The only position on offense where the chiefs are better outside of QB is tight end. Even then, Dallas Goedert has been a top 5 TE this year. Mahomes is leading a better offense with worse players.
Even if you ignored all previous years I don’t understand how you can try and minimize just how valueable Mahomes is to KC after watching the Titans game. The run game absolutely didn’t work. He put the team on his back and willed the win. Look at all the big runs at the end that he made. The man converted a 3rd and 20 with his feet. The changed the culture narrative with Hurts is such a poor argument to put him over Mahomes. Sure KC was a regular playoff team before Mahomes, but does anybody remember that in all those years they won a total of one playoff game against a teams backup QB? The chiefs before Mahomes were a team that never won in the playoffs. Before Mahomes they’d won two total playoff games in my living life. They were always the playoff chokers. Mahomes takes over and they’re in the AFC title or SB every single year he’s started. He’s elevated a culture where you expected them to lose right away to now you expect them to be in at least the conference championship and even then guys like Skip talk about them underachieving. He’s elevated the team to the expectation that anything besides winning the SB is a failed season. That’s a bigger culture shirt than your team winning regular season games against non playoff opponents. Sure it’s tough to win in the NFL, but acting like what the eagles have done this year exceeds what Mahomes has built is insane. Before this year everybody said the offense was done without Tyreek. Mahomes has taken an entirely new receiving corps besides one carryover and kept the offense one of the best in the league. And the team opened up against almost entirely playoff teams from last year and were a couple of plays from starting undefeated. Mahomes has set such a high standard that his excellence just gets swiped away because it’s just expected at this point.

He makes his new playlers great. That quality leadership Mahomes has is more special than his arm talent and is needed more. You can have a great arm, but be bad with your teammates and not make them great. Mahomes has both.

Chiefs played an opening schedule of 8 playoff teams from last season in their first 8 and went 6-2 and were 1/2 plays away from going 8-0. I read somewhere the Chiefs had the hardest schedule of a returning playoff team in the history in the NFL I’m not just quoting that as a fan quoting that as somebody that can read about the history of the NFL!
That was a projection. Their schedule probably isn't any harder than most teams, especially since their division was considered a powerhouse before the season, yet they're one of the worst in the NFL.

I'm really happy to see Hurts thriving -- especially after Saban threw him in the trash -- but a lot of things changed in Philly beyond Hurts. He also got one of the top WRs in football, a Heisman winning WR drafted, and a budding TE developing into one of the best in the league.
You can make a very credible argument that KC got WORSE (as opposed to staying the same) this year and yet somehow they're still on pace to take the 1 or 2 seed in the AFC. All of that goes to Mahomes, who somehow is putting together yet another MVP season even without the best receiver in all of football.
