingshot. If you are spending $50000 with upgrades, you are in the wrong vehicle. I sure wouldn't pay that for a vehicle with minimal bodywork, traction limited drivetrain, and many overpriced options. No matter how much horsepower you get from your Slingshot, it all goes thru one wheel. Once you get it spinning it is hard to stop the spinning momentum, often getting the average driver in trouble. It's just as fun stock and less wear and tear on the a hold!
I have the Pedal Commander in my 2021 Slingshot S w technology package 1, and it makes a big difference. I was going to get the engine stage 1 tune, but I completely changed my mind after getting the Pedal Commander.
1. there is NOT a turbo or supercharger option for your year slingshot or any model with the prostar engine (2020 and up). There will never be a supercharger option for the prostars. It's not possible. 2. There IS a 4-wheel upgrade kit
You do not need a helmet in California unless single driver using carpool. From what I understand. If you use it as a a motorcycle to carpool with only 1 person you need helmet. If you have 2 people carpool no helmet also, one person not in carpool no helmet.

P.S.- as of now there isn’t an aftermarket turbo or supercharger for the Prostar engine but there will be.
Turbo charger is possible. Supercharger is not with the make up of this engine
HotCars actually the Slingshot S also has Kenda tires, the only difference is the width on the S model is 255 in the rear, and 225 in the front.

The R comes with Brembo 4 piston brakes right? Isn’t that a huge brake upgrade/difference?

The pedal commander only changes pedal response, not power. The same can be achieved with your right foot (move it more quickly and further).
@@supercuda1950 there is factory lag in every machine, pressing the gas further will not fix this .. it removes that lag, do you own a 20 or 21?
