Same here. Virtue signalling. Then later, he blames the Boomer generation for everything bad. Seriously? The generation that had the rug pulled out from under them by likes of Kissinger, Zbigniew Brzezinski, etc. in a decades managed decline? No wonder he lost this debate.

I have nothing against putting a black mam or woman on the US currency. I don’t want the founding fathers to be taken away, or any of the other “dead white men.”
I think it honors them to add great American contributors of color. However, does Africa have white men? Does Mexico have Europeans on their money?
Yet, it’s only the face baiting leftist that obsess over these kind of things.

You could say that gold in your possession cannot be taken from you, which is true, as long as you can defend it properly, but try boarding a plane and let me know how that works out for you. Yup...the true debate is Silver vs. Gold, and I prefer Silver. But other than that I agree with Schiff on everything. However, the one thing Gold has over Silver is that it never tarnishes even under the Ocean over thousands of years. So keep that in mind. But I still prefer Silver because it has so many uses. BUT...Gold is more monetarily stable because it has less industrial uses, and remains a Store of Value because it does have SOME uses as a Commodity.
In other words, Silver vs. Gold is the true debate. Bitcoin is irrelevant.

Ultimately, I think Anthony Scaramucci has a Western lens in understanding money which fails him. Different cultural lenses (mainly from the East) and history of money (history of gold/silver) makes the case for BTC weaker. The history and cultural universality value is definitely gold and maybe BTC. But, the tactile aspect of gold separates it from BTC. That tangible aspect of gold adds another layer of value. Having a digital currency backed by gold or a basket of strategic commodities is better than straight BTC, but but but..... digital means big brother can always watch= not cool
Also, all human knowledge doubles every 13 months. It is arrogant to think humans will not find a better crypto tech than BTC at some point.
Reality is.... it better for our freedom to have gold, BTC, anchored dollars, and as many exchange mediums as possible. Alternatives are good.

If gold has financial value, why isnt the continent of Asia the wealthiest to exist. Technically those nations possess the most gold in the world, yet ones like India have the most poverty and the least access to the global wealth. Gold isnt money, its an element that will be mostly used for industrial purposes in the near future. No need to hold gold, when it isnt fungible, because it can be counterfeited, it isnt divisible in real world use, because the average person cant break 1/10 ounce from their gold bar to purchase goods, it isnt easily transportable, because you cant send 1 mil in gold to purchase a, lets say a home, on the other side of the planet, by conventional means. Sure, silver, platinum, and other metals could substitute for gold, but they would not be nearly as effective. The world would be poorer without gold.

    One question I've been pondering..
If a metal was discovered that had better properties than gold and was much cheaper to mine, would gold lose any of its value? Or maybe the question should be, would it retain any value at all? Personally I think the answer to both would be yes, because a large part of it's value is based on tradition, global adoption as a currency and as a store of value. A very small part of its value is based on its actual industrial uses and properties. If gold was 500k an ounce would it still have any practical commercial use? I'm not sure it would.
I therefore think Anthony is right in his arguement about the Bitcoin network having a value in itself, even if there is no practical use. Or even if other cryptos come along that challenge it. Just like a Babe Ruth rookie card or a Van Gogh or a gold brick will theoretically always have at least some value beyond their tangible uses.

    • @VoidedTea
      @VoidedTea 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Wrong. If gold was not used as a metal in the economy, it’s value would be zero. Nobody would even mine gold if it wasn’t used by the industry. We mine gold as a raw material because we make things from it. Period. We store it as a raw material for the same reason - because we make things from it. Period. We were making things from it thousands years ago and will be making things from it thousands years from now. Its value comes from its unique properties (anti-corrosive, anti-magnetic, anti-bacterial just to name a few) and it’s scarcity (the entire gold reserves of the world can fit into an Olympic size swimming pool). Gold is not for making everybody rich, it is just a very valuable raw material which just happened to be very easy to store (relative to other raw materials). It’s price correlates with inflations, which is why it is called an inflation hedge. Imagine gold without any industrial use at all. It would make no sense to mine it. This is what Bitcoin is.

