Top class commentary, I honestly didn't see this coming. Even Peter honestly didn't think he'd use those words in his commentary before the seeing leg started. And perhaps gone unnoticed Ter Stagen actually played well and kept Barca ahead for however long he could it was just meant to be
Watching this match live as a Roma fan was one of the best night I've ever had as a fan. The heart the team showed was incredible and the Olimpico I'm sure felt like hell for the Barcellona players, really hard to play there when we're pumped up like we were that night. But I have to say, it was an incredible joy to find out out about this commentary by Peter Drury. It's almost as if he had the same passion we all had as fans on one side, but he's actually non partisan in this one I'm sure. Which shows how he just loves the sport. That call "This was not meant to happen. This could not happen. This is happening" it's just incredible...and then that "PHENOMENAL!" when the games end, my god, feels like a honor to hear him say that. Like it truly placed us for a second among the greats of this sport, despite unfortunately never really getting quite that up there. Our city is big but our club never could grown beyond its economic limitations. The team we had that year was built through some great scouting and very smart acquisitions, but it's rare for us to have such a great team overall. To me, even with no trophy, that night will always be bigger even than victories such as the Conference of two years ago. We truly were not supposed to beat Barcellona that year. But as Peter Drury so wonderfully put it "Roma made it happen". What a night.
