I bought a car 3 years ago and it was and still is one of the greatest joys of my life. I had so many rides with my friends, family. When It was too sunny during summers it protected me from heat during travel, also in rains. I enjoy driving every moment of it whether in traffic or on scenic roads..listening to my fav music. ... the same goes for my bike....I love my bike equally and its 11 years old...It has been with me thru good and bad times......my comment will only be understood by someone who truly loves his/her car or bike . So its not wrong to own a car (or a bike) whether its monetary value is depreciated or not. Its emotional value for owner always keeps on growing......

May be the Intent was right considering growing environment problems But Calculations are all wrong .
    1. You Didn't Consider Inflation
    2. The 2Lakhs value will be only be taken into consideration if you are buying CAR with 100% Cash
    3. In case of Loan the 2 Lakh is an Virtual Value . Only the Interest on Principal Amount shall be considered. As we are not paying from our pocket. Interest will be the cost .
    4. Today the Interest Rate for Car has gone down to 8.4% p.a.
    5. People buy car on loan because they don't have cash. So the point of saving doesn't come into picture.
    6. You have considered a very high yield rate of 12% .
It is possible only if compounding.
    7. No one will wait 25 years to enjoy the earnings.
    After 25 years .
    8. After 25 years the inflated value of 2 lakhs will be equivalent to 25 lakhs.
    9. Income will also increase over the years.
    10. To save penny why one would wait 25 years?
    11. We cannot rely on Cab drivers.
    12. Personal Trips within 400 Km will cost 10 times more with Private Cabs .
    13. Car is absolute value for money if it is below 7.5 lakhs and if used for atleast above 1,00,000km

I really appreciate the way you explained it. Real truth is our economy runs through expenditure. If people will not spend then no company will invest , which ultimately end up with job loss. People who has invested in that company will lose their money. All should know it's a cycle.
Yes you should buy a car if u are capable enough, never ever buy it looking at other people.

  • @luckydhiman
    @luckydhiman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +20

Good video but video omits an emotional factors of buying a car. eg: if somebody gets severely ill in the family you can take them to the hospital without waiting for Ambulance or Cab and that time could be the difference in life and death. I can come up with many examples why car can be a very big part of the family and why you should not look at it as depreciating asset.
I would recommend people when buying a car please buy it according to the needs you have not because peer/society pressure. If you're day to day tasks can be done by Alto or some small car don't buy a big car to showoff.
Lot of good trips and memories will be created with the car as well. Savings are absolute necessary for us the middle class but in that we lose lot of times that we could have enjoyed if we splurged a little. Sometimes just enjoy things without thinking about the money.

    Great video sir,
I want to add some more points.
It is good to use Ola Uber saves money on buying car and also on parking space, maintenance, driver.
Also in country where people doesn't have place for shelter, to walk freely on footpaths and traffic jam for public transportation and at other side we use lot of space for private car parking. So it is good if number of private vehicles get reduced.
Also it is good for environment as it reduce pollution due to traffic by some percentage and saves resources in making of car.
In residential societies car parking is one of the reason for no space to play kids and plant trees as space is concretise for parking purpose which also affects rain water absorption affecting groundwater in cities.

True Video. Some times we buy car just to show off. People don’t buy practical cars. They think if i buy Alto people may laugh so they buy baleno, where as Baleno was not needed. Now baleno stays parked and money got wasted worth 2 Alto’s.
But yes if like to drive buy cars but dont go over board. Start with a humble car and then go for bigger cars slowly.

Your Motive was right,But this cannot be generalised
People have smart earning options these days like SIP,Mutual Funds and The best of all Stock Market
Few points I would like to Add
1-Car is a Status Symbol in India and Abroad, ratan tata tried changing it by introducing Nano but miserably failed
2-Yes cars/Bikes should not be bought with EMI,but that vehicle which u can afford at that time
3-Calculations do not match the Logic here,You are saying CNG lasts for 15 years as per Govt rules
But in reality cng vehicle dies in 5-6 years of usage
4-You also took a special point that people change cars in 3-4years,Those who change that frequent they earn a lot,so this cannot be generalised
5-Tier 2 and tier 3 cities have very Poor public transport hence this fails there too
Your intent was right but it got few irrational calculations too
    😊just my opinion

But if you try to understand getting car financed is a better option. Take an example if you purchased car of 50 lakh in cash. So,it will not give you benefits and it will depreciate but if you get it financed so you have to pay 20 lakh and rest in form of emi. I.e monthly upto 50-60 k per month. And the rest 30 lakh can be invested in other sector you can earn upto 2 - 2.5 lakh from that 30 lakh and you can pay installment from those money and can save also.

I had not been using a car for so many years, but after CORONA pandemic situation has been changed a lot. I know car is a depreciating asset but sometimes it's good to have. Nowadays, petrol prices are going high and everytime paying huge prices to cab could not be a wise decision. Using public transport, especially this time is a concern too. It's better to have a car as per the individual budget.

When somebody buys an old car, he/she saves the cost of RTO. LIke 6 lacs ki gadi pe kareeb kareeb 60-70 k RTO dena padta hai. Yes, delhi me RTO kam hai, lekin chennai, bangalore, mumbai, kolkata me ye cost bahut jyada hai. While buying an old car nobody has to pay that cost, it's already paid.

Agar aap gaav me rehte hain and elderly hain aapke family me jo bus etc se comfortably travel nahi kar payenge to wo case me acchi gaadi bohot jaruri hain.
Ye scenario me convenience > Cost ho jata hain.