What on Earth are you talking about? Now that we have had an enormous global pandemic we can see how horrible Peter's major predictions has been all these years.
      1. Gold prices.
Gold barely went up but nowhere near the 10, 15, 20 thousand he predicted. th-cam.com/video/99fjdbFy3So/w-d-xo.html In fact, the price of everything has skyrocketed except gold. He lies and tells his clients that gold is both a safe haven and you will make a huge return on it. Every investor knows that high returns only come with high risk and high volatility. On March 3, 2020 He even said you would be able to buy the entire Dow with just one ounce of gold. That will NEVER happen.
      2. Silver prices.
Silver barely went up and nowhere near the new all time highs of $49.83 that he predicted. Here's Peter saying buy silver for the potential new highs way back on Oct 2, 2012: th-cam.com/video/uOuAdZcGzoo/w-d-xo.html Silver was $34.60 at the time.
      3. Gold standard.
He predicted that we will go back to a gold standard but that is not even being considered. He even said it was inevitable. th-cam.com/video/ajmIWQLRfFM/w-d-xo.html We now know that they are working on a CBDC and not even considering a gold standard.
      4. Stock market.
Nobody could be more wrong when it comes to the stock market. He has literally never been bullish on the stock market and it just keeps going up.
      5. Worthless crypto.
Another thing that he predicted that will NEVER happen is bitcoin going to near $0. Bitcoin is here to stay and the price is going much higher. He even thinks all cryptocurrencies are worthless but obviously we have a brand new asset class to invest in. How do you miss an entire new asset class? He is obviously lying to his clients because he knows that crypto is vastly superior to metals. That is just flat out fraudulent financial advice.
      6. Worthless dollar.
Another thing that he predicted that may never happen within the lifetime of his clients is the dollar becoming worthless. th-cam.com/video/6K9Jcar8VgY/w-d-xo.html That might happen but it will probably take decades and most of his clients will be dead before it happens. And if it does happen it won't be because people want gold. It will be because people want crypto instead of the dollar. And they won't be buying gold. They will be dumping gold and buying crypto.
      7. Interest rates.
He said they would never raise them. Then they did and Peter said they're going to be doing QE4 not raising rates again. th-cam.com/video/aYQUiLnYp9I/w-d-xo.html But of course Peter was wrong again and they kept raising them 8 more times.
      8. Another housing bubble.
He has been saying housing is in another bubble since at least May 2014. th-cam.com/video/hlkn5Ky5Z1Q/w-d-xo.html If you wanted to buy a home but listened to Peter and didn't buy, you'll never be able to get the home you wanted because home prices have skyrocketed and wages barely move up. You may even be stuck renting for the rest of your life.
      9. Recession soon.
And according to Peter, there is always a recession right around the corner even when we're coming out of a recession.

I haven't heard any positive or supportive argument from Scarramuchi? Same old, more and more are "using" it will drive the price up (due to a limited supply). I think this is quite a weak argument because as the price goes up, an individual will buy and hold less and less (a fraction of what their purchasing power can get and hold). I also think it's tough to correlate # of users with price since the only reason for someone "using" it at the moment is to speculate and hold the asset. And don't you think than when a large organisation, like a financial institution, would welcome a specific crypto that they won't make their own and peg it to something that has value? Like another country's currency or a precious metal. And then assign it an actual "use" or purpose or function to complete work already done more efficiently. Not convinced. Time will tell.

@@user-qx9pk4yg6t not really. It's not hard to come up with a system that outperforms another system in arbitrary dimensions. That doesn't mean the system you came up with is useful or better or will be adopted etc.

@@mixmastermaverick3336 Well it's been adopted faster that the internet. I'm not going to debate over gold because I'm a proponent of it but thinking that for the rest of our lifetime gold will be the only option it seems pretty foolish. Bitcoin is a superior means of exchange in a world that is turning digital. There's a ton that I can say but it will take forever to write here. We didn't knew we needed smart phones to call somebody 20 years ago but then innovation happened and we are addicted to the convenience of having one. Having a trusless network that is a hybrid of a store of value and currency that is also highly liquid and you can split it easily is a convenience that we didn't knew we needed. Then you add the convenience of safe storage in the blockchain through a cold wallet that's accessible anywhere in the world is just plain elegant. A porfolio with a % in gold and BTC will be the new standard.

BLAH BLAH BLAH --- Schiffty needs some new material. Same old rhetoric over and over. Every debate is exactly the same with Schiffty. He's simply memorized the same unless lip service. Once again Schiffty gets his ass handed to him.

Keep in mind, Peter Schiff doesn't understand crypto well, and has been wrong about every prediction he has made about bitcoin. I would suggest to listen to him talking about anything but crypto, he knows his stuff elsewhere.

Rekt. The mooch thought he was in a new investors meeting for bitcoin. He should have known that Peter is operating at a higher level when debating other bitcoiners, he already has arguments for all mooches points from years ago
